Best restaurant I have been to in Boulder.
Fair prices for high quality food and presentation.
The food was not well prepared. The appetizers , pears and Brussel sprouts , were though. The entrees were pretty dull and lacked any flavor. disappointing meal
Service was great, ambiance was lovely, and the food was fantastic. We went there for First Bite and everything we ordered was delicious.
Very creative menu and they tried to adapt to food sensitivities even on a price fix menu.
First Bite Boulder was an amazing value! The food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient.
Such good food. We had a flatbread, a wagyu steak and fries, a veggie cassoulet, and flourless chocolate cake. Such innovative and fresh dishes, all delicious. Excellent service- friendly, efficient, professional. Was jammed on a Friday night (reservations a must), but our food came out quickly. Never felt rushed.
I came with 2 girlfriends for lunch, we are all around 60 and were seated in the farthest back corner of the restaurant, I assume so we wouldn’t ruin the ambiance for the 25 year olds. Food was good although my friends hamburger had to be sent back so it could be cooked medium well as she had requested. The rest of our food was excellent. Although we were 3, the server predominantly spoke to me - I look a little younger than my friends - which felt like age discrimination and was irritating to us all. So if you’re of “a certain age” you want to go to this place with your younger kids so you’ll be treated like a regular person.
SALT was good, but not as great as expected. We all ordered steaks and were all disappointed. The steaks were not well seasoned and were a little tough. For tenderloins costing $35, this was underwhelming. The wine selection is excellent and our sides were very good. The dessert menu was also disappointing. None of the 3 of us found anything exciting to order, so we skipped the dessert entirely. This was our 2nd visit to SALT, but our first dinner visit. Hopefully they are better at the other dinner options and just not the steaks.
Salt is a good spot for classic Boulder farm to table cuisine. Atmosphere is upscale enough that it feels like a nice evening out, but not too formal. It's relatively kid friendly. However, the fall menu does not have great options for vegetarians. The vegetarian entree was a sort of tomato stew with chickpeas and spaghetti squash -- it lacked flavor and the spaghetti squash was underdone. For pescatarians, the salmon entree was rather routine. However, the shellfish cacciuccio was excellent.
We were meeting a friend we hadn’t seen in years and selected on Salt as it has vegetarian and vegan options. The waitress filled our drink order and provided us ample time to catch up. She recommended the special which was a filet of salmon over veggies. Our friend ordered that and loved it. We had the Power bowl and the Quinoa burger, both of which were great. The burger came with a generous side salad which was great.
The noise level wasn’t too loud. The staff was attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere. I like your new menu. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food served.
Great food as always. Nice signature cocktail list. Friendly and knowledgeable service.
Everything was fantastic! Service was great! Our food was amazing!
They couldn't get anything right - starting with informing us "you're in the cellar tonight" with a reservation (it's a Tuscan-themed basement down there - yuck) which forced us to sit outside. Staff struggled for quite a while to light heater. Mary's chicken came out cold and slightly undercooked. Pear dish was tasteless but at least they deducted from bill. No sign of server as we sat outside shivering waiting for the bill - had to go inside and track her down. Meanwhile, the same empty tables in the warm, toasty main-level area were STILL EMPTY. Hint to clueless hostess - when a family of 3 with a pre-teen comes in for dinner, odds are we won't hog your table for 2 hours - let us sit in the warmth upstairs and don't shove us in the depressing basement or stick us out in the cold!
Brunch only menu on Saturday was very limited.
Delicious with great vegetarian options! Close to Boulder Theater so we could eat and enjoy music without parking twice.
Delicious food and excellent, friendly service in an attractive space.
Food was excellent, great quality and flavor. Cool vibe and good service.
It's difficult to find a restaurant with stellar food and service that's not deafeningly loud. I value SALT for all of this.
Great food and the perfect atmosphere for a date night!
Not impressed with the food
We’ve been to Salt before this visit and we loved it. Not sure if they were having a bad night but we ordered steak. I had to send mine back. I had ordered medium and it came back well done. They were very gracious and immediately ordered a new one to be prepared for me. One of my companions also ordered a tenderloin and it wasn’t prepared properly either but they didn’t send it back. Overall I’m not sure I’ll go back. Apps were good but overall I’ve had better.
