The menu is limited. The salad desert and drinks were good, but the Sunday fried chicken special was overwhelmingly salty. Hopefully, that was inadvertent. We will not be back.
Arrived early but had no problems with bringing my reservation forward. Excellent service, tried the
We hadn’t dined here in quite a while, and the food/drinks are better than ever. The homemade ingredients mix up a for a great cocktail, and the food was excellent. Smart and friendly staff are practicing safe procedures, much appreciated.
It was great! It’s nice to go out to dinner again. My dates chicken entree was taster than my seafood entree(might have been better with the bread but I can’t do gluten) Both were delicious but if I had order again I would order the chicken. The Cocktails were outstanding.
Food was outstanding especially the Peruvian chicken, wedge salad and dessert. Staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful.
Fantastic food, drinks and service. Eclectic menu with accessible favorites. The cocktail menu and bartender reflect deep skill and the French fries...damn. I have never eaten a French fry and thought “Now that’s a good fry!” Until here.
Great meal. Beet salad was insane and drinks were also very good / very interesting.
Took great precautions for social distancing. Great experience.
Had a lovely night at an outdoor table. Service and food were great. Very good COVID protocol
I brought my daughter and her friend for a last minute overnight virtual VCU campus visit and were able to book a table but I was worried, not knowing if two 17 girls would enjoy the few selections. They loved it! Although, the menu was limited it had a choice for all tastes.
Such great vibes and even better food! While we were there the staff held a toast to an employee that was leaving after a number of years. It was so fun to be apart of the celebration!
We had an amazing waiter, Justin. Always great food and service!
Oxtail appetizers were amazing. Fries was amazing. Peruvian chicken was very good, the portion was huge! My wife loved her cocktail. My root beer was good.
Fabulous meal - best one yet in fact. Appreciate flexibility of outdoor seating option but street noise can be a hassle on occasion.
An amazing dining experience. The presentation and taste could not be surpassed. The chicken wings are far superior to any I’ve ever had. We had several other small plates all met and exceeded every Expectation!! For dinner we had the smash burger, rice bowl and Peruvian chicken and finished off with desserts which were also quite delicious. Would highly recommend Saison for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!
Great food! We stopped in Richmond during our te
Wonderful, as always. Some of the best food in town.
Great drinks, environment and service! We snacked on a plate of fries that were tasty too. Always a well-curated draft list and great cocktails!
As always, "Outstanding". Can't wait to return to try a new dish. Drinks were wonderful. Service was Superb!
Great dinner, but would like a larger wine list
Patio seating turned out to be "sidewalk seating" and literally...on the sidewalk....so be prepared. Cars going by, people walking their dogs, etc. Luckily- it was a nice night out and food was delicious! Great cocktails and our wait staff was wonderful- a lovely young lady....whose name escapes me....
My husband and I were thrilled when one of our very favorite spots, Saison, reopened with reservable outdoor seating! The cocktails, food, and service were amazing, as always, and we enjoyed the novelty of sitting outside on the sidewalk, watching the world go by. Thank you, Saison!
I know things are crazy these days but Justin and the Saison team took extremely good care of us and reminded us what it means to have a meal with friends cooked by the pros.
Saison has some of the best food and cocktails in Richmond. Hands down
They had a really outstanding menu despite the Covid outbreak. Fresh tomato salad was like being run over by a truck load of vine ripened tomatoes. Some of the most vivid tomatoes I’ve ever had. Mixed with powerful and fresh spices, some of which I could not identify. Hanger steak and grilled string beans were works of art. Perfectly blended flavors and textures. The sauce was indescribable, hints of peanuts. Net impression: magnificent!
Absolutely Perfect. Our favorite restaurant in town, by far!
I had the crispy rice bowl with add on soft egg and pork belly and it was a literal party. The rice and really every ingredient was executed well. The fat and richness of the pork was a needed balance for the assortment of fermented and pickled veggies. To my delight darling pickled green strawberries were included. Also the cocktail was excellent and served in vintage glass. I almost forgot the blistered shishitos that had the most wonderful salsa with flavors I’ve never had. I would be a regular if I lived here.
It was ok. Food was good.
Last minute openTable reservation when some friends wanted to join us and our reservation at another restaurant could not handle +2. Only had a streetside outside the market table which was fine. After a few minutes and before any food, a ton on of pesky biting black flies showed up. Certainly not the restaurant's fault. They were a bit of an annoyance, but the excellent food, cocktails, and service more than made up for the visitors. We will definitely return for an indoor table soon!
All the food and bev was amazing. The burger really lives up to the hype. Menu is viewed on phone which is great so you don’t have to touch anything and lots of other CovId precautions. Made a reservation for a table outside which was great except for the flies. Not totally sure if anything can be done about it but getting swarmed by them was definitely not the most pleasant.
Amazing food as usual!
1st time out since COVID lockdown. Service, food, and cocktails were outstanding!
Thank you for all the effort that goes into being open right now.
Was so happy to see this spot reopened. Fabulous drinks, good food, friendly service and good value. Look forward to our next visit!
The outdoor space was just perfect. Justin was an amazing an attentive server. The food was excellent and was a very good value.
imaginative and elevated dishes, great service, wonderful stop for first time in Richmond.
Our Lively, Brilliant uncles came to down. We wanted to show them some of Richmond’s eclectic and intentional cuisine. The specials blew it out of the park, the food was out of the park and served our group well. The noise level was pretty awful when the room was full, hard to hear each other. But by the end of the night, the ambience was perfect.
Sexy pork chop seasoned and cooked beautifully was the standout for me. Other food selections were good and service was attentive and professional.
Saison was recommended by a friend and what a great find it was. We tried several small plates and could not decide which one we liked the most. They were all SO GOOD! Our server was very friendly and helpful. We will most certainly go back to try more dishes.
Delicious food and flavors! Everything was very good, and I appreciated that the menu had allergy friendly dishes including gluten free options, vegan options and even a fancy non-alcoholic mixed drink.
I had very high expectations for this restaurant after reading the review from
Richmond magazine. We went on a Sunday night and first thing was waiting in the doorway not knowing where to go to checkin for our reservation until went searching for someone. Meanwhile, 2 separate servers Looked at us directly and said nothing. Next we were sat at a table that was literally 1 inch from another table of 4. It was very very loud and hard to converse. The food was okay. The fried brussel sprouts were wonderful but the duck confit was not edible. It was bitter and had long strands of some sort of root vegetable that made it difficult to eat. I ordered halibut. The fish was cooked well but was crazy overly salted on the surface. If the price had been thicker it may have been okay but it was just too salty to eat. It was fried chicken night and the chicken was pretty good but the dressing was too heavy and full of chicken as well so it was overkill. The French fries wi the burger were also over seasoned so overall for a $174 bill it was most definitely NOT worth it. Very disappointed.
