They closed their doors on July 9th. Unfortunately Open Table still allowed me to make a reservation at the restaurant, very disappointing.
SALTWATER IS NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. You made a reservation at a restaurant that’s no longer in business.
The fried grouper was awesome! Very meaty texture and light breading. Fresh oysters could have been a tad better. Good service.
Haqdn't been there in awhile and waspleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service
Staff was pleasant enough.
Menu was far too large. Large menu = more opportunity to mess up.
Food was far over-cooked. Fish was dry, shrimp, and scallops were chewy and rubbery. Probably frozen. Fish was dry even when covered in whatever sauce it was in. Fish was the thin end of the filet and not a reasonable cut for the cost.
Potatoes were microwaved and over spiced.
That was all just my meal... Some chef signature special.
The wife took two bites of hers and wouldn’t finish. Spit it out in napkin and waited while I finished my meal. I only bothered to finish because I didn’t want to send back and get something just as poor.
Staff didn’t seem to care we were underwhelmed with the food. We paid the over-priced bill for the relative quality of what we got.
Drinks were good.
Appetizer was obviously frozen and over cooked and rubbery. Calimari.
Couldn’t wait to get out. We won’t be back. Got the wife some decent food elsewhere and salvaged the night.
Disappointing for a much awaited night out.
Steampot discount on Tuesdays is a really good deal for 2 to share, and we ordered the steampot for one.
The only issue was the lighting at our table next to a fish tank, was so dark that nobody at the table could read the menu without leaning out towards the light.
Food is great at a reasonable price. Could use a few more things on the dessert menu. Have eaten there several times with friends. We drive all the way from Riverview because all we have is Circles for good seafood. Unfortunately, the same meal would be twice as much there. Waitress was great teasing us and having fun. We have shown our snowbird friends the Saltwater and now they eat there.
Service was slow and the food (salads) had significant foreign substances (sand) on and in them. The first salads were ordered gluten free and came out with bread crumbs on the surface as if the croutons had been picked off before delivery. Salads were replaced. Second salads were less well prepared (fewer items) and had sand on and in them. We refused the salads after having a mouth full of sand to crunch on. Gave the manager samples of sand and she could see it in the salads. We decided to leave at this point, very disappointed with the restaurant.
This is our second time there and both times we were extremely satisfied! Food was delicious, drinks were perfect, and service was great! Would highly recommend it.
Mothers Day, brunch, long time to get order, arrived lukewarm. Seemed there was chaos and not prepared for customers.
mother’s day brunch
ABSOLUTELY AMAZED and not in a good way!!! Lets start by asking, who gets the bill BEFORE the food??? Our server took our order for two steam pots. 45 minutes later they were on there way out to us and the server asks if we will be having dessert? He stated he had been there since 10am and wanted to go home(it was 7pm) We were dumbfounded and told him we weren't really sure. The steam pots where undercooked and we couldn't open and of the clams or oysters. We complained to him and the manager came over. She did take them back to cook. While waiting another 15 minutes for them, our server kept checking to see if we paid the bill. We couldn't even believe it. Totally aggrevated by the server and the food, we told the manager WE WILL NEVER RETURN. THE PLACE IS GOING DOWN HILL FAST
Something went terribly wrong in the kitchen and all three of our meals were bad. Two of us had veal and the meat was not pounded or prepared correctly. My wife's potatoes were more like soup than a side dish. My friends meal was so salty they could barley eat it. Lobster bisque was terrible and had to be returned. I do want to point out that the manager did remove the meals from our checks and apologized for the bad meals. He was surprised that we had any issues at all and did do the right thing. The restaurant was busy so we might have just had the luck of the draw that evening. We may give it another go (maybe) as the staff did the correct thing.
Be sure to try the strip steak and French fries. Worth the trip. Oysters too
Great place for fresh seafood. Try the blackened grouper it very good. Lobster mac and cheese was also good. Nice size portion.
We live a little far away, but it is worth a trip maybe once a month. Food is great!
There was a female bartender there when we got our drink and she did not seem like she wanted to be there. She did make a good drink tho. Chris the general manager took over for her and he was great. Very friendly and also made a good drink. There was 6 of us so we moved to a table for dinner. The service was horrible. I believe our server’s name was Jaelen and he was incognito most of the night. I ordered a shrimp and green pea risotto and my risotto was thick and cold. The shrimp was good. Another person ordered shrimp two ways and mushroom risotto as a side. Her risotto was cold and she sent that back, needless to say it was brought back after most of us had finished our entree. We were charged full price for salads which should have been $4.00 less. We had that corrected but had to wait awhile again.
I would go back and sit at the bar for drinks and perhaps order an appetizer. The music was very nice.
watch out they charge extra for broccoli. !!! didn't notice till after we paid the bill, very sneaky... service was good. Food not special
Cocktails were not what we ordered and had to be sent back. Filet was ordered medium rare and was served well done. Very disappointing food and service!
This was my first visit to the Saltwater Cafe. I do not particularly like seafood so I was happy to see so many options on the menu that were not seafood related. I had pasta with grilled chicken, which was delicious, and the service was top notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others and I plan to go there again myself.
