SALT Kitchen and Bar
Anniversary dinner. Delicious and not rushed. Creative food.
Our waitress was significantly over worked and unable to deliver the good service that she was obviously capable of
Food great but service a little slow.
As always the service was impeccable, our server, Luis, was exceptional and the food was delicious. We choose Salt for our special occasions.
Disappointed on this visit . Had to wait for a at least 5 minutes before some one seated us. No one was at host station. Was at least an half before we received water and had our order taken. Also didn't like that some items on the menu have changed. Used to have a delicious haddock entre. And a vegetarian (mushroom ) risotto . I am allege rich to to shellfish, and regret there are notwo more plain fish options.
Simply EXCELLENT! It was later in the evening and we wanted a nice place to eat and what a surprise we got from the Siri suggestion. Beautiful decor, exceptional music....and I can’t say enough about the food - it was over the top delicious! I had the salmon and my sister had the scallops - both were great!
Nice setting. Great location. Inventive menu. Friendly server. But they messed up our order twice. Food was very good, just not necessarily what we ordered. Net-net: we thought it was good, but it could have been great.
The atmosphere is wonderful along with the food and staff. We try to eat here once a month.
Girls night with my daughters
My husband and I booked dinner for our anniversary. The place is absolutely beautiful, a historic old hotel with an fully updated, modern restaurant. The service is very friendly and down to earth. The servers make you feel right at home. Haley was our server and was fabulous! The food is delicious, perfectly prepared and pleasing to the eye. We were very happy with all aspects of the experience and will definitely be back.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Service and food were outstanding.
We could hear a table 4 tables over talking very loudly about medical issues.
That said it was a great experience. No value tho when you pay $15 for a small glass of wine! The wine was great, I only comment because I was asked about value.
Took my husband and son here for a birthday dinner and special night out. While the food was very good, the service was disappointing to say the least. There was no effort to engage or connect with us on any level, just a robotic server who covered the basics. I had asked upon reservation for a cake or birthday dessert which they made no note of. It wound up being a night that didn’t feel special at all. We just ate a delicious meal in what felt like a sterile and cold environment.
Overall this was a wonderful dining experience. Ordering an Italian meal in a non-Italian restaurant is always risky, and with that in mind the dish was certainly flavorful and well prepared but not in the manner of how it would be done in a traditional Italian restaurant. The appetizers were excellent and dessert truly delicious. The atmosphere was lovely with interesting and well appointed furnishing elegant but comfortable all at once.
I always give Salt five stars across the board but this time I was disappointed in the food. I am not sure if they have a different chef on Sunday and that was the cause. However, I will be back again in a few weeks. Word to the wise: don’t get the gnocchis. And the new dessert menu is a little disappointing.
The staff went beyond what we expected. They insured that our anniversary was wonderful. The food was exemplary; we gave our praises to the chefs.
Food was fantastic, ambiance was stunning. Waiter was friendly and out going. They have us complimentary truffles after dinner. The food was tasty and a perfect portion size.
We have eaten several times at Salts , this time we ate outside on the porch. Quite not much view .
Service was good , even after a glass of wine was spilled on me. The server was attentive helping clean my clothes, manager did come by to apologize. We were comped for our appetizers .
My only suggestion to the manager was to offer to have my outfit dry cleaned , along with my Chanel bag.
Overall we will be back. Great food and drinks!
The service is sub par , we had dinner and breakfast here and the waiters basically ignore you unless they are handing you the food. The food tastes good , but the service ruins the atmosphere
We had an absolutely delicious dinner. The food was outstanding! We especially loved the lobster ravioli with chunks of lobster in a creamy, but not too rich, sauce. Our appetizers were also delicious and we were very pleased with the cheese board. Our drinks were good but pricey and our bottle of wine was very (too) expensive. Overall a wonderful evening in a beautiful setting with excellent service.
months ago I requested a window seat for our special 60th that we drove all the way from Colorado to celebrate. we didn't get it. very disappointed . food so so, drinks very good. the place has degraded one the last 10 year. how hum....won't be back.
Go to salt if you would like time to spend quietly with friends. The atmosphere and service is conducive to a private quiet get together with old friends. Our waitress Karen was fabulous. We always enjoy the ambience and the food. Going again next week. The lobster roll looked like it had two lobsters in it with nothing but a little mayo. You absolutely had to eat it with a fork.
Food was amazing, a bit expensive, compared to other places in town.
