Sorry it is no more. One of my favorite restaurants of all time. I will miss it
Always an awesome time at Salpicon and we will really miss this place. The food, ambiance, service and people have always been outstanding. My fav restaurant in this city.
Fabulous as always. Sad to learn that the restaurant in Chicago is closing permanently. We will miss them but wish them the best in their venture in Mexico.
Excellent, as always! But I'll never dine there again.
Super sad to see this gem leave Chicago. Best wishes in Mexico!
I go out of my way to always eat here when in Chicago because the food is always outstanding. However, last Sunday's dinner was extra special as I asked about specific ingredients in a dish that was particularly amazing... and he told me that he would get me the recipe. When he brought the bill at the end of the night, he brought me the beautiful Salpicon Cookbook as well. Super nice surprise on top of a lovely evening filled with amazing flavors and gorgeous dishes!
Beyond awesome. Many thanks to James our waiter, and the whole crew at Salpicon. We will miss you!
I have been going here for years and it will probably be my last. The
menu doesn't change and I need to find a new venue for Mexican
cuisine. Also very disappointed with my wine and felt it was bad but
we drink it.

Love the place, unfortunately they are closing at the end of November.
Wonderful service, food authentic and delicious, cocktails terrific. Our reservations were early in evening - restaurant was quiet and yet we were seated directly beside a family of 4 with 2 very young children - crammed in together. We were away for the weekend as a couple - trying to enjoy the 'kidless' weekend together. C'est la vie!
Server presented us with a beautiful complementary Salpicon cookbook at end of our dining experience - nice touch. Clearly very well respected restaurant - within an 1 or so - the place was packed - with 'regulars'.
One of my all time faves. Hate to see it go at end on Nov 2016.
You will be very missed!!!
It was a very enjoyable dinner. The food was very good and delightfully presented. The service was good as well.
Enjoyed everything especially the wine and cod entree'. It is sad that Salpicon will be closing on November 30th, It will be missed. The owners apparently sold the place and are moving back to their roots in Mexico.
A spectacular restaurant! Sorry that it is closing. I do not see any replacements for Priscilla and Vince Satkoff here in Chicago.
I have had 3 (or is it 4) fantastic experiences at Salpicón, and I am so sad they are closing at the end of November. If you haven't eaten there yet, make the effort this month. It is a treasure, and its closing will be a real loss.
Dinner for four friends visiting Chicago. Service was excellent. Everyone enjoyed our meals and wine. We were surprised to receive copies of the restaurant's cookbook as we left. Very nice touch!
Lovely meal, warm service. I'll miss this restaurant.
one of the best meals my wife and I have had in chicago
Wonderful creative food. Great staff. We'll miss it.
The most original and quality Mexican-style cuisine in Chicago. And amazingly good Margharitas.
Outstanding experience. We were very well taken care of. The food and wine was amazing!
Great menu and wonderful service. Good location , easy to get to.
Delicious food. Best tiger shrimp ever. We ate outside and it was still quiet enough to have a conversation. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with drink selections.
Super flavorful unique Latin inspired cuisine . Hands down best legit real margaritas - no frills. Love this place!
This is my fourth visit to Salpicon in the past two months. Each time their fish specials have been amazing. They have an extensive tequila and wine selection. The service is always perfect, and the cuisine authentic, fresh, inventive, and flavorful.
Had an amazing margarita with special tequila, shared 5 appetizers and loved every bite! Reckoned the quest and ceviche for sure. Very good and just down the street from several comedy venues.
In addition to being the most uniques Mexican restaurant in Chicago, it has one of the most extensive wine list in Chicago
Restaurant was not very busy on Sunday which is a good thing. Service was low key and okay, and ambience was good. However, wine was extremely overpriced by at least 180% and the Chef who claims to be the owner confronted my party in a very arrogant and rude way because his waiter received a tip of $65 for serving 4 people a $ 245 meal and overpriced 2 bottles @ $320. I wish him luck but will never visit the restaurant again.
the menu is limited and offers ,it seems, only spicy dishes which we do not prefer. We would not plan to go back
A neighborhood place that can be a destination for others. I have been eating here for years and the quality has continued to be consistently high. If you like Margaritas this is the place for them. Wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Limited menu, skimpy guacamole serving, tiny wine glasses. Not worth a repeat visit
This is one of the best gourmet Mexican dining places in Chicago. Very creative menu and delicious specials. Good margaritas too. Extensive wine and tequila offerings.
Delicious dinner at Salpicon last night. Amazing culinary flavors served by just right attentive staff in an understated dining room where we could enjoy our conversation while savoring a phenomenal meal.
We have eaten at Salpicon previously, but always at the bar. We decided to go to dinner here for our 38th wedding anniversary. The food was terrific. My wife had the Cod and it was truly melt in your mouth tender. No fishy taste at all. I had the Pork Chop and it was prepared perfectly. The potato/chorizo accompaniment was very tasty. The only issue we had was with the waiter. Though, surprisingly the restaurant was pretty empty, he acted like he had a plane to catch. He rushed everything and couldn't have been less interested in serving us. Not a word was said regarding our anniversary, though I noted it on our Open Table reservation. Having used this feature with Open Table before, we have always gotten some sort of acknowledgement. A number of places will offer up a glass of champagne or a small dessert in honor of whatever event you may be celebrating. That part of this review I don't care about. Service can sometimes overcome food that might be slightly off the mark. At Salpicon, the food rocked and the service failed miserably.
Not your standard fare. No tacos or burritos but rather unique offerings deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. Extensive wine list. One of the few places I can find small production Oregon Pinot Noirs. A must stop for me anytime I'm in Chicago.
Salpicon is one of our favorites....We love the food, it is close to home and a really nice bar. The service on Saturday was not up to our usual expectations. They seemed quite rushed and hurried us along. Our first time getting that feeling. I hope we do not get it again.!!
Salpicon is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Chicago. In addition to the regular menu they always have specials to try new flavors/combinations. The tequila selection is outstanding - highly recommend trying the tequila flight; the knowledgeable servers can help narrow down your selection.
We went there curious about Mexican and were delighted. Wonderful atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff and food that brings you to a Mexican family celebration. Ask about the margaritas. They are like nothing you have had before. The grilled octopus appetizer immediately lets you know you are in for quite ride. Wish it was closer to home, but next time we in Chicago we will definitely return.
Wonderful food, but we had to get up and ask for a server to get a drink, and then had to beg to have our order taken. With only 5 tables in the place, the service should have been great.
A real discovery. Amazing food, great wine list and helpful service
