"Steak & Eggs" Beef Tenderloin
Served on a 250 Million Year Old Himalayan Salt Block
Beef Tenderloin and Lobster
Gnocchi / Spinach / Piquillo Pepper / Grapefruit / Baby Potato Chips
We ordered the Chef’ Adventure tasting menu dinner... it was not adventurous or imaginative. The meal was $125 per person- it was tasty but over priced compared to other menu items. We had planned for the Salt Steak and Eggs but that is no longer offered as a new chef took over 3 weeks ago.
Delightful from beginning to end. Perfect special occasion treat
Went for Mother’s Day and disappointed to find that Salt was not up to it’s standards. Disappointed that the Ritz and Salt did not have a better plan for the day and the menu. Expected more from them both.
To begin, the hostess was evidently "helping out", and didn’t know to which table we had been assigned- even with the seating chart in her hand. We were given a table in the middle of the dining room even though there was a table by the window that was never occupied during the almost 2 hours we were there. The biggest disappointment was that there is NO BATHROOM in the restaurant itself! It is down a hallway towards the lobby. I am handicapped, and my husband would have had to interrupt his meal to wheel me down to it. Fortunately, the Maitre d' Robert (the best part of the whole evening!) wheeled me to the restroom and back. I could have probably used my cane if there had been a restroom within the restaurant. Even a small 1 toilet one would have been all that was needed. I have traveled all over the world, eaten at literally hundreds of restaurants, and I have NEVER encountered a restaurant without a restroom! I even wonder if this is ADA compliant.
The plates and flatware were fine, but the wine glasses were of mediocre quality, and the decor could use some updating. Our server Jeff was very attentive, and our food came in a timely manner. We were first brought a lagniappe of a quail egg, which was interesting. Our appetizers were the prawns and the soup- both of which were just okay. My husband enjoyed his red grouper, but my pappardelle was light on the "Scallops / Shrimp / Lobster" and heavy on the "Wild Mushrooms". We each had a different souffle, and both were good if a bit on the small side. They brought us a "Happy Anniversary" tray with some small sweets and a container of Himalayan salt.
We had waited a long time (due to the pandemic) to visit Salt, and we came away a bit underwhelmed, considering its reputation and location within the Ritz.
David, our waiter, was very attentive without being overbearing. Great relaxing dining experience. Food preparation was excellent.
Anniversary dinner with my wife. Wonderful experience. Food was pricey, but delicious. Restaurant went out of their way to make our anniversary special. I received the wrong fish entree dinner, but I didn’t want to mess with the night and it turns out it was really good.
I am reluctant to criticize any restaurant right now since so many were deeply impacted by the pandemic and are just starting to get back up to speed. However, Salt has been/is regarded as one of the best restaurants in the state, so it is held to a different standard.
Unfortunately, Salt has yet to regain its form and so I almost want to recommend sophisticated diners hold off visiting it until more time has passed. Not all of its issues can be blamed on the pandemic, either. For example, the decision to take the signature ‘steak and eggs’ dish off of the menu is a severe misfire.
Is Salt still a good restaurant. Yes, mostly. But the service levels, menu offerings, and wine list are not on par with a Five Diamond experience.
I hope this assessment is proven wrong as quickly as possible.
Restaurant was pleasant. An issue with an entree was quickly resolved. Nice to try once.
It was the nicest restaurant I have ever been to and everything we ate was exceptional. The live music on Thursday evening was different and very much enjoyed. It wasn’t loud but it was a perfect background noise for a romantic evening.
What an experience beginning with the courteous valet attendant, everyone was so efficient, friendly, and professional. This will be an anniversary always remembered. Thank you .
First time to visit the Ritz and Amelia - Salt is simply outstanding!!
Stacey was an amazing server. The new chef is outstanding and his tasting menu was one of the best I’ve had.
The staff was amazing and very attentive and the food was wonderful. Our server Patty was really wonderful and helped us with a great wine selection.
Outstanding service, cuisine, and beverages! Highly recommended!
We went to Salt for our 48th wedding anniversary.
The food, ambiance and service were outstanding.
Our server, Olga was superb.
Please thank her for us!