I love Salt for the quaint neighborhood vibe, the fresh offerings, and the good wines by the glass.
Service was not very good and both the burger and bbq sandwich were not good. Would not go back. Nice place but not worth it.
We wrapped up an event nearby and arrived 25 min early. We were told it was too early to be seated. We went downstairs to see if there was room at the bar to get drinks. It was filled with diners. We walked past two empty booths that we were told were reserved for the restaurant (vs being bar seating). No worries. We went down the street and spent $50 on drinks and returned for our reservation on time. We were seated in one of the same empty booths we walked past earlier. We had a good laugh. Restaurant lost money on pre-dinner drinks. Our server was smart, attentive and competent. Music was loud and somehow not the same ambience I recalled. Great crispy brussel sprouts. Pretty average burger.
Wonderful staff, excellent menu and quality.
My experience was meh. It could have been due to dining toward the end of their lunch period. However, the food did not live up to the reviews. I had the tacos of the day. The chicken meat appeared to be remnants.
Great food and service. Tables are very close together
The food is amazing and the cocktails are really unique. Amazing atmosphere and very unique flavors from the salt & bread to start to the apps, cheese/ meat boards and entrees.
Oh so yummy! Nice servers and pleasant environment. Casual but classy!
Nothing like outdoor dining on the pearl street mall and salt has some of the best food around.
It was a fun place to go. Just wasn't super impressed with the food and the waitress didn't bring us all of our items.
Had a 7pm reservation and had already run out of the dish I wanted to order
As a former server, I hesitate to write such a negative review but the service so distracted from what should have been a wonderful reunion with my son at Parents’ Weekend that I feel compelled to share. A reservation was for 3 o’clock and we were seated promptly outdoors at a cramped table for 4. We were not greeted by our server until almost 3:20. She was nervous and very unsure about the menu. I asked her if the house white was a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio And she told me she didn’t know. She did not offer to find out. She took our order and then went to several over the other tables and I noticed she could not have turned in our order as she had not gone inside. About 15 minutes later she came back with my wine and my husbands beer but not the soft drinks for our kids. Later I asked a different server and find out where our kids drinks were. Our server finally came back with their drinks and told me she had found out that my wine was a mix of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio? Finally, our meals were brought out by two different servers at different times and we did See our own server for sometime. Our burgers were cold. We ordered the second round of drinks from a different server but were eventually brought out by our server. She was having a terrible time holding four drinks on a tray. I don’t blame her, but certainly the restaurant should do something to help train the staff before their first day. Also, long dreadlocks should be tied back so as not to dangle near the food she is serving. We will not be back.
food tasted processed and no one in our party liked their meal, and downstairs seating area was dirty. overpriced. not nice. I am surprised by positive reviews
Very enjoyable special dinner with freshman son at CU while visiting on a very busy night. Didn’t wait long past reservation time, food was generally excellent but the daily special with squid ink risotto was a little disappointing.
My husband and I were in boulder visiting our son. We are excited to get to know the restaurants in town and we’re excited to try SALT. It was a disappointment. We sat at the bar, and the two bartenders were very attentive and personable. They were the best part of our meal. The meal itself was mediocre. Our NY strips were tough and over cooked. And they were not flavorful enough to make up for it. The crispy polenta side was flavorless. The roasted carrots were also lacking flavor, undercooked, and mixed with other root vegetables like turnips. The wine list was underwhelming. All in all, an expensive disappointment.
Been here countless times and is great but this is the first time where the food was average!!! Like all around average!!!
Food is excellent. Service is friendly but needs to be more attentive. Wine list could be better. Will go back for the food.
We visited Salt on a Friday evening to celebrate our anniversary. The host and server were both great. The service was speedy. One time the server got a little too speedy- asking if my husband was finished with his plate when he had only served the entree like 5 minutes earlier and the plate was clearly not even half eaten. The atmosphere was fun and pretty. Nice cocktails from the bar. The food just didn’t really wow us. I had the gnocchi Bolognese and found it goopy. My husbands tenderloin was good. Overall- just fine, nothing spectacular. Might opt for a happy hour here rather than dinner next time.
Food was great but it took a very long time once we ordered to get our order
