Loved this restaurant. Some of the best food. The rockfish is wonderful. The burrata and mushroom ravioli was amazing, albeit a small dish. The shaved vegetable salad outstanding with a simple lemon, oil dressing. Wine list was good, but they also had a cider which was very good from Woodinville, WA. Dry with a sweet kick. Went perfect with the popcorn. This is a definite repeat restaurant.
Great restaurant with a variety of food options, but a smaller menu. Good small plates. All the food we had was yummy.
The Putin is amazing, I always get that as a starter. I have tried the chicken sandwich and it was delicious, I also had the Ramen which was good but felt it was a bit salty. One of the SOMA business favorites! but also good HH and just to meetup w/ friends. Nice atmosphere.
Great service and food
Extremely slow service. Hamburger had a metal taste and the avacado was hard and had no flavor. Very loud and difficult to have a business conversation.
Great food but very noisy.
Server was EXCELLENT! Attentive, knowledgeable and personable. Food was really good and would have given 5 stars except for the $7 price tag on a meager portion of chips. Noise level was not bad considering it was a busy Friday night. We were able to have a pleasant conversation at our table without shouting to be heard.
Great food. The poutine was an amazing starter. The mushroom ramen and beef cheek stole the entrées.
*The bartender was friendly and made great cocktails
*All the service was great, from the hostess to the waiter to the bus person
*The appetizers were delicious
*Maybe I ordered the wrong entree, but it was not good at all. I never leave food on my plate, but I couldn't force myself to eat it. Beef cheeks was tasteless, chewy and full of fat. I should have sent it back, but it was a business meal and I didn't want to appear fussy.
Based on this experience, I can't recommend dining here. I would recommend cocktails and appetizers at the bar, but not dinner.
Coole San Francisco After work Ambiente happy Hour und danach gutes Essen
Had a wonderful night dining at the salt house.
We split the soup appetizer and is an entrée we have the dock and the pork chop and the duck was fantastic , perfectly cooked. The Somm was thoughtful and pick out a white and a red that went well with our meals
Had an excellent gin cocktail while waiting for friends to arrive, the Good Bird Tell Me. Our small group was then treated to amazing plate after plate by the chef through out the entire evening, ending with incredible desserts. I’ll certainly be back soon and I highly recommend Salt House if you enjoy excellent food in a pleasant atmosphere with great service.
I wouldn’t go back. The food was good, but it was difficult to enjoy because the service was so poor.
Great food. Great service. Cool space
Wonderful happy hour! Don’t think we were checked in but will definitely go again!
Last restaurant before heading back to Europe, I’ve eaten in 5 states and numerous cities this trip, and this was the best! I’ve read some reviews here and my head hurts. People know very little about goo food. Our server Dill knew very well what he was offering and how to match everything. Management came bye to check in, which is always appreciated (timing is everything). Prices are very fair considering the combinations of flavors on a single plate. Americans are too accustomed to crazy big plates that they don’t even finish (For disclosure, I’m born and raised in Chicago), then they complain when it’s “too small” even though they actually go home not feeling bloated from over-eating. This place deserved a visit from Michelin. Thank you to everyone at this amazing place for your hard work and talent. These people love what they do. Very grateful. Until next time (hopefully not very long!).
Great ambiance and really friendly service, the food was disappointing, noisy but not disturbing.
Enjoyed dinner with friends. Halibut was excellent served with greens.Quail eggs with a vibrant sauce were tasty. Potatoes in duck fat could be improved.
Don’t go here for a work lunch. It’s packed and the service is so slow!! We ordered the same for lunch and it was so different; one pasta was so dry and the other was swimming in sauce. I’ll definitely go somewhere else next time.
