Salty Sow - Cactus

Best brunch ever!
This was not our first visit, so we expected great food. Unfortunately, the chips from the fish/chips were cold. My husband and I ordered the French Dip. The beef was tough enough that you pulled meat out of the buns when trying to take a bite. The chicken scallopini was hit. Really disappointing based on our previous visits. Also, I found the servers trying to sell gift cards at the table was inappropriate. I'm not sure when we'll return... $80 for two dinners which we did not enjoy was a bit of a waste. Maybe that explains why on a Saturday night the place was empty.
First time visitor. Place was not very busy so hard to judge what it would be like with a full house. Food was good. Ambience is unique and comfortable. Our waiter was very good. Will return if in the neighborhood. I live in the North Valley near Carefree so would not make special trip just for this restaurant. Will recommend to friends as a good place to go if they are in the area.
Love Salty Sow. Great food, good cocktails, and the live music on the patio is always fun!
We have eaten at Salty Sow numerous times and this was no different. The waite staff was awesome as was the food. We will be back...
Great food and great service. The noise level is very high, so keep that in mind. One we return to time and time again.
Yes! We enjoy the vibe of the restaurant and it's cute. We've liked the food both times we've been in and have gotten good service.
Great experience. Enjoyed the food and the environment is awesome!!
We used to come often and haven’t been in a couple of years...the food was average and the wine list is very limited. We were kind of disappointed. Our server was wonderful tho!
We will definitely be back. The vibe of the restaurant was excellent. The food was good. The Burger was outstanding (kinda small serving of fries).
My husband and I love coming here! The food is amazing over and over and the service is top notch as well.
Toughest veal I have ever had. No visit from manager after complaint. Not sure if we will be back. This follows bad cut of Prime Rib previously. Most of the issues seem to come from the specials menu.
Prime rib was undercooked so had to send it back. Service was great.
Excellent food and service
Food was terrific excellent go to place.
We have dined at Salty Sow many many years since it opened. We have seen changed over the years - not for the good. Smaller portions. Happy Hour now only served in the bar & patio.
Monday evening our prime rib dinner was fair. It was served with au jus flowing all over the plate. The mashed potatoes were very loose/runny. Our meal was re-plated and the au jus was served in a separate container but it did not fix the runny overly salted mashed potatoes. Not certain we will return to the Salty Sow.
Service was one of the worst we have experienced. No manager ever showed to help out. 2 out of 4 meals were not as ordered & it was just our problem.
Salty Sow Phoenix has been our favorite ever since it opened. This was our first dinner there as we usually have done weekday lunches. Dinner was excellent. Please bring back the weekday lunches. If you need more lunch business ... we promise to stop by for lunch more often.
we enjoyed cocktail hour thoroughly! They are very well done and the drinks were balanced.
I highly recommend the truffled deviled eggs.
the main course special of the day was a duck breast. It was cooked perfectly
The pork belly tacos were very lackluster and lacked flavor. The egg did not bind or add any additional flavor to the taco.
service was as expected and nothing above and beyond.
The food was excellent, service was excellent and ambiance was great for a first date, however it was a little loud to hold a conversation. Overall I will be back!
Great restaurant. Always is, it’s one of our favorites.
Great salads, drinks, appetizers. Will be back!
I indicated it was a birthday celebration when I made the reservation, but they forgot when they brought the desserts. I tried to sign up for the rewards program online but was told I had to get the card at the restaurant. Our server forgot to bring the rewards card. The fish in the fish and chips has a very heavy batter, the fries were good. The shrimp appetizer was good. Probably won’t go back as nothing was above average.
We had the beet salad - super fabulous! Also tried the teriaki salmon. It was cooked perfectly, but not my favorite preparation of salmon, as it was a bit sweet. Not the chef's fault! Drinks were delicious and the vibe was friendly and comfortable. Highly recommend this place. Wish there were more restaurants like this in this location.
Our server Cheney and her team members were right on.
Even the bartender Mason stopped by to make sure our “Little Larry’s were to our liking.
Our 10th visit and there will be many more.
Highly recommend !!
Was very disappointed with my recent dining experience at Salty Sow. It’s been one of my go to spots since it opened. The menu recently changed and some of the best dishes on the menu are gone or altered. They no longer have the trout dish (my favorite!), and eliminated several of the gluten free and healthier dishes/options on the menu for fried and breaded alternatives. I also ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which has always been one of their best salads and the new preparation was not appetizing at all.
