Unfortunately our experience was much less than pleasant as the hostess who checked us in was incredibly rude and condescending. It is such a shame since the food was very good and our waitress was amazing.
Salinas deserves to have a better hostess.
It was my 60th birthday and the server was very congenial and attentive. The food was stellar and we met the chef! A very memorable experience
This was a gem of a find, while searching for recommended restaurants on the west side of Manhattan and had availability for an early Saturday evening dinner. Everything about the experience was superb. Nice bar area for a pre-dinner cocktails, intimate and romantic areas for dinner, well versed and knowledgeable waiter, and creative delicious food.
The only disappointment was that we ordered a bread course that was never delivered, but was not charged for it either.
Great establishment! Would highly recommend, as we will definitely return.
The food was very good, but too rich for my taste. Excellent atmosphere though and great for celebrating a birthday or other special occasion.
Our third visit; the ambience and consistent quality of food and presentation brings us back to this romantic, lovely place. We arrived slightly late due to subway issues, and the greeter was a bit frosty, but once seated (we waited about 5 additional minutes for the host) the evening rapidly improved.
Our paella was very juicy and fresh- You can ask for 2 and eat 4! Sangria was also excellent. Must go again to try the appetizers and desserts.. It was crowded with happy faces-
If you enjoy great ingredients prepared with the consideration of allowing them to shine, this is the place for you. Excellent quality food at a fair price. The special of the day was a tuna belly dish that was my favorite seafood dish of 2019. I believe you are better off ordering multiple smaller plates than an appetizer and entree.
A trendy, well-appointed bistro typical of the Chelsea vibe. The place seems more attuned towards the Instagram crowd than the Foodie scene. The food & cocktails were tasty, well presented, but grossly overpriced: $18 for most cocktails, $28 for a cheese plate that looked, and tasted, like it came from Trader Joe's??!! $28 for 1.5 oz of 24-month Iberico Jamon??!!! Come on!! It wasn't even Bellota!
The Chefs' Mission Statement was to present the patron with his/her version of Spanish staples and s/he achieved that. Keep that in mind when you're in the mood for traditional tapas. I wouldn't recommend this place for dinner (because of the price point) but would happily suggest it for a drink; perfect for date night!
Service made up for the high cost of dinner, but it doesn't lessen the pain.
We had a lovely time
My favorite neighberhood spot
Cozy, great food and good service
Creative and delicious food. Lovely ambience. Good service.
Excelente opción de comida española en NYC con muy buena correlación calidad-precio. Ambiente muy íntimo y bien cuidado.
Como crítica, solo el precio de los vinos un poco elevado.
Loved the environment and the food. Great for date night.
Wonderful meal. Excellent food and service. Great ambience.
Excellent dining experience but a bit on the expensive side. Spanish food is generally not as expensive.
The restaurant was quaint and very welcoming. We were out on our Anniversary and I must say, it was well worth it all around. The service was amazing, the food was tasty, and the ambiance was great. While it is pricey, it was well worth it all around.
We have dined at Salinas in the past, and went out of our way to return for the garden seating. Unfortunately, it was booked for a private party - something that was not made known to us at the time of the reservation booking. If we had known, we might not have booked the reservation - but we were so glad we did, as the food was perfection and staff made us very comfortable at a quiet table in the front room. They bent over backwards to provide personalized care for each and every table, which became a problem at one point while we were waiting for the server to deliver the drinks he helped us order to pair specifically with our meals. He was so busy giving individualized attention to all the other tables in the room, he never got around to bringing our drinks with our meals. We were nearly done with our meals by the time he realized the error, and delivered the drinks on the house. Overall the service was outstanding and the food was something special you won't get anywhere else. I will be back time and time again for that popcorn crusted octopus and the duck rice! Even if I can't get a seat in the back outdoor space, it's worth it.
Excelente servicio. Dayana fue nuestra mesera, se encargó de recomendarnos el vino y la comida.
