We definitely recommend this restaurant. Food was excellent and our server Erol and the rest of the team were incredibly attentive.
My only issue was the mix up with the to go bag, but we’re all human. Everything was outstanding, and I would definitely go back.
This was my 2nd time dining here. I made the reservation for a fancy date night. The service was excellent as usual. Food amazing, and well worth the price. I love how the wait staff is so tentative to your needs for the night. I plan on returning in the summertime.
The wagyu special is amazing. Worth the money. This is the second time I have gotten it, I was not disappointed. I'll be back for it again!
Although Salacia is touted as being a premiere restaurant, I felt that it was extremely expensive for the small portions of food that you receive. I certainly have had better meals elsewhere. Our wait staff was superb (Thanks Errol!) but this doesn't make up for the lack of value or the average taste of the food.
Wonderful experience overall! We chose the 3 course tasting menu that was offered for restaurant week, fabulous food for a great price!
My husband and i had a date night there. Definitely worth every penny! The staff was amazing.
Went with some friends for restaurant week...there were some hits and missed.
• Beautifully decorated dining room
• Very cozy and romantic ambiance
• Huge wine selection
• Presentation of food was artful
• Service from our waiter was lacking (very condescending and abrupt during our order process when asking for recommendations)
• Portion sizes are very small for the amount of money you pay. We all went home and ate a second dinner because we were still hungry.
• Two of our entrees barely had any meat. We ordered the braised lamb and gnocchi and we found two tiny strands of lamb. The waiter said there was 4oz in each order. We showed him there was nothing and he went to the kitchen and brought us more so he somewhat redeemed himself from the earlier rudeness.
Overall the food was way overpriced for what you get. Probably won’t return.
We had dinner here for my Birthday. The service was excellent, and the waiter was very attentive. Excellent quiet dinner. Very Romantic place to go. The food was excellent. If you go make sure you have the lettuce wedge salad with ranch dressing.
This was an awesome place and perfect for an Anniversary dinner which is why we went. The food was incredible. We will be going back!!!!!
It is always a great experience when we dine at Salacia! The food is delicious, the ambiance is great, and Erol always takes great care of you & makes every visit there special!
The experience was amazing. The server and management did a great job and contributed to the evening. We really enjoyed our meal which consisted of a stone crab appetizer and a steak for two. All tables were full and the atmosphere was still quiet and romantic. Highly recommmend.
Great fine dining experience!! Highly recommended for a classy night out.
Salacia's is an amazing dining experience. The oysters were exquisite, I actually almost cried. My husband and I had awesome service, very personal, very bright spirited, and I always enjoy a good joke. We will definitely be back for the four course meals and what should be a 5 star restaurant.
We visited the restaurant for our first time on Valentine's night. We throughly enjoyed the meal and the service. The food was exceptional and the staff very courteous, professional and friendly. The only slightly negative thing was there was a series tables for 2 on one side of the restaurant, which were quite close together. So, we felt like we were enjoying the dinner with those around us. Everything else made up for the closeness of the tables. Excellent choice! We will return.
Nice quiet room, but it lacked character. It felt like a private back room, not a special occasion restaurant. Not much charm in the room.
This is my 3rd or 4th time eating at Salacia. My server was completely attentive, friendly and professional. That and the view was the best part of the experience. The meal was a bit lack-luster. As a starter, I thought the lobster bisque was delicious. However, for my entree, I ordered the filet rare and they served it on a piping hot stainless steel plate. This heat of the plate continued to cook the steak to the point where it was medium by the time I was half-way finished. It lacked seasoning, although the blue cheese sauce elevated it for sure. The creamed spinach was mostly cream and not so much spinach, which was too rich- even for me. I keep giving this restaurant a chance because it's so convenient while staying at the Hilton. It's got an appealing atmosphere and killer view. And the service is always superb. But the food always disappoints. I wish the chef could take it to the next level.
THE top steakhouse in Hampton Roads. Food consistently excellent, with top notch professional service. Our favorite place for a special date night, anniversary or celebration. Expensive but worth it.
Perfect for a romantic night out with ur spouse. Excellent service, quality of food, and delicious fresh seafood. Intimate dining experience only 13 tables. Highly recommend. My husband and I will return when visiting VA beach again next time.