Service was off upstairs. When we ordered cocktails and food, I specifically asked our waitress to come back to get our order for glasses of wine to accompany our entrees. She came back just before the food was arriving, and I watched our glasses of wine sit on the bar for ten minutes while our fish got cold. The hostess even looked at the drink ticket and ran a different drink from a newer ticket, maybe she didn’t want to come upstairs or that’s just not how the work is divided, I don’t know. The food was good and the waitress was nice and knowledgeable, but both rounds of drinks and the check were very slow. My brother used to love this place until he had an almost identical experience. So the food is good, and maybe the service is fine downstairs, but sitting upstairs I think really brought the whole experience down. There are too many other fantastic options in this area, probably won’t come back anytime soon.
Salt House was a great...! The service, food, wine, and coffee were all very good!
Salt House knows fish! We were in the mood for some well prepared fish, and Salt House truly satisfied. Both the Salmon and Striped Bass dishes were imaginative and cooked to perfection. Our starters were also excellent. Service was great. S.H. deserves 5 stars.
Fantastic meal. Started with the Chicory salad with a very nice dressing. We then had the Striped Bass and Rock Fish entree’s. Both dishes were very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sides were also very, very good. We ended the meal with the black poppy seed cheese cake, OMG, it was fantastic.
Highly recommend Salt House and will be back.
The service was horrible. They sat us upstairs and then forgot we were up there.
We have been here several times and it is consistently very good. The atmosphere is both upscale and relaxed. Exposed beams, brick and soft lighting. The food is very tasty, and beautifully plated. It took a little longer then expected to get water and give our order but then everything moved along nicely. Started with a good Manhattan. We hard the chicory salad with oranges and pistachios, burrata ravioli. The only disappointment was the duck fat potatoes which were not crispy, a bit tough and too salty. The matcha cheesecake was yummy and interesting. It’s a bit pricey but in the range of nice places in SF. All in all very pleasant evening. We have always enjoyed dining here.
Friendly, attentive service. Fabulous, creative drinks and food. Very loud so conversation is difficult, but that's everywhere these days. Expensive, but not ridiculously so.
Despite a crazy noontime rush, the hostess remembered my OpenTable request to be seated at a quiet table and showed us to one that she had reserved for us in the quietest spot in this lively lunch spot. Grilled shrimp salad was delicious as well.
This is one those places that won't seat you until your whole party arrives. Even if you arrive 5 min early and want to get organized for an obvious business lunch with just 2 people. Such is life. With the many options in the area, won't be back soon. Had the salmon which was small and over cooked. Everything on the plate was swimming in oil (be warned). Shared the sweet potato chips which were good but $6 for something the size of a bag of chips didn't seem a good value.
Great service & yummy food
The meal had layers of flavor the appetizers were delicious. I think the menu could be expanded, but ambiance and service were A1.
Had a wonderful meal with a dear old friend. Loved the Burgundy week wine selection. First time here and will definitely be back.
Wine was over priced; raviolis arrived lukewarm, food came out very, very slowly.
place looked cool. food was good. limited menu, but that didn't matter because the meal was yummy!
enjoyed our dinner very much. food was very good with interesting choices.
It's really hard to rate their food - it was wonderful but incredibly over salted.
The soup had such wonder flavors that I doubted my first impression of too salty but then the entrée was definitely too salty and ....so was the dessert! I figured out that it was the "maple walnuts" that were the problem, pushed them to the side and loved the panne cotta.
I highly recommend this restaurant but warn you to insist that little or no salt be added to your order.
I've eaten here several times, but the menu selection, which used to be somewhat imaginative, and food quality have gone downhill. I struggled to find something that appealed to me at lunch (the only meal I have had here). Not much healthy; I ended up with the fried chicken sandwich. It was unoffensive but hardly pleasing. Expensive for what you get.
Great service, food variety and ambiance!
I have eaten at Salt House countless times, often with clients. It has been one of
The food was all very tasty, but took forever to get to us - multiple tables who were seated after us were served before we were, and while the staff apologized several times for the delay, it was such an incredibly long wait for our dishes I'm inclined to not go back.