Overall, the food was underwhelming - the preparation of the dishes was just not as good as it used to be - and the menu is sadly now much too limited for someone like me who is gluten intolerant to continue to make this one of my regular spots going forward. :(
Holly was an exceptional server. Thank you for the service and accommodations
Outstanding food and each dish is unique. Must try if you are in Paradise Valley, Phoenix.
Great food and lively place for dinner. Enjoyed every bit of our meal!
This was my Second time dining at the Salty Sow. Some girlfriends and I met at the Salty Sow for dinner. I had reserved a table using open table app. On the reservation I mentioned that we wanted to reserve a table for happy hour.
The next day the manager called me regarding my reservation. He explained that reservations were only allowed for the dining room and that happy hour is only in the bar area and that the bar area would most likely be packed at the time of our reservation.
I really appreciated that he took time out of his day to give me a courtesy call, instead of allowing us to show up for our reservation, expecting happy hour, and then be disappointed. I decided to go ahead and keep the reservation for the dining area, even though we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the happy hour prices.
My friends and I placed our drink orders and the waiter informed us that the manager had comped the first round! That was so thoughtful and generous!
That manager took his time twice to make sure our stay was everything we wanted. Not very many people would go out of their way with like that for someone they’ve never met. It makes a customer feel like family.
Thanks for the great good, great atmosphere and great customer service!
Our favorite neighborhood place... have never been d!
I’ve eaten here several times and have always had a great experience. We enjoyed our happy hour drinks and we all had salads for dinner which were delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. We were seated by the manager who was also very nice and took time to talk with us.
For the first time in 4 or 5 visits, one of their staple items was below average. It wasn't very good at all. Mainly the beurre blanc sauce. We talked to the waitress about it and she was very kind and apologetic. They removed it from our bill so there is nothing more they could have done. Other than that, it was a nice evening.
We love this place, the decor is very cute, drinks are fun and food is delicious! Love the Brussels sprouts!
Server melted down when we pointed out a problem with one of the cheese items on our tray (it was not cheese, just rind) Not the server's fault, kitchen should do better. Manager was condescending and rude. Our friend (25+ years restaurant owner & chef) called the food "pedestrian" and the service "inexcusable". I have to agree....
I used to visit salty sow every month when it first opened. It was a great value for what you got, the service was impeccable, and their happy hour was awesome - great deals on food and drinks. The food was also fresh and phenomenal tasting.
But something happened in the past 1.5 years. About that time they cut me off alcohol after only having 3 drinks and I had been in the bathroom for an hour with a friend who had had twice as much as me and was feeling sick. I let it go as I’m not much of a drinker but I definitely felt slighted as all my other friends were busy drinking away while I stuck in the bathroom helping my friend looking forward to having one last drink before I left and then I got denied. It was dumb. I protested going there for a while with my husband as this had been our go-to date night spot. Upon my 6 month sabbatical, I came back to find they had changed the recipe of my beloved sangria and watered it down a TON! Ugh. I didn’t return for a couple more months only to find they took items off the menu (fried green tomatoes and more) that were very unique and the only reason I had returned since the drinks sucked now. Just this weekend I returned to find that now you only get happy hour prices by eating at the bar...where there is like NO ROOM. I asked the waitress and she said this policy started about three months ago. We ordered the duck fat fries that have always been to die for...not only was there hardly any fries on the plate, but they were gross! And... the French dip that had been THE ONLY REASON FOR MY RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT, didn’t taste fresh, was incredibly small and not rare like it had always been served. The bread was CHEWY & not fresh like it had been every time in the past. Needless to say, we had always driven a half hour to get here because it was so worth it. We told all our friends about it and now, come to find out they had became regulars and have also since stopped coming because of these same reasons. WILL NEVER RETURN
Great experience. Food and drinks were excellent. Must try the beignets and fruit cobbler.
Food was fantastic and the service was as good.
Prime dip and Manhattan is amazing. Have been here many times and always amazing. Highly recommended!
We have been to Salty Sow many times for both brunch and dinner and it does not disappoint. The food is consistently good and service is very good. It can be a little noisy. Sit outside (if the weather allows) if you want to more easily hear what your companions have to say.
