Salito's Crab House & Prime Rib Ratings and Reviews
We hadn't been here for a while so decided to come on a Saturday night. It was crowded, but it's a large space so they had room. First the good: the restaurant is attractive, incorporating a large outdoor deck with the indoor space. The night we were there was spectacular, and happened to coincide with a holiday fireworks show and a parade of lighted boats on the Bay.
Unfortunately, the food didn't match the scenery. We ordered calamari and a chopped salad for apps. The calamari breading was going to be interesting, incorporating red peppers and herbs. But it was clear that they hadn't fried our calamari separately --- it was cold when it arrived. The salad was also meh, so overdressed with vinegar-based dressing we didn't finish it between 3 people.
The restaurant serves (and I believe cooks?) fish entrees on cast iron plates, which are brought directly to the table. Unfortunately, that means the food can be tongue-burningly hot -- start by picking from the top if you want to be able to taste anything later. I got the sand dabs in a lemon-butter-caper sauce, and it wasn't bad once I figured out the temperature issue. They served it with a reasonable accompaniment of fried oval potatoes and pasta, which seems an unnecessarily starchy choice over a green vegetable. My daughter did love the cheeseburger.
It's a big, high volume restaurant -- and that's cool. But if they want locals to return, they need to execute better. Our conclusion was we wouldn't rush back.
Relaxing dinner while watching boats pass by. Their appetizers are delicious (sizzling iron skillets with the garlic lemon sauce, yellowtail carpaccio) as well as the crab enchiladas. The crab fondue with spinach did not have a fondue consistency and the garlic noodles lack garlic flavor I was hoping for. The service was attentive.
Tourist area. at that place on Tuesday night it was more of a retirement center. plastic chairs bus boys that don’t speak English were coming to the table every 15 minutes which is great if you’re not on the date and want to talk. the food was not good and no soup is cold, fish was dry don’t recommend going there at all unless you’re up for drinks at the bar
We were in Sausalito showing my out of town family around. We wanted to eat dinner around the area. I was lucky to find last minute reservations for a party of 7.
You basically pay for the view. The food was mediocre. I ordered crab enchiladas and it had lettuce in it. I should have read the menu; I made the assumption that since we are in the Bay Area any enchilada from a restaurant will be good.
Service was great. It was nice to spend time with family.
We went at night and the views are lovely looking out over the water—I am sure even lovelier in the daytime ! All three of our entrees and appetizers (salad and soup) were just “meh”. We felt the food was mediocre though our waitress was ever so cheerful and attentive !
We reserved thru Open Table. I requested a special dessert for my daughter's brithday on their form. Not only did we not get anything like that, there was no one to even say Happy Birthday the whole time we were there. Food was fine but I was disappointed! What is the point of making a special request if it is ignored??
Salito's Crab and Prime Rib is a cute, cozy and fun restaurant . A friend of mine was visiting from out of town. He loves crab, meat and the bay waters. After a day of wine tasting in Sonoma, I found the most perfect restaurant. We had dinner on the patio overlooking the bay. They provided heat lamps so we were warm. We ordered the half roasted Dungeness crab, sizzling iron skillets of crab, mussels and shrimp, and of course USDA Prime Rib! The food was delicious. The staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive. We will definitely come back and I can't wait.
The cheese platter was excellent! The grilled basa with garlic, parsley sauce, chowder and 1/2 crab was good, but nothing special. The view of the bay at night was nice and the heaters kept us warm. Service was great. With so many options in Sausalito, we will probably not eat here again.
Salito's has seen better times. The menu is more sparse than the last time I visited and prices are trending towards outrageous. Two small crab cakes as an appetizer for $17.95? Too bad because the location and view are top-notch.
Very Very Disappointing!!!!
I’m writing this mainly for the service I got.
I was basically ignored for @least 20 minutes while 2 couples who came after me were served and catered to in a timely manner
The restaurant was not busy @all/ granted I was by myself - but there were @ least 4 servers standing around when they could have @ least served me water or something
I’ve never had this happen before.
Not until I waved a to one of the servers and ask if someone...,
It was a very very uncomfortable experience
Three girlfriends enjoyed a delicious, perfectly prepared lunch, while overlooking
the beautiful water and beauty beyond. Our server made our lunch more special
with his great attitude and attention to our table. Thank you for making this a very
special and fun reunion for us!
We met with friends at Salito's for lunch. The atmosphere is casual and fun and there is a lovely view out to the water. Our waiter was amazing - he was attentive and gave great recommendations. The home made french bread is incredible!! We all enjoyed our lunch!
We ordered the HOT IRON SKILLET-ROASTED with double Mussels & Whole Crab, I request with our waiter to make sure that the mussels & crab are not overcook, since it was overcooked the last time we were dinning there. The crab turnout to be very good, but the mussels is still overcooked & we confirmed the waiter & the respond we got from him was "I am Sorry".
The Chowder soup, which my friends ate, was excellent (they said). But grilled clams and shrimps with garlic butter - simply outstanding! Great place for a casual get together! It wasn't a first time and we will definitely come back. Thank you guys for the lovely evening!
Had a delightful luncheon experience for a friend’s birthday! Thank you. Those roasted mussels make a spectacular first course I enjoy introducing friends to. The whole meal was great, and we were pleased to see the birthday beignets brought out at the end of the meal.
