I was not able to attend the lunch, but the feedback I received was that the service was really slow. I'm not sure if it was because there were 9 people at the table, but they knew that ahead of time and should have been better prepared.
Great Restaurant. Small initamate tables and plenty of choices. Food excellent and totally enjoy experience/
Overall the experience was decent. The space is a bit tired and needs updating. Service was average. We were served in a reasonable amount of time but had to flag someone down to get a bill.
I was most disappointed in the shrimp in the gumbo. While the roux was excellent. I suspect the shrimp were not gulf shrimp. I suspect most likely farm raised, hopefully not in Asia.
Mother's Day meal had good food. The waitress service was outstanding. My family enjoyed the meal and company with some of the other guests. In my opinion, the price was a bit pricey. The buffet selection, flavor and quantity were very good.
First time there but friend had recommended. Did was excellent. Great service. Will be back next time I’m in Galveston.
The food was good. The people at the bar were very loud. It wasn’t as nice as a place that my husband and I expected. I told them in our reservation that it was my husbands birthday and our anniversary and they never mentioned it.
Great place to eat! Food and service were excellent!
Took friends from out of town. We used to love this place but it’s not as good as it used to be. Fish was dry and over cooked, grits were bland, asparagus was stingy and tough. There were 7 of us and none of us feel the need to return. Bummer.
Steak was great. The service was just ok.
We took early reservation so we could attend a play across the street at the opera house. The place was crowded and very noisy as usual and luckily our round table for 6 in the back part of the restaurant near the kitchen area was less noisy, except when there wee banging plates and dropping glasses (happened once). The Lobster roll appetizer gave us 3 rolls which were fair...too much fried casing compared to the little bits of lobster inside...only the hot sauce accompanying made the taste good. We split a good Caesar salad and had Sea Bass with crab chunks as a split main course - expensive at $40. They were going to charge $5 additional to split - so we did it ourselves. The sea bass was excellent and accompanying crab meat in spinach excellent. Our other 4 friends enjoyed the meal. The big drawback was our disinterested waitress who had more to do talking with other customers presumably friends than bothering with us. We received the food on time and hot and nothing else...never came by once to ask about how it was, if we needed anything...poor service. We find this place best for lunch when they are not crowded and it is quieter. The cost of the meal was a bit high although good food quality. We will continue to come back unless noise gets louder and poor service prevails.
Always a great place to eat before a show. Reasonably priced and really good food.
Though the food was okay at the Saltwater Grill and the service was very good there is one bone of contention. For a restaurant of this quality to charge for ice is absolutely ridiculous. If they want to charge for ice they should just add it to the drink price.
Graduation dinner was perfect for our family of 10. Our waiter was efficient courteous and prompt. The food and drink was amazing! Thank you for a great experience!
Love Saltwater. Great variety of food choices, something for everyone. Well-prepared and generous servings.
Saltwater Grill is a great place to eat in Galveston and the service is outstanding.
Very loud and very expensive for the bar environment, noise level.
We arrived late for our reservation which also 10 minutes before closing. The restaurant was waiting on us and never made us feel rushed.
Our server did an excellent job of ensuring my celiac finance's dinner was prepared gluten free. He was very personable and an excellent server.
The fish was way overcooked and restaurant extremely loud, invest in Acoustics
Service was good but the food was a bit bland
Location is perfect for dinner prior to events at the historical opera house. We both had Shrimp and grits which was very good. However, our cocktails were awful. We first had a Mojito. It was not muddled, we watched the bartender, and lacked any flavor other than simple syrup. It tasted very watered down. My husband ordered a second Mojito hoping it would be better and I switched to a lemon drop on the rocks. No lemon taste, no sugar on the rim, no garnish. It tasted like simple syrup on the rocks. The Mojito again was equally disappointing again. We spoke to the manager, Stan and he brought us a shot glass of lemon vodka and one of rum to beef up our cocktails. Stan was more attentive than our waiter.
When we left the restaurant we asked the hostess for the managers name. She didn't know because he started "2 weeks ago" and they don't work together often. She went and asked him for his name. To me this was a red flag. The hostess should know who they are working with! Stan was working with every table and we appreciated his inattentiveness. Good luck Stan!
