Opened on June 8th of 2010, Salinas specializes in both traditional and inventive tapas as well as regional main course dishes. The manager Amanda tried to cancel my reservation after my dinner so I wouldn't be able to leave a review, but unfortunately for her I will anyway. I booked a table on May 2nd for a dinner on the 20th. I called requesting a garden table for a dinner with my boss. I was told that there was availability and they should be able to accommodate. On the day of the reservation, I called to confirm that the garden table was available. I explained the occasion and that I had made the reservation weeks earlier. I am moving out of town and this was me taking my boss out to thank her for facilitating my move. Amanda said they couldn't guarantee anything. I made it clear that I had booked Salinas on the basis of being able to have a table in the garden area - otherwise would have found an alternative venue. I then arrived early to the restaurant to make another plea for a garden table. Amanda showed me two tables - one in the garden (someone was finishing their meal) and one by the window. I said we could wait and see what my boss preferred when she arrived. Fast forward to about 15 minutes later, and Amanda has rescinded the table offer in the garden because 'someone else booked it last minute' and proceeded to offer us two other tables. Managers should not be exercising personal preferences and using their influence in this unprofessional manner. There was no desire to be helpful or accommodative, and in fact quite the opposite. There is NO WAY a professional establishment would prioritize a 'last minute' booking over my request from 2.5 weeks earlier. She clearly at that stage just didn't want to give me the table and I have no idea why - I have never met her before and frankly had heard great things about this place from my sister. Amanda ruined my experience. And the food was fine but not exceptional - so between both elements, rest assured I'd never want to go back.

The octopus and steak are awesome. The steak surface is fried very deep but delicious. The eggplant is delicious. The environment is also beautiful and romantic. Service is absolutely a big surprise. They even gave us two champagnes for our anniversary!

We went for our anniversary and really wanted what we had ordered previously, but the menu changed and is a bit more limited. BUT the food, the service, and the ambiance was perfect!!! Regardless of the change in menu we were still very very happy with our decision!

I selected this restaurant to have an early dinner with my wife, daughter and roommate who both attend college in NYC. The restaurant was a perfect choice, the food and service was great. My wife and I have no restrictions on diet but my daughter considers herself a pescatarian, her friend a vegetarian. The menu catered to all diets and I definitely would recommend it.

Our second visit to Salinas was as enjoyable as our first. The paellas are special...unlike any others I've ever seen. The creative menu brings out the best of the ingredients, with options for gluten-free dining. Service was impeccable. We sat in the back room, which provided a lovely, quiet atmosphere for enjoying the very special meal.

The food was exquisite. However the chef was inflexible and there is no reason why substitution if one veg for another should be a surcharge when the prices are already extremely high. Wine list is grossly overpriced

I am a huge fan of Salinas but this was a very disappointing meal. Items were either too salty or extremely bland. Even the familiar fabulous cocktails had the same problem—either over iced and bland or too sweet. What happened to my favorite restaurant?

First of all, the food was excellent and full of exquisite flavor. The staff really made you feel special and were attentive to all your needs and were more than happy to assist you. Salinas itself is pretty on the inside with multiple rooms with a different vibe in each. Highly recommend for a nice date night or any special occasion.

Great food and incredibly attentive service ---we just had 4 starters ( 2 of the 3 nightly specials) since it was an early dinner before seeing a play but they were all delicious and very interesting. Would definitely go back for a full dinner A bit pricey and wish I had been told the price of my glass of wine ($22!)

More on the smaller side of restaurant size, but that does not detract from how nice the interior is. The garden room where we sat was really nice, and even though it was quite full it did not feel cramped or overly loud with people talking. The wait staff was very friendly and one of the hosts was very helpful describing the specials and made great food and drink recommendations. Drinks were well made, the food was great and paced appropriately. We didn't feel like we had to wait for any extensive duration for service. We were checked up on enough without feeling like we were being bothered. Overall awesome experience.

We first had dinner at the restaurant about 8 years ago and although we don't reside in New York City full time we always have Salinas as one of our go to restaurants and have been back for dinner several times since the first time. Love the vibe!

Excellent drinks and tasty food. Service was so-so at best. Took a long time to get a drink served, but food came out very quickly (too quickly). The main servers were below average in their attentiveness, but the food distributors and water-attendants very attentive. Would probably try something different next time.

Bartender made terrible drinks while we waited 20 minutes for our table. When we were seated, after 15 more minutes, we had to ask the host several times if they could send over a server for us. When the waitress arrived, she saw the full drinks on the table and “knew that the bad bartender must have made them”...apparently they have a bad bartender and don’t do anything about it? Unfortunate that the paella needs 45 minutes advanced ordering and we couldn’t do that until about 40 minutes after our reservation. More unfortunate that it wasn’t any good. Sympathetically, our waitress told us “I would’ve compt the drinks but you already paid” to which we replied “we actually tried to carry the bill over to our table, but were not allowed”. The waitress awkwardly replied “oh right it’s Friday”. When we ordered tapas to split, we tried paying extra for a 3rd scallop (there were 3 of us and we found out the serving was for 2). The normal thing would be to upcharge and give a 3rd, given the circumstances we expected the 3rd to be free of charge. Neither happened - we were told it could not be done because it would create a 4th unused serving. At the end of the meal, when we said we did not want dessert and just the check, they brought over some sympathy sorbet. Wow...the efforts they went through to make us feel welcome! Overpriced even if it was good. Definitely never returning.