This was my second visit to Salinas, this time I was accompanied by my parents and girlfriend. Again, I was not disappointed. Their level of customer service is unmatched and food quality is superb. I will most definitely keep coming back to Salinas. I truly enjoy the authenticity of their food, the flavors always bring me back to my time living in Spain. I never thought I could find in NYC a Spanish restaurant that truly exhibits the Spanish cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very nice staff. Good food, and a lovely atmosphere.
Unfortunately, we didn't have the best experience at Salinas. We had a 6 pm dinner reservation and they served us outside in the patio- very beautiful. However, no one came to take our order until 20-25 minutes after sitting down. We ordered 3 small plates as appetizers but by the time we wanted to put our entree orders in, it was 7 pm and we had a show at 8 pm that we needed to go to. Instead, we decided to close out our check and head uptown to get to our show. Very slow service and no one came to check on us while we were eating our small plates to ask how they were or if we wanted to put in additional entree order. I very rarely give restaurants poor reviews but it was a disappointing experience considering all the positive reviews we had seen going into dinner at Salinas.
We love this place
Absolutely wonderful, creative food served beautifully. Prices are high (especially the wine list). Great highly original take on Spanish cuisine that we and our guests all loved.
Excellent food and ambiance
Food was well prepared, service attentive and smooth, ambiance pleasant enough. One problem: Table was too small for size of serving plates. “Getting at” the food was a bit awkward and messy.
Great atmosphere but food was just ok.
Perfect for date night. We loved the food! And the decor was beautiful.
Ambience in the bar area was very romantic and intimate. I loved all of the fresh flowers and the dimly lit lighting. It really set the mood. I grabbed a drink at the bar with my girlfriend while we waited for our table to be ready. I was surprised that they seated us closer to the front of the restaurant. I would have preferred the main dining room since it seemed more cozy and was a little bit more livelier. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, the tables at the front of the restaurant would be perfect for you.
For food, this is what we ordered:
SALINAS BREAD SERVICE
ANCHOAS JARDINERA (anchovies on toast)
PULPO CON PALOMITAS (popcorn-crusted octopus) *Our favorite dish!*
PADRONES Y FRAMBUESA (shishito peppers)
Chef’s daily fish selection (I think it was branzino?)
Side of bravas (crispy potatoes with a spicy sauce) *SO crispy and addicting*
Food was outstanding and so was the service. I would come back.
I highly recommend this very special spot!
Food, service, and atmosphere were nothing short than spectacular. Only (minor) comment would be to offer more wines by the glass. Otherwise, great for a romantic evening out.
Great food. Great service.
The restaurant is beautiful, but the food, while interesting, is not great and is completely overpriced. You pay for the ambiance.
Great creative Spanish food.
A truly wonderful experience. The restaurant always delights and the food is inventive without being over the top. Highly recommend for a great date night experience.
Excellent food. Service was a little slow but overall great experience
Staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Food is delicious and the ambience is lovely:)
Would recommend to friends and family gathering
Salinas has great food, great ambiance and great service.
We had excellent service. Food quality and ebullience were great.
Overall lovely place. Food is very uneven -- some really good, some really meh. Some really outrageously overpriced, such as the braised lamb with bechamel -- an $18 appetizer that consisted of 1 spoonful of bland shredded meat sitting at bottom of a martini glass topped with a layer of sauce. The popcorn crusted octopus was great, however, but sat lonely on a bare plate, without any garnish or ecoutrements. The smoked sardines are 2 tiny filets about half the size of a pinky finger, sitting atop large pieces of very hard (and hard to eat) stale-tasting bread. The tomato salad, was ample and luscious, however. The cocktails are a very light pour. The waitstaff are not paying attention and it was frustrating to get simple things, like a cocktail order, salt and pepper, a clean plate, etc. I would try it again and give them another chance. The room was really nice, especially on a summer evening when they open the roof.
Romantic ambiance with great food!
