Saltwater Grill Ratings and Reviews
We went for Restaurant Week, hoping to have the delicious cuisine for a better price. The meal we ended up choosing was from the regular menu as it was a better value, $26 instead of $34, for almost the same thing as the special. We split crab cakes for an appetizer, I love your crabcakes! Then we both had blackened redfish w/Ponchatrain topping. It was delicious! Our server was attentive and we timed it so there wasnt a crowd or unruly children. I will be back, I always recommend Saltwater Grill to my Airbnb guests and friends, saying the food is delish, the place is rather pricey and usually very noisy!
It was restaurant week, and Saltwater's menu reflected their regular offerings. The coconut shrimp were the best I have ever had, and my husband's red snapper was also delicious. Nice presentation of the salad as well as the entrees. Everything was just lovely.
First night of Restaurant week and I had their speciality pot stickers. Red Fish Ponchitrain, and Bread pudding and my wive their house salad, Coconut Curry Shrimp with Asian vegetables, and bread pudding...all for $25 each. Portions were ample and all wonderful. Pleasant atmosphere and service...restaurant packed!
Came in on a cold rainy Saturday night. The restaurant wasn’t packed, and we had no trouble getting a table. Ambience and decor were adequate for the price point. Ordered the Bouillabaisse and the Redfish Ponchartrain. Both were delicious. Id say it’s some the best seafood dishes I have tried in Texas.
Although, our server was not as accomplished as she should have been, although, my main complaint may not have been her fault. I ordered baked oysters, my dinner companions ordered shrimp and fish. My oysters were brought out 5-10 minutes before the other plates. I tried to wait to eat my oysters thinking that the other plates would arrive soon, but, they didn't. I was finished with my meal before my companions received theirs.
And, the noise level was so bad, that we couldn't carry on any dinner conversation without raising our voices, which, we decided not to do, because, we would be adding to the noise.
I will probably not return, even though the food was acceptable, the conditions weren't.
My boyfriend and I dined there for the first time a couple of days ago and was impressed with the food and atmosphere. It was a Tuesday night during off season so it was really quiet, only a couple of tables were seated, so I don't know what the atmosphere will be like during peak season but I will definitely go back. The food was really really good.
Nice time in Saltwater Grill. Had a dozen of fresh oysters ( ice cold) and then had our entrees . I had scallops and shrimp and my date had fish. Arron our waiter was wonderful and would definitely have him serve us again. The food was wonderful and we both drank the house wine which was good.
Our family went for lunch before the Nutcracker at the Grand, which is across the street. We started with several appetizers, such as, the potato soup, lobster bisque & lobster spring rolls, all were good portions, with everyone loving each dish, but be aware the lobster rolls are spicy. Next was the main course consisting of filet mignon, ribeye , redfish and salmon, all the meals exceeded expectations. Our family recommends the Saltwater Grill for a modern take on the classics.
To me the restaurant was too crowded, too many tables to close together. There was too much noise and conversation was difficult. We went there for the seafood, and it was "O.K.", nothing special. Service was not so great. We have to wait several times for our waitress to get service.
As expected, the restaurant was crowded with guests headed across the stree for the Willie Nelson concert. Food quality is never disappointing.....crab cakes are my go to.... yum!!!!
My daughter had salmon....loved it. Everything is beautifully presented.
My Martini was under whelming ...
But we make it to the show on time !
Actually thought the menu was ok. Ordered the fish of the day - redfish. Order came and fish was overcooked and had a "fishy" scent - not like fresh fish should smell and was brutally overcooked. Sent back - second time - fish still overcooked. No one came by to check on me. Ate half. Waiter took my plate and never asked anything. Bright side - light cream sauce with capers nice.
But worse than all of this was the ambiance. I would describe this restaurant as the polar opposite - zero ambiance. Harsh lighting, no table clothes, can't even think of a place that might look like this - perhaps like a breakfast area where a chain motel offers continental breakfast? And there are zero noise absorbing measures taken - no carpet, no table clothes, no acoustic ceiling tiles. It is just horrible. We wanted to take our dinners and eat on the sidewalk which was calmer and quieter.
Conveniently located across the street from the Grand Opera House. Seated promptly for our reservation. The noise level was extremely loud, food was good (not bad, but not exceptional). Service deteriorated as the meal progressed, waited 15 minutes after ordering dessert, then another 10 minutes to get our check.
