Food is delicious, service was excellent, and ambiance was delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant (but it’s a rather small venue so you will need a reservation).

Been going here since they were on Westheimer. The tapa de lomo is an experience. A bit expensive but you won't be hungry.

Very interesting menu. A Mexican Steak house with some very pricey food along with some very inexpensive food. The four sauces that were served with the appetizer Cubos De Queso Fritos were super yummy! Portions were generous and I heard other people at the next table raving about the hamburger. I will return.

Outstanding food & service. Best meal I’ve had in months. The owner came by and checked on us & comped a great Mexican port wine to provide a perfect finish to an amazing meal.

This was our second visit. We went back for the Wagu beef meatball appetizers! They did not disappoint! Also ordered the trio of tamales, chicken enchiladas, and the chicken breast meal. All were delicious!

extremely tasty rib cap steak, tender and as good as it gets. Beats filet mignon hands down. Expensive but fair considering that its a terrific steak that feeds four people and provides very tasty sides. Good wine (Nexus),as well for $55. This restaurant deserves its popularity.

A great little find in Bellaire with good, authentic presentation. I had the steak, while others in the group had enchiladas. It was Cinco de Mayo, and to Saltillo’s credit they didn’t go overboard on it.

Excellent food, great ambience, reasonable price for the interior Mexican entrees. Houston Chronicle food critic Allison Cook is correct to have this as one of her top 20 restaurants. The meatball and queso fundido appetizers are wonderful. And the various salsas served with chips are awesome. Two small reasons I gave it four rather than five stars overall: my meal was lukewarm (the rest of my party said the same). Second, had to ask for refills of water. (Servers kept the chip bowls filled, I will say.) Definitely will return.

I have been hearing about Saltillo from friends and finally visited, hoping that the food would live up to all the hype. It did indeed. The meal was delicious and I highly recommend the steaks. I'm not much of a beef eater but that is the restaurant's specialty and with good reason. Charcoal grilled to perfection with lots of flavor. I will be back to try other menu items that tempted me.

This is a Mexican steakhouse with fairly high prices located in a small Unassuming strip center in Bellaire. Their specialty is beef and the steak my husband ordered was very good. We started with the three tacos which were three corn tortillas one with chicken one with pork and one with beef. They had no vegetables or cheese or other ingredients on them but you could make use of the four salsas that they give you with your chips at the beginning of your meal. The beef was the tastiest of the three.

Since I was already starting to feel full from the tacos I ordered the shrimp quesadillas as my main course. They were very greasy and basically a lot of cheese and a little bit of shrimp. Again no accompanying guacamole, sour cream or pico de gallo comes with this. It is on the appetizer menu.

My husband ordered a combination that had two mole enchiladas and a small strip steak. He enjoyed his meal.
The steak was small but cooked properly and very tender and seasoned well. The Mole sauce was really good.

This is not the kind of Mexican restaurant where you can expect to find an extensive choice of margaritas. They do not have a frozen margarita but they do serve on the rocks. My preference is always for frozen when I eat Mexican food so this was a bit of a disappointment.

They have a nice wine list and for the most part the wines are reasonably priced. Since I live in the Heights and this restaurant is not super close I doubt we will return but I did not think it was a bad meal.

the ambience is very nice and although the service seemed a little slow at first they picked up the pace eventually and we had good service for the rest of our meal.

This was our first trip to Saltillo and we were very impressed. The service was excellent, and the owner came over to introduce himself and confirm we were happy. The chips and salsa are always the first test, and these were exceptional. We got 4 salsas, from mild to hot, to try and they were all very good. I ordered 2 of the appetizers, and it was enough food for 3 meals. Food was wonderful. This place is a gem!

After having eaten at all the Houston steakhouses, this is the one I declare to serve the most interesting and delicious steaks. The unusual cuts - ask for a guide to less well known cuts - are delicious as well, with a lovely sweet smoky note. Francisco the manager will take good care of you! Finally, if you have 6 people, definitely order the Tapa De Lomo, probably the best meat you'll eat all year.

Saltillo NEVER disappoints! From the time you walk in until the time you leave you are treated like family. The food is authentic and delicious! The service is impeccable. First, you can’t go wrong with their margaritas. Get one! For starters try the shrimp offerings or beef carpaccio. Cheese lovers try the queso, it is so good! My favorite entree is the Tampiquena, a little bit of all that’s good on one plate! Steak, enchiladas mole, a quesadilla and guacamole. To finish, the flourless pecan pie can’t be beat or for something lighter get a glass of one of their fabulous ports.
If your plan on going on a Friday or Saturday get a reservation first! They are always busy!

The service was spectacular. The food-not so great. I had the red snapper. It was a little underdone and lacked flavor. The grilled vegetables and rice were cold. My friend had the tamale trio and they were pretty dry. I also felt the food was overpriced for what was on the plate. The tamales came on a big plate. They sat in the middle with a sauce covering them-nothing else on the plate.

As always, I had a wonderful dining experience at Saltillo’s, which is why I chose this restaurant to go to for my birthday dinner. The Manager always personally makes my Brandy Alexander (the best I have ever had!), and I always get the magnificent Shrimp Cocktail appetizer, with three #8 size Sea of Cortez HUGE shrimp!! My husband and I always split the 8 oz Eye of the Ribeye and Enchilada’s (your choice of enchiladas: enchiladas Saltillo, enchiladas Saltillo con pollo, or Tacos de Pollo en Mole. I eat the ribeye and my husband eats the enchiladas! A nice glass of Riesling with my meal, and I’m a happy camper!!

This was our second visit to the restaurant and will sadly be our last. We had a lovely appetizer that was delicious although it was floating in orange oil (Case Fundido). I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and although they were good, they were not exceptional (enchiladas verde). My husband had the tacos de pollo en mole and they were severed just above room temperature which of course ruined the dish. It seemed that both dishes started with the same basic hard enchilada with chicken and then was smothered in each sauce. We didn't say anything to the waiter; we just decided to never return. We prefer not to make a scene but feel compelled to write a review.
