GREAT dinner! My husband and I had been meaning to go to Salare for a long time and our first visit was so good. The staff was perfectly attentive and sitting at the counter seats was so entertaining. The food was creative and amazing. We can't wait to return.
I would like to comment on a very disappointing dinner which our family (party of 4)experienced at Salare on Sunday evening.
To begin the restaurant at 5:30 was very cold but the AC was turned off at our request.
Our orders of beef tartare and octopus to be followed by the chicory salads were served in an untimely order. the tartare was overly salted nod the salads overly dressed. The pasta which followed was also overly dressed.
Unfortunately what was to be a special occasion dinner turned out to be an expensive outing which should have been something special. We have dined here on other occasions and we're looking forward to another great meal. Too bad! We won't be quick to return . I hope that they can o better than this.
A number of delicious small- to medium-sized plates to work with to construct your own personal feast. What fun! And top quality, whether it's octopus, duck or sunchoke. $$$$
This is a great restaurant with a neighborhood feel. Much of the ambiance is due to owner/chef's warm personality and deep passion for what he does. Menu changes encourage multiple visits. On the noisy side, maybe the result of happy diners!
The food was fantastic, but the service was a real disappointment. The kitchen seemed to shut down for 40-45 minutes and we received no news or updates from our server in this time. 40-45 minutes between courses is not a great experience in an uncrowded restaurant.
The rockfish dish had many flavorful accompaniments that allowed every bite to be unique. Deliciious!
Really exceptional service, beautiful and tasty food, great wine list, and not too pricey. Truly among the best in town.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was wonderful at brunch. A few items were already out by noon but our selections were tasty and great. We loved the portions but I can see they may be considered small for a lot of people.
Delightful. Delicious. Table for nine? No problem!
Interesting diverse foods great service pleasant atmosphere
Salare is a great restaurant and should be on every ones list. The food was so good we returned the next day for brunch! If you are in the city of Seattle, do not miss this restaurant.
Our waiter, Andrew was great. The menu was exactly what we wanted. We'll be back again.
Wonderful experience. We agreed one of the best dining experience we’ve had in Seattle. Thank you
I have been to Salare several times and have enjoyed it much more than I did this last time. I found the food to be more lackluster than it used to be. I enjoyed the appetizers but much less so the main dishes. Also, the waiting was good but I wish it could be a warmer place.
The food was so very disappointing in quality, flavor and quantity. The burrata was so over salted. The Duck was gamey, tough and literally only 3 bite sized pieces of breast. The duck leg was so dry it was inedible. Service was just ok. For all the amazing reviews and supposed James Beard nominations it was sad and barely even mediocre food.
Great meal, from appetizers to our 3 way split of a Cote de boeuf (think: best possible bone-in ribeye. From the tiny gougeres to start, to tasty and beautiful appetizers—-heart, tongue, and more.... Outstanding and interesting set of choices: beef sources, cuts, sizes and cost are all on chalkboards, and choices are narrowed as orders are made..! Wonderful ambience, not overly formal, but fundamentally elegant, a pleasure to spend time there.
Fantastic meal with clients. Dinner was delicious. Try all 3 of the bourbon drinks. Will definitely be back.
I went a little late for my Sunday brunch so they were out of the French toast I really wanted to try out.
The food was a little different from the usual brunch places. but I really liked it.
Astoundingly delicious. Fine dining brunch yet casual setting and impeccable service. Same price as other brunch spots. My new fave!
I was somewhat disappointed in my experience at Salare last Friday. For one thing, I made a reservation weeks in advance because I had a friend coming to town and wanted her to try the cheesy biscuits. However, when we arrived they didn't have a table available for our reservation! They ended up seating us at the chefs' counter which fortunately was all right with my friend.
However, the chefs didn't interact with us at all - they do this in other Seattle restaurants and, in my opinion, that is what makes the experience of sitting at the chefs' counter worthwhile.
Additionally, the waitress got a little sassy when my friend asked for parmesan cheese for her pasta, which I didn't feel was an unreasonable request.
Finally, my friend and I were pretty much there solely to get the cheesy biscuits, but they had been removed from the menu.
Definitely not a great experience, and between that and the price I certainly won't be recommending Salare to my friends or bringing in out-of-town guests like I used to anymore.
