Great evening! Devin our server was fantastic, and the food was delicious!
Our first time at Saltus River Grill and it was terrific. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks at the bar, so nice that we almost ate dinner at the bar. Dining room was large but intimate and the sushi, scallops and mahi was delicious. Mahi actually superb. Thanks to our excellent server, Andrew, we selected the wine he suggested and the meal was perfect, service could not have been better. Thank you Andrew.
The food and atmosphere was lovely . Unfortunately the food was delivered so quickly we felt like we were in a fast food restaurant. The crab bisque arrived within minutes of ordering followed VERY quickly by our entrees . Considering the food is a bit pricey I think the service should slow way down so patrons can enjoy the ambiance and a fine dining experience. We were literally out the door in 45 minutes.
We've had great meals at Saltus but this was a bad experience. Very poor service despite the dining room really only being about half full. Waiter was slow & surly - didn’t greet us or anything, just asked us for our order, took it and then disappeared. Food finally showed up about 45 min later. I ordered salmon but got some kind of whitefish. Told him to not bother replacing it as we were now in a hurry to go and pick up our daughter. My wife wolfed her steak down in about 10 min with no time to savor it, much less engage in conversation. Saturday date night ruined. Much later, I went to McDonald's drive-thru for a cheeseburger. No kidding.
Awesome server and delicious oysters!
It's important to note that Beaufort in general was VERY quiet this past week, with very low energy and not many people out and about, I assume because people were being cautious due to Covid outbreaks. Thus, the restaurant lacked any "buzz" even though it was a Saturday evening. We chose to sit outside for better air flow and safety, and while it was a beautiful night with a superb view of the harbor, we were swarmed by literally hundreds of large flies when the food arrived. Thankfully, our waiter immediately moved us inside, saying it just happens from time to time toward the end of the summer. I'm not sure the cause, but it was a bit disconcerting.
Most of the food however, was very good. My wife had the Caesar salad and some of the romaine had brown edges to it, which suggests it may have been a bit dated. The croutons however, were excellent. I had the Charred Oysters. They came 6 to and order, and while the flavor was good, the oysters themselves were some of the smallest I have ever seen. For $18, it was disappointing.
For our main course my wife had the scallops with bacon, sweet potatoes and Brussel Sprouts, and I had the Blackened Dorado, both of which were very good, once we got past the flies.
Overall, I think the Saltus Grill would be an excellent choice for dinner if you're in Bluffton looking for a nice place to eat that also has a desirable view, however be careful about the flies!
Anniversary dinner. Delivered complimentary champagne, nice touch. Service was very good and timely. Side ceaser salad was very good. Main course was excellent. I had scallops, wife had blackened salmon. Both done to perfection. Excellent use of sauces. Desert was spot on as well.
They turned the music up really loud in the restaurant at 8:00. Others that had just walked in for dinner complained, but they did not turn it down. Thank goodness our meal was almost over by then. Service was great! Food was good.
Every year when visiting Hilton Head, we make sure we get in a dinner at Saltus. Well worth the drive. We think you have one of the most beautiful bars EVER. The lighting is special.
Our waitress, Lexi , was exceptional last night. Thank you for a delicious dinner. I am already looking forward to seeing you all next year!
Great food and atmosphere. Service was slow but waiter worked hard to make it right by buying us drinks and an appetizer! Food was well prepared and fresh.
Loved it. Staff so attentive and friendly. Never rushed. Sat outside. Beautiful.
Food was delicious. Mahi Mahi and flounder. Buttermilk pie was outstanding.
Can highly recommend the shrimp and grits and the lobster roll salad. The service was excellent and very friendly.
A favorite spot for celebrating birthdays. Great food and service!
Had cucumber roll, lobster salad (excellent) and crab bisque. Crab bisque was a little spicy. Everything was very good
Very accommodating for my birthday. Had a special treat at the end
We loved Saltus. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect. We will be back!
Setting can’t be beat. So peaceful. We find ourselves staring out on the water.
Service was terrible. Food was not worth the cost
At many restaurants with a view this good, the food plays second fiddle, but not here. Saltus was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The sushi was very fresh and delicious, the scallops were tender and cooked just right, and the tartar was amazing. But the absolute star was the she crab soup, the best I’ve ever had. The service was also top notch and the restaurant was kind enough to give us champagne on the house since we were on our honeymoon. Highly recommend Saltus.
This is the best restaurant in Beaufort hands down. We sat outside and it was perfect. The food was outstanding and the wait staff too. I had the Dorado and my husband had the shrimp and grits. We split the wedge. All were delicious. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you Saltus for an unforgettable evening.
Overall a great experience. Patio seating had a wonderful view of the sunset!
Our food and service were both outstanding! We loved everything about our meal and would definitely return to try some other things off the menu!
Great spot to enjoy a couple's dinner. Excellent service and food. Will definitely recommend to friends...
Out of town relatives
We had to wait a while to get waited on but our waiter was excellent. Scallops were wonderful but sauce hid the Brussels sprouts. Leave off that heavy sauce and put balsamic glaze on Brussels sprouts. Would be so much better. Ordered bread and didn’t receive till after dinner was over. Not waiters fault. Do something to get rid of flies.
Food was just ok
Make sure you eat outside--view is fabulous, and inside is TOO noisy.
We were celebrating my birthday. Kirstie was our server and was lovely! Food excellent but have to say it is a bit pricey. But, overall, it was a lovely evening! I would recommend Saltus for a special evening!
Disappointed in this highly rated spot.
On a Sunday evening several items were sold out
I got the filet and it was rubbery and pricey !!!
Not sure we return
On the plus side our server was wonderful. Things got slow but she kept us well informed and checked on us often
Service was amazing, food was outstanding. We did not get to go to Mexico for our normal anniversary celebration. Our waiter brought out a piece of cheesecake with a candle to celebrate our anniversary. Very laid back upscale atmosphere. The meal was amazing.
We had a wonderful experience! Carlos was our waiter and he was exceptional! So kind and accommodating and he is what made our experience so great!! We will be back and will be asking for Carlos.
My server provided excellent service and was very attentive
We enjoyed the Saltus River Grill. We ended up sharing small plates, sushi roll and oysters. Everything was prepared well and arrived promptly. They has some staff limitations and they worked well together to make it a good experience. We had an inside table with no view. Overall we recommend.
This was the first time we've been back since covid. The restaurant seemed a bit shabby and in need of some maintenance. The food was good but a bit pricey for the portions. What really bothered us is that we asked for bread and received 2 very small roasted pieces of French bread and we were charged $3.00! It might have been nice if the server to inform us there would be a change. Crossing this restaurant off of our list. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. Very disappointing.
We went to Saltus for our anniversary. They provided us a complimentary glass of champagne which was very good start. The food and service was very good. I only the restaurant 4 stars for ambience because we were seated at a small 2 person table, I found this a little cramped. Yes we were only 2 people but not much room on the table for bread plates etc…, had to jockey things around to accommodate the dishes. Luckily we were sitting next to a window so we were able to use the window sill as extra space. The drinks, wine and food were absolutely great. The prices were a little on the higher end but the quality of the food and drinks were great. We highly recommend the Saltus Grill.
Good was not what I expected
We ordered appetizers and the salads came but no appetizers for quite a while
