Sale e Pepe - Marco Beach Ocean Resort Ratings and Reviews
Was not impressed with the food at all. It was a fixed price menu with only two choices for each course. The portions were very small. It was more like a sampler menu or tapas, not a real meal. For the fixed price of $135 I expected something much better . Especially due to their reputation. The restaurant adds in the tip of 18% for our party of two. I understand for large groups but that’s like saying to your customer “we don’t trust you” We would not go back. For fine dining we’ll go to The Blue Heron instead
We went to Sale e Pepe for Valentines Day dinner. This was our first experience at this restaurant. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation, but we were told that no one is seated prior to the reservation time, even though our table was empty and ready. The menu was prix fixed, 4 courses for $135/person...not including drinks. The food was just Ok, but our service was outstanding. Gratuity was automatically added to the bill at 18%, but our waiter told us that this gratuity did not include his tip!!
This is a one time only restaurant. ...too many excellent restaurants in Marco Island that do not exploit the customers.
Everything from top to bottom is top notch. From the moment you walk in, you are treated as you would expect. We ate in the dinning area adjacent to the outside area. If the temp allows, I’d suggest outside (and that is casual) to watch the sunset. Make sure you specify casual or formal, where pants (no jeans) and shoes are to be worn. bon appetite!!
Sale e Pepe is one of our favorite restaurants in the Naples/Marco area. The food, elegant ambiance, ocean views, and service are impeccable. Our server, Federico, was so attentive, knowledgeable, and personable that he elevated our experience even further. A must for a truly outstanding, five star dining experience.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. From those two stand points, worth every penny. However being from the northern Midwest, we were seeking a fine-dining experience with both the ocean and sunset. We saved our splurge dining experience for these things while here. But when we were seated in a rear interior table without view of the outside, we were simply told, “there is a wedding”. In addition to this, earlier the morning of the day of the reservation made through OpenTable reservation we received an intimidating phone call confirming the reservation, and warnings about dress code, which were NOT followed by others (and I was concerned about whether or not I should buy an outfit, or whether or not we should eat there). If you are looking for fantastic food, wonderfully presented, an excellent wine list, outstanding service, this is your place. But if you want is those things plus the ocean side experience as well, be sure to ask if there is a wedding, or phone in a reservation and ask for this information and/or be sure you specify that this is your hope. While not at all disappointed by our meal or the service, we could have had the same experience when it was five below zero outside back where we live.
A most beautiful view and ambiance in the outdoor dining area. The service was impeccable except for a little slow on bar service, but, the drinks were delicious when they arrived. No one in our party of four thought the the food was as good as we were anticipating although we did enjoy it.
Beautiful restaurant , lovely ambiance, fabulous service and excellent menu and wine
Our head waiter, Stan, was exceptional with his total understanding of the menu and provided great service along with his kindness to take our sunset photos
Sommelier was very helpful choosing the perfect wine to compliment both our different entrees
Food from appetizer to dessert delightful
Enjoyed it so much we have already made our dinner reservations for next week
Highly recommend for anyone that enjoys dining versus grabbing a bite
We had out of town guests so I chose this restaurant as a place to watch the Naples sunset. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. It was too cold to sit outside and too cloudy but this is no fault of the restaurant. However, when we arrived I was told my reservation had been cancelled. I showed the hostess my confirmation email and she kind of acted like she didn’t have a table for us but she’d look so she tried to put us in the noisy bar area. There are two other rooms of seating, both were empty. She finally accommodated us and gave us a nice table in a much quieter part of the restaurant. From there the meal went well. Our waitress was very capable and attentive and was able to answer questions about the menu and provide advice. The four of us all had a different meal and each one was beautifully presented and delicious albeit VERY expensive for modest portions. The desserts were also beautiful, delicious and somewhat pricey. This is not an everyday place to eat for the average tourist but it’s worth the drive to Marco, great sunset viewing if there is one and a delicious meal. You may want to confirm your reservation however.
This was not our first visit. We love the sunsets on the beach and have taken several of our out of town family and other guests to Sale de Pepe. It is expensive compared to other restaurants in the area especially for the quality of food. However, they don't have a view of the sunsets.
The last time we were there, one of the meals (my husband) was the size of an appetizer, pasta dish for $32. He should have sent it back but didn't thinking he just ordered to wrong thing. This time we took friends from out of town. My meal was very good as I always have the salmon. However, our friend's dinner, chicken, was terrible. He didn't want to complain and kept quiet as to not ruin our dinner but when his wife finally tasted it, she confirmed that it was terrible, breaded flat chicken with no sauce which made it dry.
We did tell the server about it who sent over a manager. She apologized but left the meal of $38 on the bill. We decided after taking many out of town guests to this place, not to return as this was embarrassing to us as he was hosting us for the meal.