Food was good Our waiter was awesome ! Nice night out !
Been here before and liked it so brought a friend here. Our server was not familiar with anything on the menu so could not answer any questions regarding it. My friend ordered the crawfish and they were frozen when she got them. Server returned them to the kitchen, brought them back out and they were still cold. Our server then went to get the manager/owner. We could see our server being yelled at by the manager. The manager comes to our table does not apologize but offers a free gelato. Are you kidding? Our server was very nice but the manager/owner was anything but. I have gone to this restaurant for years and had never experience anything like this. Perhaps it's new management. I will never return nor will I recommend again.
Disappointed in quality of food, tough overdone chicken.
We were in town for our anniversary and we went there Thursday night and Friday night. It was wonderful. It was an old style gin mill that was delightful to see.
Loved it and will definitely return next time we are in town.
We waited well over an hour for our food and when it arrived our “Wok” dinner was awful! Chicken was extremely dry and the rice was not cooked. We had to ask twice for our server to come over so we could sent it back. Once he finally came over he said he had to get manager to see the food. Manager never came to our table. Waited a long time for our check that we all stood up and literally was waiting. I will say once we did see a manager and explained our dissatisfaction she offered 10% off the bill. We were there for over two hours waiting for food and left hungry. Would not recommend.
Beth was a fabulous server. She has steered us perfectly 2 times.
We came here for Easter dinner since we were staying at the beach. We had looked at the menu online and excited about the steam pots. Unfortunately they were not available on Easter but we still enjoyed a good seafood dinner. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. It was pretty quiet there on Easter but not that busy so can’t really speak about the noise level on a busy night.
Great Seafood. The service was very good. Live music was good for dancing. Lots of locals enjoying the evening
Tremendous and efficient service; extremely tasty food. Well worth the visit.
Was here two years ago had a great grouper sandwich. Was not the same this time.
Hostess was less than receptive and friendly even thou we had a reservation. Once the manager took over things started to happen and we were seated.
Service was good, however, 7 out of the 9 of us all thought the food was marginal at best. The other two were kids.
Extensive menu choices but not matched by the delivery. Fish fry was pedestrian at best. Greasy beer battered cod. Slaw was good. All you can eat fish fry looked like frozen tilapia. Meh. Gazpacho was not very good. Overwhelmed by raw garlic and not fresh tasting. Watery.
Service was rushed, wrong food was delivered, and three tines the waiter delivered the wrong check.
The bar area looked intriguing, but we did not come here for the alcohol.
Poor service had to wait a long time at our table a for a waiter. We noticed other tables were served bread, but we didn’t get any. A busboy dropped many glasses a piece of glass hit our guess in the face.
Well we had a mix of great and poor on our visit on a Monday night. First, on special Monday lobster night, there was no Maine lobster. I did eventually get small rock tails that were great. It was not busy at all. Anyway, it took a good 30 minutes to get drinks, 45 minutes to get our appetizers/salads, and 44 minutes to get the entrees. They had trouble finding difficult requests like vinegar for the salad, au jus for prime rib, and water. My fiancée’s meal was cold. It was reordered and came after everyone else finished.
However, once we got food at the table, every food item was delicious. Unfortunately the service problems disrupted the overall experience. Wish it would have been better. Parking was adequate.
WE WENT FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY FOR THE CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD BUT WE WOULD HAVE PREFERRED THICKER SLICES OF THE CORN BEEF AND THE HORSE RADISH SAUCE ON THE SIDE. PREMIUM COCKTAILS WERE A REAL BARGAIN AT $5.00 PER DRINK. PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE AND THE IRISH COFFEE WAS THE BEST! THE ONLY DRAWBACK WAS THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY IRISH SODA BREAD FOR THE OCCASION. OUR WAITRESS ALEXA WAS INCREDIBLE AND OUTDID HERSELF WITH HER SERVICE. WE ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED OUR EVENING!
Very good service, everyone was friendly, good food.
It helps to have reservations for evening meals. Good Service, fair pricing.
I wasn’t happy with my scallops. They didn’t have any flavor. My husband had the Tuna over pea risotto. He loved it, tuna was cooked to perfection. I think price is a bit high.
It's one of my favorite places to go when visiting Venice! I love their Prime Rib & all their seafood is delicious! You can go with a group, and get a nice big table. If you want a intimate setting, the small booths are cozy and quite. Bar action is fun & lively.
The medium rare prime rib was rare, and full of gristle. Grouper was good. Crab legs were skimpy. The manager looked at the prime rib and should have been horrified, but my guest was too polite to complain. First and last visit there.
It was a terrible experience. Visiting our parents and wanted to take them out for dinner. We were only the 2nd table seated in our area. Waited 20 minutes before a server came to the table. Ordered drinks and water. Waited another 15 minutes before he came back with drinks. He proceeded to pour red wine on my wife. Had to ask for water again. Never came back. All other tables filled up by now and getting food and drinks. Had to ask another server to have him come with our bill. He charged me for the wine. We left after 45 minutes very discouraged... never got water or even asked about ordering food.