Went to Salare for my birthday dinner. My oh my. Was blown away at the quality of the food and the uniqueness of the items on the menu and the desert was absolutely fabulous. It is my new favorite restaurant in Seattle.
We checked their wine list online and brought a wine not on their list. When we got there, we found a different list and the wine we brought was on it. We explained this to the excellent waiter, but he told us it was no problem. Before it could be opened, another person appeared to tell us we couldn’t use it ( of course we expected to pay the $25 corkage). When I said we’d checked the list on line her response was “ you should have called in to check”
I’m not in the restaurant business, but it seems to me that once a customer has been given a yes, countering later with a no is abysmal customer service. Perhaps the waiter was misinformed, but he was excellent and embarrassed. As for food, appetizers were mediocre, lamb entrees excellent. Disappointing. The first few minutes colored the rest of our evening.
Food was amazing. Andrew, our waiter, was knowledgeable and attentive.
The best kept secret, hardest workers, most humble refined food.
It was very good food but portions were very small and selection included lamb and duck and cel I think and I don’t eat any of those!
Charming space, delicious food and drinks. Loved the bookshelves- felt like dining in a friend’s kitchen! Really good selection of small bites to start, followed by appropriate-sized entrees with unique seasonal ingredients. Service didn’t feel rushed- but wasn’t memorable either. We will return with friends!
With five of us we got to taste a wide array of bites, main entree and desserts; Amazingly fresh food and fantastic flavors!
We had a spectacular meal. The dishes were stunning to look at and the flavors were wonderful. And! Edouardo was in the kitchen!
I continue to be amazed at the combinations and inspiration used to create their dishes. It is always such a wonderful surprise to see what is coming out of the kitchen. We had the octopus hash, the black code bowl and a couple of other great entree's. We also tried the blueberry croissant that was wonderful as a start. The only thing I would love to see is espresso. There coffee is great but a good latte or cappuccino would have been a wonderful addition. Look forward to another experience at Salare! Thank you!!
We were a little disappointed this time at Salare. Some of the small plates were bland and we felt that the menu was trying to hard to be "different". I've been to Salare at least 6 times and this was the first time that we left feeling meh! Hope they go back to tasty.
We love June Baby, this restaurant’s sister, so we were looking forward to our meal here. Totally uninspired. The drinks at the bar, and the bartender, were as enjoyable as June Baby, but the rest of the meal did not seem to come from from the same chef. The duck breast was so tough, I could scarcely cut it with both knife and fork. The burrata salad was boring and did nothing to enhance such a delicious cheese. My husband’s agnolotti was skimpy and flavorless. The best elements of the evening were the drinks and the wine selections. And the einkorn under the duck. We spent close to $500 for this!
True fine dining in a casual modern place. Fab food by experts.
The food at Salare is always terrific, creative use of ingredients without becoming a food parody. But the noise level was over the top, and sound attenuating panels are such an easy fix. And the place was frigid, a/c on so full that the dining room curtains were swirling in the wind, like a blizzard.
We arrived almost an hour early but were able to be seated right away. A pleasant surprise! The hostess, waiter, servers and bartender were all very pleasant and professional.
The was no doubt the best meal out we’ve had in a long time. We chose to eat family style so that we could sample as much as possible and truly everything we ordered was unique and delicious.
Hands down favorites were the duck entree and the smoked mussels starter. One of a kind meal that I can definitely recommend to my foodie friends!
And very reasonably priced.
Also have to give a shout out to the cocktails. Again one of a kind and delicious!
Our first time visiting the restaurant- definitely not our last! The flavors were unexpected and delightful, the wine list was good and fairly priced, and sharing five courses - olives, garden, pasta, main, and dessert - was perfect for us as a couple “of a certain age”. :)
The food was perfectly prepared and the service was very helpful with our selections. The blend of ingredients and flavors on all the plates was excellent.
They seemed to be short on wait staff as our bartender was also our waiter and he was too busy.
My husband and I sat at the chef’s counter for 3 hours and LOVED every minute of it. Food was delicious, and our server was great—always there right when we needed something.
Our experience for brunch lived up to its reputation and then some. The service staff was so friendly and helpful in answering our questions, and our meal was next level - creative and flavorful, and each dish incorporated a range of textures so each bite was interesting.