This is a wonderful resturant for any special occasion. Great ambiance, service is on the mark, waiters were friendly yet professional. We celebrated a birthday and fun was had by all. The food is well worth the price. Wine menu is to die for! If I lived closer I would dine there more often.
the ambiance was great, food was superb, and the service was outstanding. Very knowledgeable waiter.
Great Experience in every regard. Erol, our waiter, was fantastic!
The ambiance is great in this restaurant. It is actually a very small restaurant with about 10 tables. The food was extremely overpriced and the quality was below average. This is a ocean side restaurant and they can’t cook fish as well as the other local lower priced restaurants. You want to take someone to this restaurant to impress them but they find out that the food is of poor quality and they are disappointed as are you. The service was great but it didn’t make up for the high price and low quality.
Disappointed. Overpriced with average food.
Wow. Where do I begin? When we arrived for our 8PM reservation, we were told by the hostess that our table was being cleaned off and we would be seated in 10-15 minutes. At 8:30, I went to find a hostess to figure out why we had not been seated yet. They forgot about us. We could have sat there the entire night and nobody would have seated us.
Adam, the General Manager, was very apologetic and seated us in the adjoining restaurant. He gave us two appetizers and we waited to go back to our preferred table and original reservation.
We finally were seated in Salacia at 9PM. We had a great meal. The servers were impeccable.
When it was time go, I was told that my filet mignon and sides (leftovers) would be upfront at the hostess stand. I asked the hostess, coincidentally, the one that forgot us, how she knew which bag was ours. "We write it on there." What was written on the bag was "26," which I guess corresponds to the table we were at.
Shockingly (read: not shocking at all) we opened our boxes at home and low and behold, it wasn't our food. I called back during Salacia's business hours to speak to someone about this, and nobody was available to take my call. I left a voicemail requesting a call back, but I haven't gotten one.
TL; DR version:
We waited too long, and paid $150 for food that we didn't get to finish eating later. French press coffee and cheese bread = amazeballs.
This has become our favorite place to dine in Virginia Beach. We first found this gem over Christmas break 2 years ago and booked Christmas dinner for 2017. It was one of the best dinners we have ever had. The food, staff, ambiance....EVERYTHING was splendid.
Service was bad. They were trying to rush us since the moment we got there . Very rude. Wasn’t a pleasant experience at all.
It’s become a tradition. I’ve brought my wife to Salacia for her birthday for the last four years. We live in DC and come to VB to be with family for the holidays and Salacia is a perfect getaway from the Christmas madness. See you next year!
We love dining at Salacia for what is one of the premiere experiences in Virginia.
Service was amazing!
The wait staff were friendly and attentive to detail but fairly slow. The food was excellent and our steaks were cooked as ordered. We were there on a Sunday night. It wasn’t crowded. Perhaps they were short staffed.
My husband and I were greeted with friendly, accommodating staff, loved the ambiance and seating. Great place, we will return when we visit Virginia Beach again!!
The food and atmosphere was great. The service was impeccable. Worth the cost
The food at this restaurant is of the highest quality. We sat outside, November 9, with a great view of the ocean with fresh air and no disturbing noise. A very pleasant evening.
The only negative was an over priced filet Oscar.
Had reservation, but had to wait 15-20 minutes to get a table which was frustrating as I had made special arrangements as it was our Anniversary. Nobody even acknowledged the fact that it was our Anniversary even though I made that very plain at time of reservation & an in-person visit to the manager to ensure all went well. Was not what I expected from a 4 star dining experience.
Service was ok, it seemed like our waiter had too many tables. We didn’t order our main course meal until 2 hours after we got there. We didn’t finish eating until 12:30. We didn’t think we were going to be there that long. Mind you once we got our food we eat it immediately, we were starving. I will dine there again.
My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Salacia. Overall, it was great, and was very quiet when we first arrived. Tables are fairly close together, and it became a bit loud as the dining room began to fill up.
Food was fantastic and service was just awesome. Waiter was probably one of the best waiters I ever had . Steak was better then I had a Ruth Chris
It was disappointing. I finally got my entree two hours after my reservation time. I ordered crab cakes with a lobster tail. The tail was so salty that I couldn’t eat it. My waiter sent it back to the kitchen. He brought another one that was exactly the same. Extremely salty. I couldn’t eat it. The crab cakes were not good. Too much flour or breadcrumbs. The oysters at the beginning were very good as was the rose wine and the bread. That’s what I mostly had for dinner. My waiter was nice and diligent but not much he could do.
