Sakura Mandarin Ratings and Reviews
Sakura Mandarin is one of our favorite restaurants. The menu is mainly Chinese but there is also sushi which satisfies our family members who prefer sushi to Chinese food. The soup buns are exceptional. The ambience is lovely and the service excellent. It is easy to bring a large group and very good value.
Me and my boyfriend came here after the flower show! We had the scallion pancakes, vegetable dumplings, spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll and pork fried rice! It was all super delicious as always! Everyone here has always been friendly and welcoming to us! Thanks for having the best Asian food ever!!! We will definitely be back❤
The crabmeat/pork soup dumplings had a very tasty broth but it was the filling that was outstanding. The Shanghai Street Noodles were delicious with just right amount of heat. The service was friendly and very accommodating. We will return to this Chinatown restaurant in Philly during our next visit.
Food was pretty good and fast service once we were seated. We ordered soup dumplings, edamame, crispy salty duck, drunken noodles, beef noodle soup, and sautéed beef and string beans. The restaurant is BYOB, so I will definitely be bringing it next time. We also ordered a strawberry and mango bubble tea which was delightful.
Have been wanting to try Sakura for a bit now. Finally when I saw they were on Open Table we decided it was time to go. Made an Open Table reservation, received our confirmation email and all went smooth until we got there and nobody there had a clue what Open Table was and how I even made a reservation, since they never heard of it.
Well besides that the good was good and the pricing was good as well. Biggest issue though was I really dislike when they rush you thru and it was a Tues and not even that crowded. We were served our appetizer and before we started on it her comes out soup. Less than a few spoonfuls later comes out food. So now we have to eat all three at the same time so nothing gets cold. Would have give more stars if not for this. Advise is to only order one item at a time unless you like all courses brought out at almost the same time
Must order: scallion pancakes (extra crispy at Sakura Mandarin!). Plenty of options from vegetarian to meat-eating to super spicy.
Gluten-free eater's best option is the sushi; we didn't ask what the sauces were made from, though there are plenty of rice/rice-noodle dishes available.
I've been there a few times over the years and never leave disappointed. I found the staff to be very nice and accommodating - I will say that it wasn't terribly crowded when we went at 5pm on a Saturday, but I've also been there on a Friday night during dinner rush when the place is absolutely packed, and that's when service can start to get a little spotty (and understandably so). The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. With the exception of the soup dumplings, everything came out very quickly - they are worth the wait, though. The menu is incredibly diverse, with something for everyone. I'm sure I'll be back again!
We went to restaurant on New Year's Day. the service was very poor in that the waitress paid little attention to our table of four and the other staff ignored us by avoiding eye contact with us every time they passed by. The soup was brought out at all different times for our party rather than together. Food had little flavor although we did ask for low spice contents. I would not return as there are many other better choices in Chinatown.
A very sparsely decorated restaurant with neon lighting but great food. The have a huge many and almost too many choices, but everything we ordered tasted great and authentic. The Wontons had a great texture, General Tso's was the best I've had, and the angry dragon sushi roll was delicious. Service was OK, not bad, but not outstanding. The food is so good, I will be back.
This is one of our favorite places in Philly for many years. Very tasty food (particularly XLB- Soup dumplings), nice service, clean and cozy ambiance, and a great value for what you get. Much better then any place in Chinatown Philly. Whatever we'd order we never got disappointed. Don't miss it if in Philly.
