Saltus River Grill Ratings and Reviews
Saltus is always a good, reliable dining experience and tonight was no exception. All 4 meals were good but the turnip pureed soup was exceptional as was the Wreck fish special with pimento cheese grits. Colin served us for the first time and if anything was a little too overly attentive with frequent checks to see if we “needed anything” and asking how are meals were before having taken our first bite. Rather that than being ignored! We will return soon.
We have been trying to eat here since we moved to town a couple of months ago but it never worked out until now. The sushi is better than that other place in town that folks say has the best sushi, hands down, no comparison. The kids’ dinner made me jealous, their fried shrimp and French fries were perfection. My entree, shrimp and grits, was just as good as it was in top restaurants in Charleston and Savannah.
Hadn't been to Saltus in a while since they stopped serving the flat iron steak and thats been years. My wife and her friend ordered the Filet and it was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the strip and again cooked to perfection.I ordered the Delmonico with the Demi-glace sauce.Excellent and I couldn't have cooked better myself. Only thing that wasn't up to par was the caesar salad.Dressing had a very fishy taste to it.I know they use anchovies but the taste was over powering.Great waitress and over all a great experience.
A problem occurred with our reservation availability due to a wedding party, but the management team went out of their way to accommodate us....they took us to their newest restaurant and treated us as VIP's. The food was fantastic. Thank you Robin and Michael!
Saltus is generally a good restaurant to dine at. Lately our visits just haven't been memorable. Tonight the fish special was somewhat dry. Did not have bernaise sauce which was in the description by our waitress. CrabLouie salad was chopped, what I asked for, rather than as a wedge, and just didn't have a good presentation. Might give saltus a break for a bit. Staff seems to have an attitude lately. I just don't feel the price value relation is there.
Early for happy hour, but accommodated us on the outdoor patio on a beautiful day with a beautiful view. Waiter Nicholas was the best. After our drinks, went inside to a fantastic meal! Oysters were wonderful! Trigger fish special was terrific. Spicy scallops were great too. Will return, of course!
We were very disappointed in the menu. I was e-mailed the menu the evening before dinner. WE were pleased with the selections. Friday night though the menu handed to us was different. I asked if an entree was spicy and was told no. It was and most of entree not eaten.
Overall, very disappointed.
Lovely evening and we were able to sit outside, and the outside dining is beautiful. I have NO idea what the mood was inside. We live in Houston, where there are many choices of restaurants, but we rated our experience at Saltus and top notch. Wonderful server, great food, fun evening!
As part time residents of Beaufort County we visit Saltus River Grill regularly. Always fresh seafood and their sushi rolls are beautifully prepared and delicious. The main menu Scallops are outstanding and both the Steakhouse salad and the Arugula and Beet Salad as well.
One of the top 3 restaurants in Beaufort in my opinion.
We ate here three years ago on our way South for the winter and loved it. The food, the service, the location, everything about it. We’ve not been able to come back through Beaufort for the past two years due to floods and Matthew so loved being back this year the the Grill did not disappoint. It’s so good we dined there both nights we were in town.