We were in Galveston for a our Anniversary getaway and decided to have dinner at the Saltwater Grill. We didn’t have any knowledge of this restaurant but decided to try it based on the rave reviews we found online. Upon arrival we quickly discovered why it received all their rave reviews. We were immediately greeted with warmth and friendliness and quickly sat at our table. Our server was extremely nice and very attentive. We started off by ordering the potsticker as our appetizer and they were absolutely amazing! They came on a bed of fresh spinach that had been cooked in amazing flavorful spices and sauce. The dipping sauce was like a soy sauce and sesame oil combination, it was delicious. My husband had the flounder Served with a creamy poblano sauce. I had the Almond and Coconut crusted jumbo Gulf Shrimp on a bed of Asian vegetables drizzled with a delicious satay sauce. Then, as their gift to us for our Anniversary, they brought us a complimentary giant cake brownie dusted with powdered sugar and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top that absolutely melted in my mouth. Everything was absolutely amazing! My husband and I both could not remember the last time we had gone to a restaurant and had everything we tasted be this delicious. Next time we are even within a 75 mile radius of Galveston we will be going to the SaltWater Grill for Dinner, it is that good!
Service excellent food excellent
Enjoyed our meal as usual. Everything was fine and the management accommodated our meal request. We always recommend the fried shrimp and I wish you would put it back on the menu instead of the medley that you offer. That is the only reason we go there is for the fried shrimp. Thank you.
Good service. Good food. Not a fan of the small communal two person tables. Restaurant wasn’t so crowded that we couldn’t have been seated at a better table.
ABSOLUTELY awesome evening!
The food was amazing and our waiter Thelonius was so attentive but, not annoyingly so ..... best waiter EVER 💙
Awesome food and great service!
We have eaten here many times and it is always a must dining destination when in Galveston.
Amazing food. The waiter was extremely nice and willing to answer all the questions we had about the area.
The salad was amazing, and the salmon was spectacular!!! We loved our waitress. The wine list was very good (though not particularly large), and the prices on their wine are very nice!
This place was amazing and my daughter left her purse there and they saved it and we got it back thank you
My wife and I have been multiple times, and experienced a nice dinner each time, with exception. I was convinced to participate in the Galveston Restaurant Group dining "club", but it seems like they cannot always give me the credit due for what was promised. I have had one bad experience with a meal. Otherwise, mostly very good.
Great food & service as usual. The key lime and blueberry beignets special were awesome.
The food was delicious. The waiter took great care of us. There were 11 of us and no one had a complaint .
Friendly People and good food.
Our waiter, TJ was fantastic. Food was great also
We love Thelinius. Best service ever! ❤️
My husband and I took my parents out for a show at the Opera house across the street. It’s a long story, but I’ll try to sum it up. There were 4 of us at a round table that seated 8. The restaurant was very loud and at the large table, it was difficult for us to even hear each other. My mother has food allergies and she and I were splitting a plate and she asked me to order for us. When I told the waiter about her food allergies, he responded to my mother with “does she always talk for you?”. Again being at a large table my husband and father were seated against the wall and said it would be hard for the waiter to get to them and they both had difficulty hearing him so when the waiter was standing by me after getting my order, my husband ordered and the waiter leaned over me to ask my husband a question and my husband looked at me because he had already told me the side he wanted. So I told the waiter, who then said “so you just talk for everybody”... throughout the service he insulted me 3 more times. Then the appetizer we ordered was covered on chives, which my mother was allergic to, when I brought this to the waiters attention he said no it was parsley..., then my husband said No, it’s Chives. So the waiter advised my mother to not eat any. My mother and I split a plate, the waiter said they would have to make it all from scratch to make sure it had no onions or chives. Ok, no problem; better to wait then end up at the ER later. But when the plates arrived, the side of couscous that “had to be made from scratch”... never made to our plates. Not to mention once we said we did not want any adult beverages.... the waiter left. We had to get his attention 3 separate times to order a side then some tea. The food was good, but the service was just so bad. I was insulted multiple times, we had to practically beg to get drinks and after I told them about the food allergies, the first thing that was brought to the table was covered in the allergen. Just poor service.
Always an excellent choice. A bit loud but you can hear your company. Food is outstanding!
We found the food and service not good. The rice with my dish was under cooked. When I asked for a replacement, our waitress brought out another bowl of under cooked rice. The Sea Bass was very rubbery and cost a lot of money for what I got. Our waitress was not around often and when she was she seemed inconvenienced when she had to serve us another glass of wine or water. To many good restaurants in Galveston with good food and service. Won't be going back to Saltwater Grill any time soon.
