We enjoyed some very good sushi at Sakana.
The place is a little small but the tables were not stuffed in the space. Reservations recommended.
We ordered 3 different sushi rolls to share between the two of us. The were all very good. They averaged around 6 to 8 pieces per roll.
Great sushi selection which was made quickly. We also enjoyed a drink from the bar. The bar had a good variety. You could anything from beer, wine, sake, to Martinis.
Our favorite roll on this night was the caption crunch.
This is a great place with excellent food.
Sushi is always fresh! Service is always attentive and very polite! Pricing is very fair for the quality.
Always enjoy the rolls and curry soup. High quality and fresh. Service with a smile.
Waited 90 minutes for 6 sushi rolls - they definitely did not know how to handle a crowd. I won’t go again on a busy night. The sushi was good.
Literally so overbooked we could not even eat there.
We went here for Valentine's dinner. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and fresh.
It was a bit chaotic being Valentine's Day, our server appeared calm and attentive.
They seemed to be way overbooked or hadn't managed reservations on OT very well, but the host handled it professionally.
Could I suggest having a bartender who also acts as the cashier for take-out orders, allowing the host to focus on hosting.
It was busy, so service took a little bit of time. Other than that it was great
It took 1.5 hours to get a table even though we had a reservation.
Always a great meal at Sakana!
We enjoyed another great sushi meal at Sakana. As usual, we ordered different rolls (including the Vikings special that night) and they were all delicious. The sake and Sapporo beer complimented the food well. Had a great booth and enjoyed good conversation and food. Love the menu and the service was great also.
The food and service was excellent, and I loved the atmosphere!
The two hot entrees came 20 minutes before the 4 sushi orders. Made it difficult for group to eat at same time . Waiter was nice but should have realized sushi makers were behind.
This is, hands-down, the best sushi in town!
The server was very attentive. The sushi was very good and beautifully prepared.
We continued our Christmas Night tradition of dining out with family after a long stretch of home cooking and being cabin bound with out of town guests. Sakana in Wayzata is a great venue for summer dining on the patio, right across the street from the lake so an evening walk is nice after dinner, watching the crowds (and Wayzata is busy!). Wintertime is great as well if you can get a window seat and watch traffic and trains go by. Very welcoming staff, good service, excellent food with a wide variety of entrees. Sushi is excellent and very artfully done.
Food was too salty for my taste. Price was moderate to high however, the quality of sushi compare to other restaurants in the area was mediocre. I had a high expectation going in as the reviews from opentable was fairly high (4.6).
Celebrating friends Birthday! Great lunch menu and drink specials! Friendly staff!
Great food and location but the large crowd of guests was not handled in the best of ways
The food was great. Wine was reasonably priced. Service was the worst ever. We eventually requested another server who finally took our order. This was after at least a twenty minute wait to be acknowledged. They weren't even busy.
Hands down the BEST sushi in Wayzata. I'd recommend to any other lovers of GREAT sushi. Delicious!
One of our favorite places to eat. Could be a bit quieter
Always incredible service and food! Love sitting outside looking out at Lake Minnetonka.
Outstanding food...best sushi/sashimi we have had in the Twin Cities. Service staff was very attentive but not bothering. Definitely a great place.
Waited for water as they were out of clean glasses. Then when 3 of us ordered wine we got 2 wine glasses and one small juice-like glass as, again, they were all dirty. Not even busy and tons of people working. Apparently no one can wash a glass! Was never replaced either. My wine was refilled in the same small glass. Then they forgot our added sushi roll order. Poor service for being over staffed!!!
Excellent food and service. Nice atmosphere and wine list as well!
Surprisingly good sushi. I only say that as restaurants tend to come and go in Wayzata. Good drinks menu and don't forget to check out the hidden roll menu..lots of amazing combinations. If you love sushi, I highly recommend for the freshness and variety.
Sakana is our family go-to night out for a variety of ages -- including a 1-year old who can't get enough fried tofu! The younger kids love the appetizers, their elders love the "secret" menu rolls! Nice outdoor dining space, too, when the weather allows.
As another reviewer noted, the reception desk did not have my open table reservation. But they were able to seat my party anyway. Good food & service.
Always a family favorite with kids!
The open table app wasn't working for them. They didn't have our reservation down. We had to wait but not very long. They were very apologetic and good service.
My partner and I each had a salad and then ordered three rolls. The only problem with the food was that it was all so good we probably over ate. We both stated that the rolls had layers and depths of flavor, so delicious. Our server was busy with other tables but did an excellent job with the service. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and the boulevard and foot traffic was entertaining.
The sushi is excellent--so flavorful. They had King Salmon as one of the daily specials.... never had that before but will be looking for it from now on... outstanding!
Love this restaurant! Great sushi! Our family is always remembered and so well taken care as soon as we walk in. Our 8 year old has peanut allergy and they always remember.
This stuff is crave-worthy. Best sushi in the West Metro!
Not impressed with the quality of sushi. Sadly two out of four of us that dined felt sick after lunch. Very ordinary and fake crab is not cool. Would not return. Location is great though.
We had two rolls in addition to nigiri and sashimi. The rolls (spicy girl, spicy tuna) were unique in that the inner ingredients in the seaweed were blended together to make a delicious filing. Top of the line plate presentation and very high quality sashimi and fish overall. Our server carried a sm ik le and was very helpful in deciding on dinner choices. Located across from the water, the outdoor seating give a decent view of lake minnetonka.
Sushi served at it's finest, very cold and very fresh. I recommend the blue fin & yellow fin sashimi and a spyder roll along with some 12yo MacAllen.
