Japanese
Sake no Hana bar and restaurant is housed on the first floor of a modernist Grade II listed building in the heart of St James, offering modern Japanese dining. The a la carte menu provides a variety of hot and cold appetisers, charcoal grill, Toban and Kamameshi dishes, while sushi and sashimi are prepared to order at the 13 seat sushi bar. A carefully selected list of sakes, Japanese whiskeys and other wines, spirits and liqueurs complement the dishes offered in the restaurant. Sake no Hana’s interiors were designed my esteemed architect Kengo Kuma and the bar includes a beautiful futuristic chandelier, offering the perfect space for post work cocktails.

First things first: the restaurant is stunningly beautiful with an intricate design using wooden panels for the ceiling and partitions.
Feeling a little lazy we tried the Kaiseki set menu: the Wagyu beef was delicious, and the sashimis were also great. Unfortunately we found the other dishes slightly let us down as they lacked in savour, balance or were not that interesting. If I was going back I would probably handpick dishes rather than go for a tasting menu.
Despite a crowded team and attentive waiters, service was slow and had us wait more than 20-30 mn between the first and second dishes... annoying when you are reminded that you have to let go your table at a set time when you arrive.
All in all not a bad experience, and an amazing setting, but if you are a foodie there are definitely some better options in London for these prices.

Great service - particularly from the sommelier. The Sat 7 course menu is great - I would just have liked a bit more sashimi with this

Top quality food, and I'd even say good value, considering the standard. We couldn't decide which dish was the best one. If I had to choose, maybe the Black Cod rice shaded it for me.

A friend and I got a deal here for January which was amazing value and really good food - Really nice prosecco too. No need to buy a load of extras, and a nice, quirky meal! Only downsides are that the tables are quite closely packed in next to each other, and the waiting staff walk round with empty trays very keen to pounce on you and remove food - we had to tell them no, we aren't finished, at least twice! But you cant knock the attentiveness!!

We came here for our Date night.

Upon arrival we were really impressed with the decor and service.

we ordered the tasting menu and cocktails.

The food was exquisite but length of time between the courses was quite a long time.

We waited 1 hr 45 minutes from our final savoury course till our pudding, which when we asked how long they said they never put the order in to the kitchen.

This was obviously quite disappointing as until we had this wait the meal was 10/10.

Having to wait so long left us feeling annoyed and wanting to leave

The foods incredible but the wait was not.

Great restaurant with attractive ambiance and super cousine.
We had the lunch menu which is affortable but if you want to have some of their flagship dishes you should go a la cart. Be prepared to pay around £90 per person with drinks.
For the set lunch menu we only paid £35 per person without wine.

I booked this place having seen a number of reviews saying the food was good quality and value and had nice decor. Sadly on entering we found the size of the table was more appropriate for a mexican canteen, being squashed next to other couples with little space for even the waiters to take orders, not very good considering the relaxed ambience you’d expect from a modern Japanese restaurant. On a positive note, all the staff from the reception to the floor were knowledgeable, polite and friendly. I’d hoped the food would be able to improve things, but on ordering the sirloin I found it to be small, lukewarm, and of a quality I could cook better at home. The only saving grace was that it had at least been cut into portions you can eat with chopsticks. I hope this was just an off night as there is a lot of potential in this place.

We had a lovely birthday dinner here on New year's Eve, selected as they were allowing a la carte dining in the early evening. This is not a 'treat' restaurant for sure, both in cost and atmosphere. The food was excellently prepared, and the cocktails we had were delicious too.

There are very good deals on which would have made this much more affordable, but the price was worth it for the date. The food was all excellent and we all left very happy!

Service was attentive and they were flexible with the menu, but at times there were long delays between courses, meaning we were rushed a little at the end as they needed the table back.

The one thing I dislike about this restaurant is the layout, with only one toilet in easy reach of the dining room, (I'm told there are more toilets in the basement but we were not directed to those when we asked) and the one way exit which wasn't indicated to us meaning we had to walk through the dining room twice to exit!

A delightful restaurant whose "Saturday Sushi" menu is excellent value -- 7 courses (not just sushi) plus a cocktail and half bottle of champagne per person for £51. We added the blackened cod as an extra, but there was plenty of delicious food anyway and the drink was more than adequate. Our son had non-alcoholic cocktails instead of the champagne.

Were it not for my having talked with Marco at the restaurant beforehand, i would have been very frustrated with the very poor service at the start of our meal. I don't expect to have to complain in front of my guest when i am struggling to get a drink for her/place our order - i felt ignored. In fairness things did improve, but frankly for its location and price point their initial delivery of service let down an otherwise excellent venue
