Saltus River Grill
Third time there each better than before. Outstanding fish dishes. Patio wonderful.
$35 for 3 medium sized scallops was a bit much. The coffee was really terrible - bitter. Waiter never asked if we wanted more coffee (we were going to ask him about the coffee, but he never gave us the chance). For a fairly nice restaurant, there were people dressed really crappy - t-shirts (and loud), which didn't help the overall experience.
Great seafood and wonderful view! A great dining experience in Beaufort!
Saltus River Grill is a 'solid' restaurant in Beaufort that's offering exquisite seafood faire. Our server provided an exceptional dining experience. We will visit this location again the next time we're in the Beaufort area.
I requested for something specific and they did just that without asking me or anything - just did what was asked and went above and beyond with their service!!! We love their food!!! Thank you for a wonderful night!
If we are back this way we will be back.. everything was great from the time we got I until we left! Keep up the good work!
It was a greatful dinner, very attentive friendly service!
We had a table at the window. We are happy!
The light was good, but un the room it‘s too dark in the evening.
We saw guests they had to use their Handyflashlight to read the menue card.
Food was very good! Relatively small portions but delicious!
Excellent food as always and our server, Kevin was fantastic!
Saltus is simply the best restaurant in Beaufort. Each time we visit Beaufort we always eat here. We have always experienced excellent service and wonderful food. We have always felt welcomed here. If you haven’t tried Saltus yet, you need to. Believe you will be glad you did.
Their take on oysters Rockafella with the collard greens was outstanding.
Favorite place in Beaufort. Good food and atmosphere!!
Love sitting outside when I get the chance to come to Saltus. Definitely one of the better atmospheres around. Food is always on point.
Beautiful evening on the river. The corn chowder with kimchi and pork belly croutons was amazing!
Overall the food was excellent except the fries. My steak was cooked perfectly but the fries that were served with it were limp and did not have much flavor. I think they should serve thicker fries as this would enhance the dish.
We had the restaurant week menu. I had steak sous vide over mashed potatoes with wilted spinach. It was too watery and could have been a bit warmer. We waited a long time for our food despite the restaurant not being that busy. Panna cotta for dessert could have used a bit more firmness in keeping with the night’s theme of everything being a bit too watery. Overall, a good but not great experience. This is normally our favorite restaurant in town and a shade below their usual quality.
Was a delightful dining experience. Service was excellent as was the food. Will look forward to our next visit to Beaufort and Saltus River Grill.
Always wonderful - we were well taken care of by Colin was excellent - love this place and will return time and again.
Although they couldn’t squeeze us in a half hour earlier, they pulled out the stops for my mom’s early birthday celebrations. Not only did they give her a free glass of wine but they also gave her a dessert with a candle. The dry rose they had was also excellent, and now living in London, I appreciate that even more. I’d also cross the Atlantic for the crab bisque ... (and to see my parents who live in Beaufort).
This was an unexpected gem on our visit to Parris Island to see my Marine graduate. We loved it so much we ate there twice and also had lunch at their Pizza place next door. The ambiance, the wait staff, the attention, and the food was beyond excellent. I can't recommend this place enough. It's a must when you're in town.
We came for a special birthday. The staff made it a very special occassion. Couldn’t have asked for better.
Great restaurant, go there regularly and they never disappoint.
Great food and ambiance! The service was fantastic, too. I really enjoyed the "Chicken and Dumplings". And I always challenge a restaurant to make me my new favorite Dirty Martini and Saltus River Grill rose to the challenge! I would highly recommend. The ONLY negative thing I could say is I'm a bit of a fanatic about dirty windows and theirs definitely needed a cleaning because the view is too pretty to look out dirty windows.
Creative food. Chicken and dumplings was very moist and tasty. Shrimp and Grits very good-- It had a lighter sauce than many places. They ran out of the Fish Special but it looked really creative and great. Many tourist towns have average food but Saltus really came thru for us. We will be back
Saltus has always been ”reliable” for good, fresh seafood, good service, and a meeting place for friends. If the weather permits, their outdoor dining facilities are perfect. The noise level is good- never loud, and good for conversation. I have been there dozens of times over the years - never disappointed.
We have been to Saltus a number of times and have always walked away with a smile on our face...thus it pains me to give them a low score this time. Having said that, our food was anything but great. Dry grilled Mahi Mahi, even with the bechemal sauce. The shrimp and grits was more of a “soup“, lacking flavor, consistency and Luke warm to cool temperature. Very disappointed in our meal that night...not sure we’ll be back. Service....slow on a not so busy evening.
