We arrived much earlier than reservation and enjoyed a drink outside, while listening to live music (general popular music) and enjoying respite from the no-see-ums that were prevalent everywhere else along the water. We were pleasantly seated early without having to give our name again. Service was very pleasant and not overbearing; we also noticed that solo diners were well respected. Food was very good, nice fresh everything. Crab cake was attractive and tasty.
Higher end of the scale for Beaufort dining, though a bit pricy.
In a town with several very good restaurants, this one really stood out as being exceptional.
Unbelievably poor service . Waiter not that busy, as appeared by number of tables serving.
Felt completely ignored and annoyed by our presence. Late seating 8:45 pm. Was he wanting first cut? Sat 20 minutes before order placed. No water refills. One should not have to flag down a waiter in this quality of establishment. Eye contact was made. Food was excellent.
Service was good and food was ok because the filet minion was over cooked and had zero flavor. The scallop dish was excellent.
Bennett provided superior service and wine recommendations! Shrimp and grits is our favorite dish by far.
Noisey bar crowd detracted from the ambiance.
We were in Beaufort for a Ladies golf weekend. Saltus was recommend to us and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and food delicious. We expecially enjoyed the crab chowder.
always love everything i have from saltus -- i tried the crab cake for the first time and it was outstanding!!! my new favorite!
Very good sushi rolls. Great service and nice atmosphere.
One of our favorite stops in Beaufort. Food is always fun, creative and delicious. Service is excellent -- we have had the good luck to have Nicholas serve us twice in a row. He is peerless.
Thanks to the staff at Saltus for another memorable dinner!!
Came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The Sushi, fish special, and New York Strip were all very good.
The restaurant was lively, our server was professional and we enjoyed a wonderful meal!
Always a great experience at Saltus! ❤️- food, service, ambiance, cleanliness- always excellent.
The server was clueless but the food was good. A bit overpriced and not great choices for wine. What happened to the Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay? The only "oaky" Chardonnay recommended was not oaky at all and $80/bottle. It was far from worth it. It isn't high-end enough to warrant such prices.
Great wait staff. Very professional and very friendly with excellent knowledge of their products
Brilliant evening at Saltus River Grille. I opted for the special (grilled tile fish)--perfectly done, presented. Love this place.
what a find!
The food was fabulous... Loved it!!
One of our go to dining out spots in Beaufort. Always have a good selection of fresh oysters.
Saltus River Grill wonderful. Been there 4 times, each visit very good. This time food maybe better than ever. Music outside was fun. Its a good environment, good vibes. Friendly staff.
Food is generally excellent. Sushi comes out fast but kitchen seems regularly slow on the rest of the meals.
The food here was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed dining here.
Very good choice for dinner. I will go back. Excellent food and service.
Excellent menu - I would have eaten everything on the menu! Food tasted delicious! Hostess was very attentive without being obtrusive and we appreciated the glass of prosecco to help us celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary!
Shrimp and grits was wonderful. Dorado from grill was very small for price and sauce and dish very watery. Person with scallops.said were good but did not like the accompanying hash. Ceasar side salads very small. Service was excellent. Value for the price was poor. So far the only thing to order to order are shrimp and grits and their excellent frites.
Great as always. Never miss coming here when we visit Beaufort. One of my favorite restaurants in South Carolina.
Saltus is my favorite restaurant for raw oysters. Everything is always great there.
The food is great and there is a beautiful view of the intracoastal waterway. Service was very good. It seems a little loud at first, but you seem to forget about it after a bit.
Everything was great start to finish. Best fried lobster ever!!!
Nice evening for outside dining. Great view of the water front with the fire pit going made for a wonderful evening. A few bugs out, but our waitress supplied us with some spray and all was good. Definitely a go back to restaurant.
My favorite restaurant in Beaufort - has been since the first time I crossed onto the island
Food and service were excellent. Noise level is a little high, but manageable.
The sushi is some of the best I’ve had. Nice view of waterfront. Excellent food and restaurant
Overall very enjoyable experience. Noise level was high (ceilings are 20 ft tall with no sound insulation). Waitress very attentive and courteous. Grilled oysters were a favorite as was the twice baked potatoe with lobster chunks. Will return next time we are in Beaufort.
Have been there many times. Not close to previous standard. Service erratic. Wife's fish way overcooked. Server did nothing. Will not return
We had scheduled reservations and immediately got seated. After 5 minutes our serve came by for drink orders. When she returned we mentioned wanting to order oysters, she briefly described them. We had made it pretty clear we were ready to order them but she said she will come right back. 30 minutes went by before we saw her again. We ordered a dozen oysters. Upon her return, she delivered 6 oysters. We told her 12, she came back with 13 “for the inconvenience”.
We both ordered the Delmonico, both Medium rare. Mine was extremely rare, of which I didn’t mind entirely because I enjoy it that way but we had noticed all over the restaurant seals were being returned left and right. When you are paying $40-$50 for a steak you do expect it to be perfect. The cuts were pretty fatty. I won’t claim to be an expert in steak but having eaten some of the best steaks in the state, these were not worth the price at all.
The rest of the evening went relatively well. Not sure if the server was overwhelmed or what but we were there a very long time before we even got bread, etc. With the prices being more “upscale” we did not feel that it was worth it.
On a positive, the atmosphere was great. Very nice indoors and outdoors. Great view. Great smells.
Perfect as always!
Another great experience at Saltus. We love it! Love the “twist” on steak tartare.
We had very good service. Great table by the window. My meal was good but the 1/2 dozen oyster appetizer was very salty. Overall, a nice dinner out.
Saltus is always a good idea and we've gone the last two Valentine's Day for their pre-coursed dinner menu. 4 courses for $75!
Made a date with my fiancé for Valentine’s Day for 8:45. We got there at 8:30 and were told that it would be a 15 minute wait (as expected) but we were welcome to get a drink at the bar while we waited. Not a whole lot of people at the bar but still took 5 minutes for anyone to come over to take our order. She also offered us a menu and said that they were out of salmon but the other sushi and oysters were great if we were interested. We told her we had a table and would order them there. She said ok and we went on our way to be seated. When we were sat, we were told that the menu items were not available an that only the pre-prepared 4 course menu was available. It was $75 per person which is fine but I didn’t want that much food and for $75, I expected better selections. We ended up finishing our wine and left. Would not recommend for any night they have a predetermined menu. Also, ask if the menu is available other than that the bar. I’ve been here before for everyday dining and never had a problem. But I will never go back for a date now.
