Salt House Tavern - A 75-seat, contemporary tavern housed in an old printing press warehouse built in the 1930’s. Exposed brick, original hardwood floors, 12 foot windows and oversized rusted iron girders. Contemporary American fare ranging from raw bar plateaus to local cheeses, appetizers and heartier main dishes. Wines from all over the world, local beers and an extensive cocktail list. Full menu anywhere you'll sit down - at the bar, the communal table, the front window counter or in the dining room!
I’ve been going to Salt House for several years and have never had a bad experience. The staff is very efficient and friendly and the food is scrumptious!
Salt House never fails. The food is delicious. Squash salad is a must as is the spicy popcorn; snack We were treated to a new starter tonight: lamb with gnocchi and burrata foam - fabulous. The servers completely make up for an often slow kitchen. Custom cocktails are so worth it.
Delicious meal! Always a great time here. The food is always delicious, and the service is good, but overall a great place, and would recommend as a location to try.
Our waitress was very accommodating, kind, and overall did an excellent job catering to our group!
Good food, nice ambiance. Service was quick. Good lunch spot.
The food and service were excellent. However, it was extremely loud and difficult to have a conversation.
Food was amazing, great service and really trendy ambiance. Set a good impression for clients.
Excellent food! Will be my go-to restaurant for my trips to San Francisco.
It had more of a fancy bar ambiance, and the servers were accommodating with my crutches.
We only got small plates to share; they were really yummy and a decent size. We got four plates to share and were a bit hungry afterward still.
The poutine was amazing though and didn't leave you feeling like you'd just eaten a ball of grease afterward. The Shishito peppers were also really good. I'd skip the squash soup, and the squash salad was 'ok'.
We liked every dish we ordered but one, and they replaced that dish with another one we loved. Much appreciate that action.
Bad Valentine's Day experience. We waited at least twenty minutes for appetizers, and when they did come out, the wrong dish was presented. We had to send it back, and waited another 15-20 minutes for the correct one. Then tables around us who were seated long after we arrived got their entrees, and I asked when we could expect ours. They came out about five minutes later, my entree was not cooked to the temperature I had specified. Won't be going back.
Salt House is always a sure bet for a great lunch experience .. Great food, super friendly staff , in a comfortable , albeit noisy environment .. I’ll be back ...
I don't think I can recommend Salt House for now after eating a raw cooked chicken in my fettucine pasta. I did not say anything to the server because I did not have enough time to spare and did not want my colleague to be disappointed because she brought me to you.
Food and service are good, but at times the noise levels are so high that you have trouble having a conversation because you can barely hear what the person sitting opposite of you is saying. Pity because everything else is pretty good.
Fantastic place and the bartenders and hostess are the absolute best! They made us feel like locals even though it was our first visit. I will definitely be back.
Very good service. Very attentive. Food was flavorful, inventive and well seasoned.
The food is fantastic and they have creative takes on classic dishes that always keep the menu exciting!
Food was great. Cocktails were great. All around lovely evening and dinner
I booked this place (first time) for my executive and she loved it. I have added as a regular since she liked it. Thank you
Amazing place for business. Incredible service and food
Loved the ambiance, really nice food and glad that I booked my reservation early - it got busy fast over the lunch hour. Definitely worth a repeat visit!!
Limited menu for lunch service. Our party struggled to find anything that was not either fried nor was a carb.
Reception and first greet at table was thoughtful and refreshing in a big city...they knew my name as a nobody...impressive!
Celebreated NYE there and had a great meal.
Early NYE dinner anticipating a long night. We selected 2 small plates and one large which was perfect. Fall salad was amazingly savory. Spicy salmon collar was a nice treat following up with a delicious short rib with sweet potato purée and Brussels sprouts- a very nicely composed dish
Poutine is the ultimate comfort food. Popcorn appetizer is a fabulous snack to start. Squash salad and duck pasta - delicious!!
Great lunch at Salt House! Burgers, grilled cheese, and tonkatsu were all good. Fries were outstanding! Will definitely be back!
Great food, we’ll definitely be back!
Things are different each time we visit the restaurant. Nothing ever horrible, but this go-around was excellent!
Our waiter was very courteous and responsive. But the front of house experience was lacking. Checking in was inefficient and much of the time there wasn’t someone at the front so guests just stood around waiting, and asking other guests for information. Our table wasn’t ready at our reservation time, which I understand happens, but the host didn’t apologize for the wait or inconvenience - this was a working lunch. Anyway, hope it was just a one off experience.
Excellent cuisine and especially the Striped Bass, which was beautifully prepared with crispy skin and moist fish. One of the better meals I have had recently.
Always reliable. Great food. Great service. A favorite!
Dinner with mom and family.
Poutine was excellent:)
Second time here. The server was great, cocktails were good and the food was just ok. Most of it was oddly under seasoned. I would go back. I think it may have been an off night.
The food was amazing! My only criticism is the service from our waitress, she seemed a bit snobby as if my bf and I were not up to par with this restaurant. Everyone else was very friendly and accommodating, especially the hostess!
Very crowded tho was seated promptly at my reservation time. Server made very good recommendations. The fettuccine with shrimp was excellent. Oysters were average. The short ribs were good but not great. Dessert was fair.
Food was ok not great. I had the daily special Duck breast, and it came in a big chunk that was very tough and hard to carve.
Service was functional, but the wait times in all facets was unacceptable. From seating us 20 minutes after our reservation time, to the time it took to get our drinks, and especially the time between our first and main courses, the meal took about 2 hours! For 2 courses!. Not going back anytime soon.
Service was terrible, from the bar to the food. They were short-staffed but never admitted it until we prodded. It took 90 minutes to get our apps and more than two hours for our dinner to be served. And the place wasn't even full. Food was ok at best. Can't go back
Very disappointed. Service was so slow. Fish didn't seem fresh. Took business associates in front out of town and was embarrassed.
Thoroughly enjoyed a festive dinner with out of town family.