Excellent shrimp and grits!
We visit Saltus River Grill 5-6 times a year. This evening was exceptional, cool enough to comfortably sit outside with enough breeze to stay cool and keep any bugs away. Our server Collin was just about perfect in the amount of conversation and direction. He knew the menu and and wine list well and kept the flow of the evening a a perfect rate. My wife's Scallop entree'was Delicious according to her and my Sushi was great as well. We both enjoyed the Crab Louis Salad prior to our meal.
Sushi is best in town. Craft beer selection is great.
Our server, Margaret, was professional, knew her menu and confident.
We started out with great Mojitos with friendly and knowledgeable bartender, Tye, and then Tanasia gave same excellent service for dinner service. Our Crab Bisque was excellent with chunks of crab and delicious bisque! The Crabcake and steamed spinach were very good, as well as Blackened Dorado. All was tasty and prepared very nicely! All our servers were delightful!
A wonderful experience! Great food, beautiful setting and outstanding service.
Crab cakes and oysters on the half-shell were amazing. Carb "cake" was all meat and the sauce made the dish. Try the Parmesan and white truffle oil fries - delish!
Great service and food. Local ingredients excellent presentation and taste.
Just ok food. Service was just ok as well. Wasn’t impressed. Very expensive for what we got. We got so called chicken and dumplings. Costco chicken for $5 million times better and you get a whole chicken!!!!
Absolutely amazing! My husband and I dined for my birthday and Katie was simply terrific. The food was incredible & we cannot wait to return on our vacation again next year from Maryland.
Delicious Food, Great Service! Special occasion was my wife's birthday dinner. Booked through Open Table about a week in advance. Got a nice follow-up from the restaurant/Open Table to confirm which I did. Arrived about 10 minutes early and we were promptly seated with an offer of inside or outside. Since we were a bit more "dressed" we chose inside and got a nice table with a view of the water. Server promptly greeted us with a smile and took our drink orders. Nice wine selection and great selection of crafted cocktails. For dinner we both had the side Caesar Salad and the Dorado...mine blackened my wife's not. Salads were wonderful with a great "real" Caesar dressing. Both of the Dorado orders were done perfectly. I would have enjoyed just a bit more "bite" from the blackened, but that is a personal taste item and in NO WAY detracted from the wonderful taste of the offering. We had the strawberry desert of the day which was delicious. Overall, this was a great choice and we can highly recommend the food and the service which was a perfect balance of attentive and non-intrusive.
This restaurant is perfect!!! Love the ambiance, service and food. What more can I say.
A favorite go to on Sunday evenings. So enjoy the live music with Vic Verner, although it was rained out last week. Always good food, great wait staff and just an all around wonderful local feel of Beaufort.
Emily was nice as usual, and Collin was on point as usual!! The food was yummy!
I am a resident of Beaufort. Saltus has always been my favorite especially when taking visitors to the waterfront. I have been here for 20 years and spent a great deal of money at Saltus. I have been thru countless management, chiefs and menu changes. My wife and I brought our daughter to celebrate her 24th birthday. She is a second year medical student at MUSC Charleston. We were seated at a very nice table. However we waited over 20 minutes for our entrees. All three were not served hot. I ordered the carmalized scallops. They were cold and the 3 small scallops were buried in a corn, fried ochre salad of some sort. It was terrible and I sent it back. My family was completely finished with their meals when I received the replacement salmon. I asked for the check. The first check I received showed a discount of 50% off my entree. Following much discussion the manager removed the cost of the scallops. Never offered a coupon or any other compensation to a long term local customer. My birthday girl was not presented with a desert nor were we offered complementary dessert for the table to compensate for a bad visit to Saltus. This is a terrible way to run a business. I left the waiter a 25% tip as I often do even though the service was barely acceptable. We discussed not returning to Saltus and looked for alternatives for future events. Bad service, cold food, high expections - low reality on quality of scallops, limited interaction with management who needed to know that I was a long term customer but failed to ask and handle properly. I was embarrassed to have brought my daughter to experience such a bad visit to Saltus. The whole thing could have been handled so much better. It is your return customers who pay the bills. I would suggest keeping that in mind. My average spending is around $200 per visit.