Very nice service, great food, exceptional wine selections. Would definitely recommend.
Great meal, great service, and great atmosphere! Highly recommend!
Salt NEVER disappoints....always a place to go if you want ALL your senses engaged...we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, and apart from having to wait longer than usual for service, it was and always is an amazing culinary experience.
Best place to dine while visiting Amelia Island, even if you are not staying at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island. We enjoyed both. Pricey but worth it in every way.
We recommend the tasting it wine pairing
The perfect meal to finish our getaway
5/1/21 It was good but not quite what everybody talked about. Have eaten at several of the Ritz and this one was not overly exceptional
We had the 4 course chef’s menu with the sommelier selected wines. Food was beautiful, creative and delicious. Wine pairing was on spot for the dishes presented. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive and she brought the chef out so we could discuss a dish. Music was provided by a guitarist who came over and chatted with us. The only drawback was a noisy child several tables over but, that was the parents fault, not the restaurant.
Our party of six was seated at a beautiful ocean view table as we requested. We were aware that many restaurants are still understaffed due to the pandemic, but the service we received from Patty and the other servers was excellent. We ordered a variety of entrees, meat..fish and pasta and everyone was more than pleased with their choice. We finished off our meal with the soufflés. Everything was delicious!
We visited for a special occasion birthday dinner and their honoring of the occasion far exceeded our expectations.
We were a bit disappointed in the chef’s tasting. The food wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t as good as expected. Typically the chef’s tasting is the best option, but in this case I think we would have been better ordering off the menu. The service was excellent, though.
One of the top dining experiences I’ve ever had
We had the tasting menu and it did not dissapoint. The attention to detail, and the experience with the different salts was just amazing. The staff was very knowledgeable and incredibly pleasant. The 4 course menu topped it off with an amazing dessert.
Being rated a five diamond restaurant, it was disappointing based on our experiences. The restaurant itself was beautiful in an even better setting. The food was but good but not inspired or creative. Could find the dishes served at nearly any fine dining restaurant, for a 5 diamond restaurant I expect more in food quality and presentation, see picture of the Buffalo served. There was no imagination there. Salt is noted for their use of salt. They did not describe what salt was used, if any, to enhance each dish or what salt on our table might pair nicely with the dish. There were also several other missteps in an experience we would not expect from a 5 diamond restaurant. We had a nice meal but not as special as we expected.
We stayed at the ritz Carlton and ate at Salt to celebrate my birthday
It was wonderful
Olga, our server was attentive & terrific.
The guitarist who was playing was soo talented and that created a wonderful ambience.
I had the foie gras, and papardelle pasta which were so delectable.
Like the place we were celebrating an anniversary and they made a point of making it special.
Fantastic service from Patty. Food was exceptional. Nice view and ambience. Only recommendation is that they need to step up their wine list (or bring your own). It does not match the quality of the food.
Stellar cuisine with phenomenal service and ambience. A must when in Amelia Island!
Salt was an excellent experience. We all enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. The service was fantastic and the food as always was amazing.
Terrific. Specially prepared menus in my wife’s given name was a terrific touch.
We arrived early to a cocktail before dinner. The wait for service in the lounge for a was terrible. Grossly understaffed!
Nonetheless, we were determined not to allow that experience to deter our celebration.
Fortunately, the server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered several recommendations we took. However, the “shrimp and grits” recommendation was a bust. It included two paltry shrimp that tasty enough but certainly on the small side and a small dollop of grits.
The rest of the recommendations were solid. Of note, the pasta with seafood was very good and had plenty of shrimp and scallops.
We dined with friends and looked forward to Salt as we had heard very good things. We stopped in the bar prior to our reservation for cocktails. However it took nearly 20 minutes to get served as the bartender had diners at the bar and no other help. Once seated at our table our server was a bit robotic ... but polite. Three of us had sea bass and the other bison filet. When the food came it was very cold ... quite disappointing. We complained and the food was taken away. Only to be returned and apparently not redone but microwaved. It was not good to say the least. We were quite surprised by this experience as we dined at Coast a few times and had very good service and food.
Olga is a fabulous waitress
Amazing dinner with great friends. I ordered the sea bass and was very impressed with taste and presentation
