Saju Bistro is a dependable pre-theater choice, and our "go-to" restaurant in the theater district or when visiting Bryant Park. The menu is varied, and all the choices excellent.
On our last visit, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the service was superb, and the food as good as we have come to expect. The salad special, described as a "winter salad," was the best salad I have ever had! Chopped up tomatoes and vegetables were energized by -pomegranate seeds, pistachios, and wonderful, creamy, fresh goat cheese. My gnocchi was excellent, and my wife really liked her French onion soup and goat cheese tartlets. I recommend this restaurant very highly!

Had dinner here twice and enjoyed both meals. This time went for brunch. Varied selection including a brunch menu as well alcarte. Eggs Benedict were perfect.

Always far above average for pre-theater, with attentive wait staff who get you to the curtain on time. Also top notch any time you want French-style dining without the pomposity.

Enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant as well as the food. On my most recent visit there, I enjoyed the pork tenderloin. I recommend it highly.

Went twice on a recent visit to NY. Food both times good, although we considered the portions to be very large. Service however, can be rather offhand, with preference to giving poor tables near the door or bar area, even with a reservation, without a fuss, which spoiled our second evening. Some menu items a bit odd with their choice of accompaniment. Well located, but with a little more effort would deserve a better rating.

We had a 7:30PM show which was told to the waiter. Did NOT get dinner till 7:05. Very upsetting! Rushed food down in 10 min, no time for dessert.

We found Saju Bistro on line when we were looking for a reasonably priced French restaurant pre-theatre. It more than met our requirements. The onion soup was terrific, the rabbit, octopus and steak tartare were well prepared and tasty. The pricing was reasonable. Unfortunately the waitress was a little too busy and had to be reminded to bring some items, but we will certainly return.

Service was very slow. Had to ask for coffee and water multiple times to different waiters. My friend's omelette was filled w the wrong ingredients entirely and as a result we didn't pay for it. My eggs Benedict was tasty but the haphazard service was regrettable.

Have been coming here for years and years whenever we have theatre in the area and it has always been consistent. So enjoy the endive salad and the moules frites. And always enjoy the extras of the assorted olives, the crisp crackers and the little madeleines at the end. How nice that they continue this pleasant treat. And also like the several choices for a glass of rose.

A bistro, but not any bistro. We’ve been coming here for years. The food continues to be scrumptious. The ambience is lovely complete with beautiful paintings and posters. They have pre-theater down to a science. One cannot go wrong here and most likely will do right here. Bon appetite!

Totally acceptable restaurant in midtown. Nothing leapt out as groundbreaking but there was nothing to complain about either. Its menu is pretty extensive, making it a good choice for a group that has a lot of different tastes and palates. Prices were reasonable. Lot of people there for pre-theater dinner, I assumed.

I will be back when looking for a good solid meal.

Saju was surprisingly good!
I live in New York and Times Square area is not a go-to place for me or my family when it comes to dining. But after a show at Town Hall this was hands down our first choice to dine. Mind you this was our first time and it was pretty late for dinner but we were all satisfied with our meals and the wine selection too! Our server was wonderful and i will definitely be back just to check out what they have to offer for Brunch :)
I am bringing my out of town guests to this restaurant from now on....

DIscovered this French Mediterranean restaurant while searching for a restaurant near theatre district. Definitely authentic. Meal was fantastic. We shared a lamb shank which was prepared nicely. Will return as often as we can. Was a pleasure. The wait staff was excellent.

Pre-theatre dinner. We had just gotten tickets to see the Book of Mormon and decided to go to a spot nearby that could accommodate a fast but decent dinner. Saju Bistro did not disappoint. The salmon was perfect and we were in and out in less than an hour. The pate was not good, I wouldn’t recommend. Ambiance was romantic and quaint. Overall good choice for the area.

We dined at Saju after a matinee. This was my favorite restaurant of my week-long dining in NYC. At first we thought the service was going to be snooty but the host and owner were over the top friendly, accommodating and proved they care about their customers. They asked if they could open the window by our table which turned out to be the entire wall to the street. What a treat. The weather was amazing and it sealed the experience. All the food we ate was wonderful. The goat cheese tart was the best thing I had all week. We also had parpadelle with beef cheeks - extremely aromatic and delicious. And the goat cheese ravioli in light pesto sauce was perfect.

All the food was well prepared BUT the pasta with grilled eggplant and olives was missing eggplant...there wasn’t any in the dish. A latte was ordered but a cappuccino was brought. All the dishes were very good. My husband really missed having eggplant.

would not recommend. Not bad food per se, but not a bistrot. had a french onion soup, and never in my life had it with tomato sauce, as they added.
Also ordered a nicoise salad. Seems like a regular leaf salad, a some potatoes on the bottom and a bit of fruit.
