Reliably excellent food, EVERY time -- both seafood and steak. Comfortable and welcoming, even when busy. Nice bar scene.
Calamari was good. Redfish was over cooked. No one even asked if our food was ok. Kept waiting so I could tell them. Kind of got to be a joke. Maybe the waiter knew the answer and didn’t want to ask? Drinks were average. Red wine was not cellar temp but that’s not that unusual these days.
Pricier than expected and EXTREMELY noisy. Hard to talk to others at the table Service was very good and quick. Had reservation and was seated immediately upon arrival. That is always a plus. Would not recommend for a romantic date or a quiet place to tlak.
The manager asked us to relocate to another table so they could put several tables together to accommodate a larger group. We found out it was for a group of prom goers. We obliged and were rewarded with a tasty dessert. So, thank you to the manager. We had a delicious meal followed by a yummy dessert.
We enjoyed the food and service and requested a table in the corner as the only drawback to the restaurant is the noise level. Even so, it was noisy. Great location.
Nothing special slow service. Ceviche and seafood stew was shrimp and crab, and Manhattan Clam chowder with shrimp and crab- Greek Olympia in port side was surprisingly better food.
Outstanding service! Food choices were unique and delicious. Location is in the heart of Galveston and works for a variety of occasions. We had the surf and turf special after having appetizers. Our drinks were good and so was dessert. We made reservations for the next day prior to our theatre show.
As always, the food was excellent. Wish the place wasn’t so noisy......very hard to have a conversation.
Excellent service and the food was outstanding
The food was delicious, very fresh and nice portion size. Service was excellent. Great location. Would recommend this restaurant to friends.
Great food
Beautiful presentation
Great service
The mussels were absolutely delicious—what a wonderful sauce. The redfish special was delicious as well! Everything was so good, we came back on Monday for lunch!!!
We have been to Saltwater grill upwards of 15 times and have never had such a horrendous time. Our waiter could not hear us over the noise and kept bringing us the wrong items and when he did hear us he still brought the wrong items! He did not fill up our drinks nor bring us bread. All of the tables next to us were experiencing the same problems and we actually all conversed on the matter. Never has this happened before but this particular visit was a nightmare and we are contemplating going back!
As always the Saltwater Grill as met my dining expectations both in service, food presentation and taste.
Never disappointed with this restaurant. The oysters on the half shell were excellent and the Chilean sea bass dish with risotto was cooked to perfection .
My wife and I tried Saltwater after seeing it from across the street from Rudy and Pacos. Great place food was excellent and great price as well.
Group of 10 in town for a meeting at the Tremont. Restaurant wasn’t particularly crowded for a Thursday night. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The special was a Parmesan crusted snapper on a bed of tomato risotto which was superb. Moderately priced wine list.
Service was excellent !!!
Food was very good.
Our waitress was an “older” woman whose service was subpar. In her defense, she seemed overworked and I suspect more wait staff was needed. Nonetheless, our experienced suffered because of her lack of attention to us.
Hello Danny!
Enjoyed the experience. A tad on the noisy side; not off-putting but don't go there wanting a quiet intimate dining experience. Food was great. Service was good but our waiter was very soft-spoken and in that environment was made to repeat himself a few times.
I'd go there again for a friend's get-together or similar but not for a quiet date.
Family was visiting and was a perfect ending to a great day
Absolutely, the best food while we were in Galveston.
Great menu for seafood. We had oysters, chilean seabass, shrimp and grits. Everything was fresh and flavorful.
Awesome this place was great from the time we walked in the door till the time we walked out.
My husband and I eat out often, and we have high expectations when the prices are this high. The food was not good enough. The portions were small, and the food was over-salted. The lobster egg rolls were greasy, and not spicy at all. The shrimp and grits were okay. The Grits were really thick and congealed. My husband ordered the sea bass with lump crab meat, and received sea bass in some kind of broth. Jesse, our server, quickly fixed the situation (he's incredible). There was about 2 TB of couscous that came with his meal. The Seabass seemed poached & bland, and the spinach on both plates was bitter & loaded with large chunks of several cloves of raw garlic. The creme brulee was scrumptious! Unfortunately, we won't be back.
We love Saltwater Grill for dinner or lunch. It is right across from the 1894 Opera House and very near the strand. Great food and great location.
As usual Good wine Great food and excellent service. Deserves a 10+
No complaints regarding quality of food or service. This is a casual restaurant but does not lend itself to quiet conversations. Be prepared to shout to be heard.
Great food!
I was very taken aback by the 'on the pavement' situation of the restaurant having expected something a bit more upmarket based on my wife's description of reviews, and it was for our21st wedding anniversary. It was an 'Ocean Basket' atmosphere. However, the food was excellent and made up for the sparse ambience.
This is one of my husband's favorite restaurants so we went for a family dinner for his birthday! As always, the food was delicious and we had a great time. The Cioppino is absolutely exceptional. I would eat it every day if I could. We always love a trip to the Saltwater Grill.
Food was great. A bit noisy. Service was so-so.
Delicious food, great locale to Opry House! I don't think there was enough staff to handle pre-concert crowd in a timely manner. We arrived at 6:30, show was at 8:00, and we received our dinner at 7:45. The food is wonderful, though, and we would go back!
Two of us went before a concert at The Grand. Food was good and big portions. Good wine. Atmosphere though was too loud. Had to almost scream to talk. Waiter had to fix our bill twice because it wasn’t correct. Recommend reservations for dinner which we had made.
Server missed order of one guest - attempted to place entree that was previously placed and utensil in bowl by another table/guest.
Well-prepared entrees as usual!! Unusually quiet (mid-week), which was nice! The place is not cheap, but good value for the price!!
We had a large group of 16. The food was fantastic and the service great! The molten cake is beyond amazing!
Food was good. Service ok. Noise level was such you couldnt have a normal tone of voice conversation! There were more people standing around drinking speaking way too loud so close to two other couples they left quickly after their meal upset. We left at the same time another couple left and had a conversation with them about their experience there. They had the same opinion we do! Well, we can say we,ve been!
Delicious meal. Had the red snapper with mushroom risotto. My husband red snapper pontchartrain. Fabulous. Will return on our next trip.
Unbelievably RUDE - Never got to the food
My girls and I booked a 9:15 PM reservation through Open Table at Saltwater Grill on Sunday February 18, 2018. We Ubered downtown, and on arrival at the restaurant noticed there were no other customers . The waiter was irratated. I told him we have reservations. He scowled and said, "yeah, well you here. We were about to close. We are waiting on you. We close at 9:00!" I apologized and said we booked through Open Table. He rolled his eyes. The kitchen staff was staring at us through the kitchen service opening. I said, well I guess we will go somewhere else. We are tourists and going by the information provided. The waiter said nothing, but AS WE WERE EXITING THE ENTIRE KITCHEN STAFF AND WAITER CLAPPED! We were mortified and embarrassed!
We went a block a way to a steak and sushi place who were more than happy to serve us even though we didn't have a reservation. The food was great and the service was welcome balm to the infliction from Saltwater Grill.
