Sakana Sushi Ratings and Reviews
Waited for water as they were out of clean glasses. Then when 3 of us ordered wine we got 2 wine glasses and one small juice-like glass as, again, they were all dirty. Not even busy and tons of people working. Apparently no one can wash a glass! Was never replaced either. My wine was refilled in the same small glass. Then they forgot our added sushi roll order. Poor service for being over staffed!!!
My partner and I each had a salad and then ordered three rolls. The only problem with the food was that it was all so good we probably over ate. We both stated that the rolls had layers and depths of flavor, so delicious. Our server was busy with other tables but did an excellent job with the service. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and the boulevard and foot traffic was entertaining.
We had two rolls in addition to nigiri and sashimi. The rolls (spicy girl, spicy tuna) were unique in that the inner ingredients in the seaweed were blended together to make a delicious filing. Top of the line plate presentation and very high quality sashimi and fish overall. Our server carried a sm ik le and was very helpful in deciding on dinner choices. Located across from the water, the outdoor seating give a decent view of lake minnetonka.
The serving staff is very friendly with regulars. We are not regulars so when our server was not taking sake shots with the couple at the sushi counter he would wait on us and that was after I told my husband that it would be nice to order so our server could hear us.
We came for Valentine's Day. Dan was our server. He is amazing. Not only is he knowledgeable about the food and drinks, he is outgoing yet professional. We asked questions about the sake, he brought out samples (tasty), roses (awesome), and fried ice cream to boot (delicious!). He was engaged, funny, and truly made our experience top-notch. We have been to Sakana many times but this was our best visit yet. Thank you, Dan, for making it a memorable night!
Side note -- the tables were very close to each other (i could touch elbows with the girl at the next table), so it wasn't very intimate or private. Next time I would ask for a booth.
Everything took much longer than it would at a great restaurant, though our server was otherwise nice. The bar is nothing to brag about, though they do have some Japanese whiskies. Our gyoza appetizer came out barely warm, and I wish we would have complained. My main dish, the three greens with chicken, was quite good. My boyfriend loved his sushi rolls. Good place if you've got some folks who like sushi but others who are more comfortable with basic Thai or Chinese instead.
The sushi was great! We shared a Spicy Girl roll. The entree was even better - Asian Chilean Sea Bass. Andrew took great care of us. We were able to park on the street in front of the restaurant - there is no parking. We finished the evening at a coffee shop down the street. We'll be back. There were a lot of great looking options of the menu.
Sakana Sushi is a must! The Menu's offer a great variety of sushi and other menu items for those who prefer to order something else like the Chef's special: Seabass | Beef | or Shrimp entree's. The food was fresh and full of Flavour.
To avoid disappoints I highly recommended making dinner reservations as Sakana is a happening place.
The customer service was timely and friendly! Nice selections of wines!
I am from Canada and the next time I go to Wayzata, Sakana will definitely be on my go to list.
Food was amazing as always. Service has never been great here-we continue to visit for the great sushi, but service was really bad this visit. Waitress was inattentive. Had to ask multiple times for multiple things-things she should have already noticed missing. Like napkins, chopsticks, soy sauce, soy sauce dishes; basics of sushi dining. Never got water refills or was asked if we wanted drink refills. There are lots of employees present-but standing around looking at their phones. As restaurant became more crowed the noise level made it hard to converse.
Food was great but service was slow. Our server was very nice but she had a larger table and co workers didn't seem to jump in and help. While she was busy, many more employees seemed to be standing around.
We used to come here for the great value but I feel like their prices have increased to a level that is the same as all the other sushi restaurants in the area so prices are no longer a draw.
Sakana Sushi, has great service and some of Minnesota's best sushi and sashimi.
Place was not packed and unlike some of the places at its standards, you will get in without reservations.
One of my top favorite sushi places in minnesota.
We Highly recommend!
Loved the food, loved the atmosphere and experience, Would love to come back again....
We love Sakana and have eaten here literally dozens of times, but the chef preparing today's sushi lunch combo simply wasn't up to par. Not as fresh as usual and the texture of the rice was not great.
This was out of the ordinary and we will be back to try again.
Would like to see another, less dry white wine to pair with sushi.