Excellent all around. I particularly recommend the lobster ravioli.
We asked for a table for two to celebrate our 50 years of marriage and were seated next to a table of six women when the dining room was nearly empty. We decided to ask our server to move us to a quieter location when he returned with our dinner rolls, but he was no where to be found. We ended up moving ourselves and asked someone to alert our server that we had moved and were still waiting for our rolls; he finally brought them out right when our meal was served and was fairly inattentive thereafter. While we were eating, a dining room manager (?) started instructing servers on how to set the tables for the evening meals...right next to ours! Mind you the dining room was still sparsely populated. Thank goodness the food was excellent because the service was sadly lacking.
The food was out standing and nicely presented. Looking forward to returning.
Lunch was amazing! Cooked to perfection! Our waitress Hilary was so attentive and was more than willing to accommodate some special requests.
Low quality food
We've been to Salt a handful of times. It is consistently delicious. We don't gravitate toward higher end restaurants, but for special occasions Salt always has been a choice that leaves us feeling every dish was exceptional.
A few years ago they had zeppolis on the dessert menu and we'd love to see those come back! They were ridiculously good. We mention this to friends and they too long for their return.
We love to dine there and try to do it once a month. Atmosphere, food, and service are super.
On this evening, we were here for my daughter’s 21st birthday. As always, the restaurant was gorgeous, the food delicious and beautifully presented, and the waitstaff perfect. I am a very particular diner, but I have never had a bad experience at Salt. Chantelle and Thomas were amazing and treated my daughter with such care - thank you again!
My family and I are staying at the hotel and had dinner in the dining room at SALT on June 13th. The server was incredibly gracious and attentive. From start to finish, we never felt rushed. We started with the meatballs, prosciutto wrapped scallops and kale & asparagus tip (the kale and asparagus was my favorite - talk about delicious!) Then we had our dinner - which was equally amazing! I had the Gulf Shrimp Pasta. The shrimp were colossal - and the flavors of the dish were just amazing! Kudos to the Chef. We sat at a lovely table that was very comfortable for four people. The pear martini is my new favorite. Definitely try it! I love this hotel for its historic beauty and charm, but the restaurant is an added bonus. Treat yourself here to a nice and relaxing evening here.
Thank you for a great experience!
Lovely waitress, very patient and accomodating with six "seniors"! Delicious lobster roll, and specialty pizzas. All beautifully presented, and we never felt "hurried". Thank you. We will be back !
Salt is a marvelous restaurant! For lunch we enjoyed the delicious clam chowder and a bountiful lobster roll - perhaps the best lobster roll I’ve had in years. The Caesar was very nice and the Scottish Salmon perfect. An extraordinary lunch at an extraordinary restaurant.
I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and it was great! Service was prompt and courteous and the food was delicious! Overall great experience—would recommend!
To start, there was a repulsive, curly black hair wrapped around my spaghetti and later on, some plastic wrap in the ice cream! The waitress took the spaghetti away (which I had waited patiently 40 minutes for), and then I was forced to choose something else to eat which I really didn't want because by then my mother had already finished her meal and I certainly didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for the original meal! Our waitress was nice, but there was an older waitress nearby who was so very loud and raucous during our entire meal (which lasted a never-ending two hours for a starter and dessert). Such a waitress was not at all suited to such a restaurant as SALT, and her unprofessional behavior helped destroy what we had hoped was going to be a memorable meal. When we got our bill, we noticed we had been overcharged for dessert. Just one more thing to ruin what was supposed to be a relaxing, pleasant meal. And when we got home, we saw that the restaurant had charged us twice for our meal! We had hoped this was to be the first of many visits to this restaurant, but this will not be happening. For such prices and portions, the rest has to be perfect. No recompence was even suggested by management. If you are running a five-star restaurant, you have to have 5-star service at all levels, which is not the case at SALT.
This was located in Plymouth, Ma new spot excellent!
I always enjoy the food at SALT, the setting is lovely, both indoors and out, and the wait staff are always friendly and professional. My only issue is the high prices that increase every year.
We have loved Salt for years and we’re a bit disappointed that the “chips” served with the fish and chips were extremely salty. The Caesar salad was mediocre but my partner’s lobster ravioli was sublime. All in all, not quite the universally outstanding experience we were used to, but the ambiance and the comfortable seats help make it a very good experience. Hopefully Marriott will keep setting the bar high.
