Saltus River Grill
We dine here regularly, the experience is consistently good. On this occasion our server was particularly knowledgeable about the food, wine and appropriately attentive to us.
This place is amazing! If you don’t have any allergies I always suggest to just order the food with no substitutes, I do not think I have ever had a bad experience here. The food is well worth the money. The service is always good no matter where u sit, outside, inside and at the bar.
Always fabulous food, drinks, and service! We love to bring our family and friends here!
Loud, slow, overpriced. Tornado (said to be really Mahi Mahi) was undercooked, salmon app was mostly mayo, ordered drinks first, then dinner with wine, served wine & drinks together long before meals. Raw oysters fro Mass medium to large were tasteless and small at best. Ambiance non-existent, loud, rushed, crowded tables. Not an upscale experience as advertised. Don't look for return from this experienced diner.
Service was slow. We had to ask for bread. Steak was tough. Unimpressive experience.
Fantastic food and the best SERVICE
Upscale in every respect. Would recommend for any special occasion. Great ambiance. Spot on service. Outstanding food. Scallops and grouper special were nicely presented and tasty.
Wonderful food, fantastic service and an unbelievably beautiful setting
Impressed with all our beverages and food. Outstanding sushi, fabulous Massachusetts oysters, fresh ingredients and uniquely prepared main dishes.
Had a wonderful retirement celebration with a dear friend here
Scott gave us excellent service (and a delicious dessert) Garner Jones, an old friend who is also a server, popped over with bubbly congratulations, and the food was amazing! A fab venue for a special night! Thank you!
Chef prepared an excellent Low Country vegan entree with vegan bread and vegan butter. The final dish was a unique presentation of a vegan blueberry cheesecake. The meal was excellent and tasty.
Love their menu. I always get the sushi. My wife likes the seafood special. Recommended.
We celebrated our anniversary. Wonderful evening and ad always the food was delicious.
Food and service were both amazing! We will defiantly be back!
The restaurant and staff were very accommodating when our party of 6 morphed into 12! Everyone loved their food and had a great time. A little difficult to manage getting vegetarian option. Great experience overall!
Great bartender, fantastic waiter and excellent food. No better place to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Thanks for a great evening .
The Carmalized Scallops were the best scallops my wife and I have ever eaten. ALL 3 OF THEM. $32 was extremely high for 3 Scallops, but again, they were the best!!! The accompaniments with the Scallops were amazing as well.
Blackened Dorato is Delicious, grab a table on the patio and enjoy the view.
The noise level and volume of the 'music' is more than we find comfortable!!
Starting with consistantly great service from Joey, every part of the evening was outstanding. Each food item was more delicious than the last. Ended with a complimentary dessert to celebrate my mom's 95th birthday. Out favorite restaurant in Beaufort...and there are many fine ones.
Nice spot with an awesome atmosphere. Food was on point! Portions are a bit small.
Great food. Very fresh seafood. Server was friendly and made sure our needs were met.
It was great! Great food and wonderful view also! Very central spot in downtown Beaufort
Clean, contemporary design. Simple menu with some complex and delectable food combinations made it a little hard to choose my dining order. GREAT offering of daily specials. Wonderful and attentive service from Devin. Excellent night out!
We visit everytime we are in town and have never been disappointed. Soup of the day was, as it always is, fantastic (this time a light, lovely squash with a melange of pickled tomatoes on top)! I had the grouper special with a hash of seasonal veggies on Carolina gold rice and surrounded by a lovely Bernaise sauce and my dinner companion the shrimp and grits. Both were outstanding! Thanks for many enjoyable meals and more to come. We really appreciate the quality local ingredients and attention to detail.
Both the food and service were exceptional. Love the location & atmosphere as well.
Wonderful evening meal for our anniversary. They serviced us champagne and we ordered dessert. Delicious start to finish. Great atmosphere and view.
I’ve dined here many times, it being a favorite restaurant when I visit the Beaufort area for annual beach vacations. But tonight’s dinner beat them all in all respects. I had the local oysters, both fresh and wood grilled, and I’d say they were among the best I ever tasted. The accompanying sauces the chef prepared were creative and perfect enhancements for an already delicious staple. We split a crab Louis salad and the shrimp and grits and I’m
Glad we split because had we not, I would have eaten both of them In their entirety. We finished our meal by splitting the housemade Brown Butter Bourbon ice cream which again did not disappoint and again I would have licked the bowl. A must visit place for a great dining experience in Beaufort.
Arrived early and was told that we could sit but not actually get fed for awhile because the kitchen was too busy. However, our lovely server came immediately and took our order and the food came quickly. It was quite tasty. Not great, but more than good enough.
Service was impeccable. Dinners and apps delicious. Desert was fabulous. Setting was picturesque and breezy.
Saltus was a lively crowded place but was the atmosphere that we like, good food and the service was very polite. Great Texas lady working the bar (we are from Texas ;)
Would highly recommend this restaurant.
The 2 reviews I gave five stars were due to the friendliness of our server and the atmosphere. I paid $18 for an appetizer of 6 oysters that were the size of a pea. You are paying for the atmosphere and the water view. I would suggest driving to Port Royal for dining which is only 10 minutes away.
Saltus can compete with any big city top tier restaurant. Beaufort is fortunate to have her. Thoughtful setups to traditional seafood options, innovative cocktails, good affordable wines by the glass. Love this place.
Family dinner. Everything- drinks, food, server, all perfect.
Always delicious, and the waitstaff brings their ‘A’ game. Only downside is that when they are busy, the noise level rises to a point where it’s uncomfortable and difficult to hear the person sitting across the table.
Service was extremely slow. Food was overpriced for quality
The quality of our food was good but the portions were awful. Paying $32. for four scallops is a real rip plus the sides were extra. A 2x4 inch size of Mahi is really an appetizer not an entree. As far as service is concerned, we were given the dessert menu while eating our entree. Do you think we were rushed? We couldn’t wait to leave!
The food was divine! We made a reservation unknowing that the outside seating is first come first serve. At 6 p.m. on a Saturday there were no available tables outside. We took our table inside which was fine as well, but really wanted that water view. It was difficult selecting a meal because it all looked delicious. Our cocktails were extremely strong but I guess that's a good thing. Haha. We will definitely be back!
What could be better than sitting on the Saltus' patio....a beautiful evening and a fantastic meal. We had a most wonderful evening....thanks.
Always a pleasurable experience ! Fine dining at a waterside table or inside in a 5 star setting. The food is fabulous regardless of where you choose to sit. Complete bar with a large selection of Bourbon and fine wines.
