Entering the Saloon, a family owned restaurant since it opened in 1967 is a bit like stepping into Philadelphia's past. Dark oak paneling, shiny brass and authentic local antiques create a warm congenial and casual atmosphere. The choice of two comfortable dining rooms each with its own vintage bars make dining and conversation a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Both bars feature a delicious and moderately priced food menu. The menu is Italian with seafood specials such as grilled octopus and dover sole. Saloon steaks and veal chops are legendary. Many prefer a plate of fried long hot peppers to compliment the steaks. All desserts and gelatos are made on the premises daily. The Saloon is a Philadelphia neighborhood bar and restaurant with a national reputation. And the parking is FREE!

The Saloon I am happy to report has not changed post covid. It is treasure on South 7th Street, great drinks, large menu with glorious nightly specials and a staff that makes you feel like a lucky insider. On site free parking unheard of in any city. Tired of weak service and small portions this is your place. Thank you, Mr. Santore for staying the course.

Perfect evening until the busboy spilled a large glass of water on my guest, literally! Not the slightest excuse, nothing. He threw a few napkins towards the table and disappeared. The waitress “gratefully” offers A dessert on the house. A small effort for such a cock up with a guest spending the rest of the evening drenched in cold water !!

First time visitors, was on the 3nd floor and the place is loud. Had the scallops a a side of pasta with bolense, awesome stuff. Dessert was wonderful lemon tart pie, awesome, need to go back and try more. Menu is extensive

We have been coming to the Saloon for 15 years and it is special every time. It’s been a year since we’ve been and it was all the more special. The wait staff was terrific - helpful, so nice and attentive. The food selection is broad and all our dishes were delicious. And amazing desserts! The vibe is really dynamic and cool too, just a great experience all around.

We went for our anniversary. Service was top notch, very professional. Food was excellent. Absolutely loved the ambiance. It is an old world feel with tons of dark beautiful woodwork and antique decor. We wanted so many choices on the menu and the specials sounded amazing. We will just have to go back soon.

Overall pleasant experience. Food was satisfactory; service except for our main server was very good; ambiance was lively but the noise level was very high. The Saloon for me did not live up to its reputation - the pasta was ok but nothing noteworthy, and the shrimp scampi was nothing like the lemony, garlic/ infused expected, however the veal was tender with a nice light sauce
