The food was really good. We had bloody Mary's they were just ok, need improvement. The nigh before we were at the same place for drinks and snacks and it was great with good service. However, the server for our lunch was not the best, she was just not a good waiter, I am not sure if she was new, untrained or just did not know her job.
Wow! The service, cocktails and cuisine was amazing. Our server Kiayanna was knowledgeable and attentive, truly fantastic. Chef Jeremy stopped by the table and we totally geeked out on their home made ham and his version of pumpkin spice for the season. I’ve written a lot of reviews on hotels that I’ve stayed at but this I my first restaurant review. Saltwood is that good! Thanks for a wonderful evening.
We went to Atlanta to see our son for Christmas, and chose Saltwood because the online menu had enticing choices for meat-eaters and veggie-lovers alike. The Saltwood Board included wonderful cheeses, jams, and mustards to go with the meats. The steak frites had marvelous flavorings, the cod was delicious, and the only problem with the roasted cauliflower was the generous portion! The wine list had sufficient variety of grapes and prices, so we could get a bottle of something we liked without feeling overcharged. Some of us found the smoked ice cream more attractive than others did, while the apple butter cake was fantastic. Our server Kiyanna was a real pro and very friendly. The whole staff was professional and courteous despite working on Christmas Day. I loved the wood seats, tables, and walls. We ate early (5:30), making it quiet enough for easy conversation, but it felt like the noise would not be an issue at any hour. I would return any time.
This was a great place and the food was amazing. We had Christmas breakfast and although they didn't have a Christmas Menu the regular breakfast menu was good. Our server Nathan was great with an upbeat personality who really went over and beyond to provide excellent customer service.
The was a charity event going on while there so the service was a bit slow, but our server did a good job of dealing with the volume. The food was exceptional, especially the Venision which was cooked to the perfect temperature. Drink selection was average, but the food was exceptional!
I took my husband to Saltwood for lunch on his birthday. Initially, I had expected to be able to enjoy the charcuterie and bar however this is only available for dinner. However, they are known for an INCREDIBLE salad bar so we decided to give it a try. It does not disappoint. You can build the salad of your dreams; high quality ingredients, variety of vinegars and oils, dressings and FRESH COOKED chicken, steak and shrimp options. They also have a lunch menu that includes various gourmet burgers. We will definitely come back for dinner.
Ok the salad bar is as advertised awesome! However they really don't encourage you to order anything else! We had to beg for a drink. Again had to flag downs waiter to get a refill and the first person was just downright rude. Having said that I would go back. A great bargain.
Apparently this place is a glorified Salad Bar at lunch. They really need to warn folks.
Having looked online and seen the substantial burger menu, my partner and I were quite surprised to find that this place is a prissied up salad bar at lunch. Quite affordable and on the same level as Whole Foods , when it comes to quality, but thats it. A salad bar.
That was not at all what we were expecting for a sit down business meal, and the substantial line of office dwellers who clearly appreciate this cafeteria style meal significantly distracted from what we were expecting when making the reservation.
PRO TIP, do NOT self park. They validate valet, but you pay to self park.
In the end, it is a nice salad bar. The meat was over cooked, there was a huge selection of vinegars and oils, and it was certainly better than Kroger, but not as good as Eatzi's used to be.
My wife would love it. NOT a place for a business lunch though. Disappointed we were not warned on the website.
We were really looking forward to an amazing brunch but that is not what we got.
To start off the service was just OK. It would have been phenomenal for a casual dining chain restaurant but not what we were expecting. The server spilled the water bottles on one of our people when delivering and did little more than an amusing apology. My water and coffee went empty and sat empty for quite some time despite me trying to flag someone down. The server barely checked on us and didn't come by once after the food was delivered.
The starters were pretty good. Nothing special
About any of it. The atmosphere was probably the best thing going for this place. I had the build your own Benedict. My eggs were over cooked. The potatoes were room temperature. The grits were fantastic though.
For the price not worth it. Will not go back
The kitchen seemed distracted, and really did a poor job of preparing all the dishes. Wait staff was wonderful, but the food was either to salty or in the case of the fish, overcooked. The lamb looked good, but was extremely tough and the sauce oversalted. Not a good experience for my wife and I.
Made reservations with Open Table and got multiple reminders of date/time. Arrived at restaurant on time and there was no record of reservation. Luckily it was not crowded and we were seated quickly. Food was fine and service was good but slow. No mention in advance of valet parking or that restaurant was in Loew 's Hotel. Parked garage that was labeled with restaurant address but long walk to restaurant. Will do my homework next time.
This is my second time at Saltwood. I took my mother, future mother-in-law, aunts, and cousin for Mother's Day brunch! Everyone enjoyed it! I think they may have forgotten about us towards the end, but it wasn't too much of a problem because we were enjoying ourselves!
Despite the reviews about the service, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. First, since it was Easter brunch, they called to confirm our reservation. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The service was superb, and the menu was varied. Everyone (party of 6) loved their dish. The kids menu was a bit pricey but the portions explained why. We will definitely return. My omelette was delicious, and my daughter's chicken and waffle plate was perfect. This just proved that you have to experience these restaurants for yourself.
We sat for a few minutes before being asked for drinks and appetizer. That was ok. We ordered dinner- two entrees- salad . The first one entree was delivered. Then we waited almost 30 minutes for the second order. That was delivered and never received the salad. The fried chicken was greasy and tasteless. The fish was decent but very salty.
Saltwood is located in the Loew's Hotel in Midtown. We made a reservation for a Sunday evening and were practically the only diners there. Despite this fact, Saltwood served very good food and we were happy with our experience. You can start out your meal by ordering some local cheeses. We got the 2 cheese plate and were impressed. However, the more impressive part of the meal was the entree. I had the low country boil and my wife ordered the steak & fries. They provided large portions as well (my wife took half hers to-go, but I finished my entree). You never know what you are going to get with a hotel restaurant sometimes, but this exceeded our expectations and without a doubt we'd be willing to try it again.
Went for weekend brunch (on a Saturday) with out of town guests. I would recommend keeping in mind that though the food is good, the portions are small. The service (for being located in a fancy hotel and not an inexpensive meal) needs improvement. Little things - water was not refilled with any frequency, we were not asked once (or anytime) - after the food arrived if we needed anything else (condiments, more food, coffee or tea following the meal, etc). The waiter just abruptly came (while our plates were still on the table) and left the bill and walked away. Had to call him back and ask for a coffee. He did not then ask if anyone else wanted anything and reached over the entire table to set the coffee down. The customer service and interaction overall were beyond lackluster. I would rather go anywhere else in midtown for brunch. For a place advertised as a fine dining spot, the service from the waiter and lack of attentiveness are not the worth the price.
The food was okay. We were Saturday lunch, and we're surprised to find that they only served brunch on the weekends. There were very few other guests, but for some reason it took far too long to get our food. While we had time, I think an hour and a quarter was a bit too long.
Limited menu, but that's OK, primarily a charcuterie place, so that's most of the menu. No problem at all with the food, but a few problems with the service. Ordered pinot grigio, got pinot noir, it was exchanged, but I'm pretty sure the replacement was Chardonnay. The Classic G&T was very good. The flatbread was very good, although we didn't order it, and it was meant for another table. Timing of the food was a little haphazard. A bit pricey, but I guess that's expected given the location.
