Had a friend in town who loves sushi so we went out to our ‘go to’ option.
I am fortunate to have them in my city. I would travel miles. Great sushi, creative and fresh.
We love the food and service at Sakana in downtown Wayzata! Excellent customer service and the best sushi in this area by far!
My food was completely cold. I had the shrimp tempura dinner. This is the second time and the second dining experience. I was offered to have it re-done, but the rest of our party already was eating. Nothing was taken off our bill.
Excellent sushi, especially the specialty rolls. Very personable staff and owner who made us feel welcome.
We were not able to get a seat for 30 minutes after our reservation. We ended up leaving gas there was no place for all of the people waiting to stand.
Excellent food and service!
We also love Sakana the sushi is wonderful as always! This is one of our favorite spots to go!!
Excellent sashimi style maguro (tuna).
Food was fine but... kinda bland. The specialty rolls seemed so small and insubstantial. We were still hungry when we left. Our bill was 90. There were only 3 of us dining, and two were teenagers who only drank water. I just has one glass of wine. I wish portions were larger (like neighboring sushi restaurants) and the lighting were better... somehow it needs to be warmed
Up without so kind stark overhead lighting...
Delicious meal, nice wine selection and they created a lovely confection for my son’s birthday.
The service and dinner were excellent. The booth was a little tight but that was my only issue. The Calamari was excellent. We had sushi rolls, tempura shrimp, and scallops for dinner. Everyone loved their dinner.
My favorite part of the menu are the appetizers—so yummy and creative !!
We had a group of 8 there on Christmas Day, including two children. The service and food were excellent! Everyone enjoyed the gyoza, edamame, sashimi, rolls, and mochi. We’ve added this to our list of restaurants to visit regularly when we’re in the area.
Best sushi I've had since I moved to Minnesota a year ago from California.
Best sushi in Wayzata
Food is always excellent. this is a favorite spot. Sushi and shrimp dishes are amazing!
Best sushi in the twin cities by far!
We love the lunch specials during the week. Miso soup, nigiri, a spicy tuna roll and a glass of wine combine for the perfect lunch at Sakana. Or, the sashimi combo, or...
Sakana is a family favorite. Our kids love the sweet and sour chicken which is served with the sauce on the side. My husband and I love the sushi, but have also explored and loved multiple entrees. The vegetables in the entrees are always fresh and cooked perfectly. Also, the service is awesome.
This is my new favorite sushi restaurant. I ended up there, because our favorite place was closed. This was just the best! The coconut curry soup is outstanding. While we didn't have the best service I have had--it was very quiet in there, and I am guessing that threw our server off her game a bit--I highly recommend that you visit.
Food tastes a lot different from usual, dumplings were way too spicy and fried rice was undercooked.
Always fantastic. We come back often. Amazing selection and quality.
Sakana is always our go to for sushi, and have never been disappointed!! Keep up the great work!!
Food was good, portions seemed a little smaller than normal, and considering the restaurant was close to empty, I was surprised the food took much longer than usual.
Seating outside was nice. A little pricey for what you get but I’m that’s Wayzata for you.
Sakana Sushi always hits the mark. We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed sitting outside on the patio.
Best sushi in Minneapolis
Sat on patio. Service (Alvin) was great. We ate sushi and some hot dishes. All were delicious. A little on the spendier side but you’re in Wayzata. We will be back (often).
Great food, minimal atmosphere, excellent service.
Service was excellent. Prompt, very pleasant and great customer service. Food and drinks did not disappoint. Always very consistent. Our go to for sushi.
Amazing sushi rolls! Decent service with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good value for the deliciousness of the sushi!
Love Sakana!!! It is my go-to in Wayzata. Generous wine pours from a great list of options, attentive service and yummy sushi. Thanks, Sakana!
Great time. Sat outside.
I was hoping to order the miso cod but it is no longer on the menu. I ordered the felt green salad with avocado and the avocado was not ripe. Other than that everything was wonderful. It took awhile to get service but once we did she was great.
My husband and I had dinner at Sakana for the first time on a date night. It was a beautiful evening and we were able to eat outside. The sushi was very fresh and not ‘over dressed’ with sauce which allowed you to take the freshness of the fish. We had sashimi in addition to two rolls. Both were very good. We will definitely be back.
The wait staff was awesome. We came here twice this week (1st time here) and Jake was outstanding. He recommended several appetizers and rolls and we were very happy. We told him what type of ingredients we liked in rolls and then he came up with two: March Madness and the Surf and Turf. We had food allergies and he was able to help steer us. Second time we had Arelia (sp?) and was just an helpful. We had a “hangry tired 6year old) and she quickly got her food. Just an amazing restaurant and the food.... best we’ve had in a long time. Definitely coming back and our new sushi place!!
Food is great and so is ambiance. Employees are very nice. Made a reservation and asked for the patio but was informed upon arrival that reservations are not good for the patio. Waited 45 minutes. Our entire party was there and waiting to be seated. An open table was given to a couple waiting for two others simply because they had arrived first. Thought that could have been handled better. However, will definitely return. It is a lovely place!
Everything was great except it was really cold from the air conditioning!
Our favorite sushi restaurant. The food is always consistent and very good.
