Our waiter was spot on, he was efficient and very knowledgeable! The mole was the best I have ever tasted. My companions enjoyed their eye of the round and the vegetables that accompanied the steak. I will definitely return for another visit.

After having eaten at all the Houston steakhouses, this is the one I declare to serve the most interesting and delicious steaks. The unusual cuts - ask for a guide to less well known cuts - are delicious as well, with a lovely sweet smoky note. Francisco the manager will take good care of you! Finally, if you have 6 people, definitely order the Tapa De Lomo, probably the best meat you'll eat all year.

Saltillo NEVER disappoints! From the time you walk in until the time you leave you are treated like family. The food is authentic and delicious! The service is impeccable. First, you can’t go wrong with their margaritas. Get one! For starters try the shrimp offerings or beef carpaccio. Cheese lovers try the queso, it is so good! My favorite entree is the Tampiquena, a little bit of all that’s good on one plate! Steak, enchiladas mole, a quesadilla and guacamole. To finish, the flourless pecan pie can’t be beat or for something lighter get a glass of one of their fabulous ports.
If your plan on going on a Friday or Saturday get a reservation first! They are always busy!

The service was spectacular. The food-not so great. I had the red snapper. It was a little underdone and lacked flavor. The grilled vegetables and rice were cold. My friend had the tamale trio and they were pretty dry. I also felt the food was overpriced for what was on the plate. The tamales came on a big plate. They sat in the middle with a sauce covering them-nothing else on the plate.

As always, I had a wonderful dining experience at Saltillo’s, which is why I chose this restaurant to go to for my birthday dinner. The Manager always personally makes my Brandy Alexander (the best I have ever had!), and I always get the magnificent Shrimp Cocktail appetizer, with three #8 size Sea of Cortez HUGE shrimp!! My husband and I always split the 8 oz Eye of the Ribeye and Enchilada’s (your choice of enchiladas: enchiladas Saltillo, enchiladas Saltillo con pollo, or Tacos de Pollo en Mole. I eat the ribeye and my husband eats the enchiladas! A nice glass of Riesling with my meal, and I’m a happy camper!!

This was our second visit to the restaurant and will sadly be our last. We had a lovely appetizer that was delicious although it was floating in orange oil (Case Fundido). I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and although they were good, they were not exceptional (enchiladas verde). My husband had the tacos de pollo en mole and they were severed just above room temperature which of course ruined the dish. It seemed that both dishes started with the same basic hard enchilada with chicken and then was smothered in each sauce. We didn't say anything to the waiter; we just decided to never return. We prefer not to make a scene but feel compelled to write a review.

Great spot for a no fuss nice meal. Informal but nice atmosphere. Great menu consisting of a Mexican-themed steakhouse. Friendly staff, good drink selection. Has a small bar area. Well-decorated. The manager stopped by twice to check on us and tell us about upcoming events. Waitress was attentive and accurate with our orders. Stop by some time!

Wonderful surprise! The wealth of other reviews are accurate - Looks like another strip shopping mall restaurant from the outside, but has a nice cozy and personable atmosphere inside. Service is attentive, cocktails are delicious, 4 sauces with the chips are a nice variety and the food - from the fish, to the steaks and other true Mexican dishes are delightful. Also a decent wine selection, all for good value.

We had my son's birthday dinner there on a Saturday night. We made a reservation for 5:30 pm because we wanted to catch a movie after. It's good we did, even though it was empty when we arrived it filled very quickly and soon people were waiting for tables. We shared the Tapo de Lomo (the steak) between 4 people and had plenty of leftovers. It was delicious and made for a nice birthday celebration.

One of my favorite Houston restaurants! The Eye of the Ribeye steak is excellent, as is the jumbo/colossal Sea of Cortez shrimp cocktail dppetizer! My favorite cocktail is their Brandy Alexander, which they serve in a brandy snifter.

Our first time at Saltillo. I read reviews that encouraged us to try. From the beginning, the service was excellent. The usual chips and salsa were very special--four different kinds of salsa--from mild tomatillo/avocado to fiery habanero--all wonderful. We usually share things at restaurants and so ordered one wedge salad--not very Oaxacan, but a favorite of my husband. It was big enough for three people-but very fresh and delicious. We each ordered an enchilada dish, mine was their chicken mole, and my husband's was the chicken verde. The mole dish was quite good, although I would recommend they heat the plates more--as mine were not as hot as they should have been. My husband's verde enchiladas were good--very fresh, but could have used somehting to provide a more distict flavor--a little boring. By the way, the house margaritas, which use a reposada tequila were excellent! Overall, we definitely think this Oaxacan-specialty restaurant--which was quite busy on a Fri night is a keeper!!!

Were regulars at the old Westheimer location, so we wondered over to the new Bellaire spot. Bit plainer and smaller, but the bar is still a fun spot. The food is exactly the same: great. You need to try the Tapa de lomo with a group. Best Saltillo style cuisine this side of the border.
They need to bring back more Mexican wines like Casa Madero, but there is good enough variety.
