Something weird going on with the orders that day. Whiskey sour was just watery and badly made. And the pineapple raita was dollops of yogurt put on top of pineapple chunks. Ambiance was so so with an extremely noisy village of folks at the table next to ours.
Really enjoyable except for the noise level. Hard to carry on a conversation. I hope that the owners/manager call in someone who can offer solutions for dampening the sound. Too many hard surfaces.
The food taste was very mild and not upto the mark from what I have had here couple years back. Not worth the money.
It was very busy/crowded for lunch on Valentine's day, so it was a good thing we made Open Table reservations! The stressed hostess tried to sit us way in the back near the restrooms -
which you can definitely smell - yuck, so we requested the very next table available in the front section of the restaurant which only took 2 minutes. Buffet had a good assortment, constantly refreshed, tasty, There were many chicken dishes, only one lamb dish, and plenty of veggie dishes to choose from. Even though extremely busy, we had good cheerful service at the table.
Horrible, Horrible drinks They should fire the bartender !
Unfortunately this restaurant looks great and is massive in size, however the quality of the Indian food for me is just average. I have had much better at lower cost.
Excellent choice for pre-theater dinner. Attentive service. Everything was very flavorful and delicious.
I love this place. I love the lunch buffets so you can eat as much of anything that you want and try everything. One side is vegetarian and the other side is meat and it's all very very good..
Food quality went down. May be they have new chef. No taste at all.
Even though options are less, quality of food is good. I like the ambience very much. Food is not much spicy unlike other Indian restaurants.
Wonderful drinks, and the waiter brought out a little extra something when the food was taking a while to get ready.
Good food and variety of choices. Noise level is high, space is little congested.
Predictable each time. Which is good. Sakoon is one of the few Indian restaurants in the Bay Area that offer a decent dine in experience.
The menu has great variety, and the preparations while simple, taste good - guess that's what matters most. The service is attentive, and food arrives reasonably quick.
Tried the chicken, the lamb, and breads, and all were done well.
I got us off to a bad start, asking for a table (as oposed to sitting at the bar). The food was tasty and table service was fine. Vegetarians will be stymied by extensive use of ghee (butter) and paneer ("cheese") in otherwise vegetable dishes. But omnivores will find lots on offer.
We are a regular at Sakoon but won't be returning. The service was outright rude. Food took an hour to come out. We arrived a little late which we let them know well in advance. When we reached the restaurant, the lady at the front literally asked us to eat and leave quickly because they had a lot of reservations that night.
Have been going here for several years!! Never disappoints, always a great meal with lots of options. Fantastic for a quick lunch meal that is delicious. Great for bringing vegetarian colleagues without feeling guilty!!!
Birthday for 9 year old
Disappointed in the customer service. Food was good.
Went for a birthday dinner. Food was great and service was good. Don’t like the hallway seating but it was also convenient away from the high traffic seating area. Veggie biryani was my favorite while both Kofta and malai panner we’re both very tasty. Highly recommended for both team lunch( have done in the past) or casual events with friends and family.
Food is great but it is pretty pricey for what it is. Also, they use a lot of salt so make sure to drink plenty of water
Large selection of authentic Indian meat and meatless food offerings. Nice desert selection. The Naan is very nice and flavorful. Nice ambiance.
I would recommend you make a reservation as this place gets really busy during the lunch buffet.
Good. However, we requested a high chair and were not given one, instead we were given a booth with booster seat, it did not help with our 10 month old.
Great ambience and great food.Bit pricey but it was worthy.
The service leaves a lot to be desired! The food was okay. Being in the Bay Area, there are way better options for much lesser cost!
Seekh kabab was a little on the dry side. In the past when I've eaten here, it was usually perfect. Gosht (lamb/goat) Malabar was quite good as was Tarka Dal. Tandoori Roti was a little over-done & became quite hard. Would have been nice with a little dab of ghee on each Roti.
Manager seems to be working much harder and picking up slack from waiters. Waiters did not write down your order. Wonder what happens if they get it wrong.
Excellent food & service.
Would recommend to all who are looking for QUALITY food.
A horrific dining experience awaits you at Sakoon. The waiters DO NOT approach tables with waiting customers. We had to wave one down after a long wait and even then the gaggle of waiters just balked and looked at each other.
Let me repeat that. We had to wave at a gaggle of waiters to come help us but they all balked and looked at each other as if there was no one there to help. Finally, someone volunteered to greet us and get us water after 10 minutes.
Be prepared to hear "I'm not your waiter" from the ENTIRE waitstaff and hosts as they walk by. We had to wave people down for water. For drinks. And to place our order. We also had to BEG for our food to be brought to our table. "We just have a large party we're serving right now."
Horrible service and experience.
Nothing special and we didn't like the food so we will not be back
The food was good, would definitely try the achari seekh kebab again. However, the house chicken curry (murg sakoon) was not as flavorful. Good ambiance and service. During the meal, the staff and hostess got very antsy about our time to finish and wanted to hurry us along - this happened during rush hour at the restaurant around 8 pm on a Sunday, and they had patrons who specifically wanted our table. While I don't blame them for inquiring, we would have appreciated a little more tact.
Couldn’t sit properly at the table. Pole in the way. Food was terrible.
One of te best Indian restaurants in the Bay area. Sakoon always has delicious food. The tandoori chicken was excellent in flavor and texture. The Aloo Gobi has lots of perfectly cooked cauliflower. The Sunday buffet also had a chat station with superb condiments. The desert station had 4 different deserts including scrumptious Gulab Jamon. The waiters bring fresh nan to the table. There is absolutely nothing left to be desired. We loved it!
There was a fire in the kitchen which made the hole experience bad. Hwoever, we finally got our food with some adjustments and it was free of charge. We will return when they have fixed the gas.
One of my favorite places in Mountain view. Great diverse menu.
Date Night - and Diwali celebrations!
I reserved a table for 17 people using open table one week in advance. When we went there the manager gave us three different tables and put us in a booth instead of giving us one table. WHen I asked him he told me I am at least giving you a table. By giving us a table he was not doing us any favor, we had booked the table one week in advance. If he could not give us one table for all the 17 people he could have called me and let me know. I would have managed the booking at some other restaurant. Even he knew that at 12 PM it is impossible to get a table for 17 on castro, so just to trap us and mint money from us he behaved in this way.
Great choice of Indian food! Go early like 11:40am to avoid Buffet lines.
The restaurant was quite busy and the service was on the slower side! The wait times between courses was too much for our comfort. We had to ask for attention a couple of times to get our order through. The person taking our order made us comfortable, however could have been around more.
Lamb Biryani was very disappointing. Meet was dry and tough. Seemed over cooked.
Wonderful buffet selection at lunch hour that allows for sampling a wide range of North Indian cuisine.
Good food.. Yummy desserts.
You'll save time if you book your table well in advance
