Salito's Crab House & Prime Rib Ratings and Reviews
We were very happy to find a place on a Saturday night that wasn’t packed. Restaurant was nearly empty at 7:30. Our server said she thought it was due to the weather. It was pretty chilly inside, although they do have overhead radiant heat for each table. My crab cakes were very good. Beet salad could have used something crunchy in it. Overall, a good experience. Service was excellent!
Had a wonderful New Years Eve experience. They had a reasonable pre-set price on the menu for that evening. A plus is if you bring your own wine there is no charge for corkage fee!!! Had a table with a beautiful evening view. We stayed warm and toasty under the heater. I recommend this place for its relaxing atmosphere and the food is good. Don’t forget....no corkage fee!!!
Went to Salito's for lunch to celebrate sending my book to a publisher and take a break from writing. Great views of the harbor while we sat under heaters on the deck. The deck was actually warmer than inside. Service was friendly and timely. Loved the crabwich. Had the slaw on the side, which was great because I could add as much or as little as I wanted. Loved the vanilla panna cotta for dessert! Wonderful outing. Thank you!
Enjoyed my birthday dinner here! The setting is amazing with the waterfront view. Service was very good. My only complaint was that my Fettucine Alfredo with crab didn't have much crab in it! Otherwise, great food. Sangria, Crab cocktail and panna cotta for dessert were yummy!!!
Pleasantly surprised! I was a bit afraid that it could end up being touristy, since it was one of the few places open Christmas Day. But we had a really nice meal. Friendly staff, down to earth menu, but well executed in my opinion. Would definitely go back during The day to be able to enjoy the view!
Service on Christmas was a disappointment ....to many reservations not enough staff long waits they ran out of forks took 30 min to order and another 45 to get the food ..... place is usually a great Sausalito go to but I would never go back around the holidays. Staff was friendly and nice food was good but the waits killed it for us
Had a reservation but when we arrived we were told to get in line, they had apparently way overbooked for the evening. Not a great start to the evening. We left then came back 15 minutes later, by this time the line was less and were seated. Service was okay, food was okay at best. I won’t be returning.
Outstanding seafood and filet mignon. Four of us dined on Christmas Day for early dinner. It was packed and lined up to check in. I thought we might have to wait a very long time even though we had reservations but we were seated in 20 minutes. The servers were really working hard and managed to give great service considering how busy they were. The menu isn't very big but the food is excellent. We have eaten at a sister restaurant, The Dead Fish, so it was similar regarding the menu. The filet mignon was the so tender, the oysters fresh and everything seasoned nicely.
This review is for dinner on Christmas in 2017. We made reservations for 5:00 PM for 3. We arrived 20 minutes early to find that we had to stand in line forr 20 minutes just to "check in" for our "reserved" seating. Once we checked in, we learned the wait for seating would be over 30 minutes. Turned out the wait was 45 minutes. If you have an elderly member of your group who needs to sit, or anyone in your group that needs to sit during a wait, you will be out of luck at this place.
If you believe making a reservation will result in the restaurant seating you within 10 or so minutes of your reservation, this is not the place for you.
When we were finally seated, it was in an open-area location that had heaters -- all of which were off. That probably was why everyone who was sitting in the area was eating their dinner with coats on. Turning the heaters on would have been a kind gesture.
"Prime Rib" is in the name of the restaurant, so one would assume that they have some expertise in preparing and serving "Prime Rib." If one made this assumption they would be wrong. The "Prime Rib" was more like "sub Prime Rib". The waiter indicated that the rarest they could deliver was medium rare. The restaurant's version of medium rare was mildly pink, must mostly grey, with lots of fat and gristle. And if you like luke warm, chewy, tougyh, prime rib, they delivered.
Shall we talk about the service of our waiter. Two words: Surly and incompetent. Our waiter got our drinks order wrong, failed to deliver bread (until we were 3/4 away through our dinner) which he offered to be delivered before dinner, failed to deliver a requested replacement steak knife, and seemed like he would rather be elsewhere.
In regards to the steak knife, it was very fortuitous that a "new" steak knife was NOT delivered. The standard cutlery that was at the table turned out to be sharper than their steak knifes.
For me, this will be a definite pass in the future.
This was our first visit to this location being Salito's. We have been to it's many previous restaurants. It was Christmas Day, it was very busy, we had 4 Adults and a reservation thank goodness because there was a line out the door. We had a short wait, we went to the bar and got a drink. Once seated our Server was nice. The food was delicious: crab chowder, shrimp cocktail, seabass, crab louie salad, crab/shrimp louie salad, crab fondue and Cesar salad. The service as a bit slow and the bussers were very slow to clear things. We should have skipped the dessert, not good, Beignets (we go to NOLA annually and these aren't Beignets) and the Salted Caramel Vanilla Crunch Cake wasn't good either. I would definitely go to Salito's again and skip the dessert.
This was a favorite, until Xmas eve. Booked table for 5, no points for the reservation, either open table, or restaurant issue. Open table is in decline, removing awards from any open table restaurants, was a mistake. Yelp & other reservation companies are moving in
A great place for our family outing dinner. The service was really good, the ambiance and location were perfect. We had to change our reservation on Christmas eve from 6:30pm to 5pm and they were great at working this out and getting us all in. The food was delicious, however, the menu includes a lot of garlic rich choices and for someone like me that is allergic to garlic, this is always difficult. But the waitress and chef's were able to work with me to find a great meal garlic free.
Sat outside - was lovely but they should place heat lamps differently to help keep those seated closest to water warm. It was freezing. Food was acceptable but not great, wine fairly priced. Our servers were warm and friendly and were the difference between a three vs two star review.
It was a spur of the moment decision. We were in Sausalito for our grandchildren’s school’s winter fair and wanted to stop for dinner. We love crab so it sounded like a good choice. It was. The service was great. The clam chowder had crab in it. It was yummy. The crab cocktail was wonderful and the calamari dore was very tasty. The bread came in a cast iron pot. It was perfect. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. With fresh brewed ice tea the whole meal was great. Can’t wait to go back.
We hadn't been here for a while so decided to come on a Saturday night. It was crowded, but it's a large space so they had room. First the good: the restaurant is attractive, incorporating a large outdoor deck with the indoor space. The night we were there was spectacular, and happened to coincide with a holiday fireworks show and a parade of lighted boats on the Bay.
Unfortunately, the food didn't match the scenery. We ordered calamari and a chopped salad for apps. The calamari breading was going to be interesting, incorporating red peppers and herbs. But it was clear that they hadn't fried our calamari separately --- it was cold when it arrived. The salad was also meh, so overdressed with vinegar-based dressing we didn't finish it between 3 people.
The restaurant serves (and I believe cooks?) fish entrees on cast iron plates, which are brought directly to the table. Unfortunately, that means the food can be tongue-burningly hot -- start by picking from the top if you want to be able to taste anything later. I got the sand dabs in a lemon-butter-caper sauce, and it wasn't bad once I figured out the temperature issue. They served it with a reasonable accompaniment of fried oval potatoes and pasta, which seems an unnecessarily starchy choice over a green vegetable. My daughter did love the cheeseburger.
It's a big, high volume restaurant -- and that's cool. But if they want locals to return, they need to execute better. Our conclusion was we wouldn't rush back.
Relaxing dinner while watching boats pass by. Their appetizers are delicious (sizzling iron skillets with the garlic lemon sauce, yellowtail carpaccio) as well as the crab enchiladas. The crab fondue with spinach did not have a fondue consistency and the garlic noodles lack garlic flavor I was hoping for. The service was attentive.
