Saint Lawrence Gridiron
we're looking for a clearer understanding of how American food and cocktails became what they are, chasing the history and putting our spin on it.
To make a reservation for over 6 people, please call the restaurant at (208) 433-5598.
The brisket served at SLG is an unparalleled dining experience.
Yes, we LOVE this restaurant! Our go to when family or friends are in town and for date night (but also child friendly) DEF recommend the brisket plate and pickle platter <3
As usual the food, appetizer and entrées did not disappoint. The beverages were excellent, again as expected. I was a little surprised by the service as I have always thought it to be exemplary. Our server seemed preoccupied with the guests/friends at another table. Because of that, our appetizer was forgotten initially. We will definitely return in hopes of a better service experience
Our food was delicious and the service was great. It was a quiet and relaxing dinner after a stressful week.
Saint Lawrence Gridiron is always wonderful. The service is great and the drinks and food are outstanding. One of my favorite restaurants in the Treasure Valley.
It was quiet for a Monday the menu was small but the food was great. The burgers are so big you have to cut them up. The beet salad and ministrone was excellent. I recommend this restaurant, they also have outdoor eating but it was warm that day so we ate inside, very air conditioned, the young lady at the bar was very nice and helpful.
We ordered the brisket, trout, and shrimp and grits. All was cooked well and the service was excellent. We ate outside and it was a beautiful night. Highly recommend!
Loved the bones and toast, just like they should be done and presented, although if there was a way to keep them warm, they'd be awesome; the pork and toast was a little sweet for my husband's taste. Not crazy about shrimp and grits, the shrimp overcooked and the sauce tasted and looked like a can of diced tomatoes was dumped on the plate, mixed with some spices...
My husband's brisket platter was great, so we can go back for that...
And the cocktails were awesome! Husband loves whiskey, and he said that was the best old fashioned he ever had in Boise. I'm not a whiskey drinker, but I had a sip, and even I liked it.
The chocolate torte was good, but nothing one can't get other places...
Overall, I do recommend it, and I think we'll go back, but won't get the shrimp and grits next time.
I’m grateful for half price Friday’s for the experience...the beef rib was fantastic, I would’ve liked more beets for the “beet” salad. We will be back, no complaints
Great place to take Dad’s for Father’s Day Brunch. Low-key place with great food and drinks.
Can't beat the shrimp and grits (or the brisket, or the burger)!
It was our first time here and I don’t think we will go back anytime soon. The server didn’t really pay attention to us, maybe they are not kids friendly (they don’t have a changing table in case you are planning on going there with little ones). Our food arrived 40ish minutes after ordering and it was just warm, my poached eggs didn’t run as I cut into them, overall disappointed. It was a Father’s Day brunch for my husband which we didn’t really enjoy. Too bad, it came highly recommended.
Excellent as always. The cocktails are fantastic, the brisket and wings perfectly cooked, and the staff is very accommodating. Highly recommended.
The Monte Cristo was delicious. Who knew French toast and pulled pork would go together.
I went there during the week to try the restaurant for the first time. The menu was heavy in mostly meat choices and the wine selection small. It took about 15 minutes for a server to great us and then another 20 for the drinks to arrive. The server did not come across as friendly and made my daughter feel uncomfortable when she askws how something was prepared (she is allergic to peanuts). I suggest they spend some time training their servers to smile and be respectful always to their customers.
It was as fantastic as I've come to expect from SLG. The food was phenomenal and the staff were friendly and efficient. I'd rate SLG higher than five stars!
An unbelievable and unexpected surprise dining experience in downtown Boise. This is a first rate farm to table restaurant with very personal attention paid to every dish that comes out the kitchen. The flavors are purely home-grown. Don't miss this one if you are in town.
Always a good meal with smoked meats and fresh veggies at St Lawrence Gridiron. We will continue to go back again and again.
This is one of my favorite spots in Boise now. Amazing drinks and fantastic food.
Lovely food and presentation, great service, wonderful cocktails and wine selection, a bit noisy was quite busy right at the peak of the dinner hour. A bit more costly than other places but overall worth it :)
Brisket was the best I have had in Boise. Everyone in our group seemed to enjoy their meal. Definitely worth trying.
I went to Saint Lawrence Gridiron for my 29th birthday and for the first time ever. It was better then I could have expected. The name is a little confusing but the meat is not. Loved my sandwich. Very comfy, very cool, staff is great, clean and tidy. 👍👍
Girlfriends and I made a visit to @slgridiron for small lunch as walking back to our parked car after shopping @capitalcitypublicmarket. Smoked wings are normally served during their dinner time but the chef made an exception and let us order them. They were delicious and I thank the chef. But our server’s last remark as she was walking away about me asking her for a small to-go homemade sauce as she was walking away left us some bitter taste in our mouth. We sat on their patio in the sun and just didn't want to take a leftover (only very little was left) sauce home. Everyone that knows me knows I am a generous tipper. This was a hard one for me.
St. Lawrence Gridiron is probably the most original restaurant in the Boise area. They are about the roots of American cuisine. The menu has included shrimp and grits, pulled pork, smoked trout salad, brisket, catfish, cod, smoked lamb shank, and a huge beef rib so fabulous it was featured on the Food Channel. With a characteristic sense of humor, they also list the "requisite veggie" entree. A black smoker out front flavors most of the meat. If you're nearby when it's cooking, no matter how recently you ate, that woodsmoke aroma will rekindle your appetite and pull you right in the door.
In an atmosphere of "rustic chic," a variety of rotating and original beer offerings and a bar emphasizing bourbon and rye are mainstays. The cocktails are as good as any in the area and better than most. I gave up martinis for the Ford and love the Sazerac when made with cognac instead of rye. Appetizers have included poutine, pork sliders, wings du jour, radish and burrata, boiled peanuts (a southern treat), and bones and toast - bone marrow, hot and tasty.
St. Lawrence Gridiron sells first-rate lunches, including tasty and colorful vegetarian salads, unique and satisfying burgers, the bleu brisket sandwich, mac and cheese, and a variety of sides: varying soups, great fries, succotash, or side salad.
A review like this can't even begin to do the menu justice. It is a truly amazing experience: Not a culinary cliche in sight. And it changes with the seasons.
Desserts, of which there are peresently two, are hearty and offer new and tempting variations on familiar favorites, like bananas foster or bourbon apple bread pudding.
The service is attentive and conscientious. I have always been well taken care of there.
Whether you are out for an excellent dinner, business lunch, late-night drinks, weekend brunch (try the Brisket Benedict), or just to lounge on their spacious patio, you will find the St. Lawrence Gridiron gives you many great reasons to come back.
The food was particularly good.
I had the shrimp and grits; my friend had the pulled pork sandwich. Southern-inspired, smoky, delicious. Certainly no complaints here! We enjoyed having lunch on the patio. It was quiet on that particular sunny Tuesday, but I think there's more of a crowd after work and on weekends. I've never had a bad meal or a bad drink here.
Off the charts BBQ.
There was a party that most likely accounted for the large number of people and the louder than expected noise level. Our server was very attentive and ready with good recommendations. The brisket was a bit more fat-laced than we expected, but flavorful. The Cubano sandwich was good, but a bit fatty since it included brisket. The ribs and wings were very good.
Pretty solid place for brunch. The brisket benedict was delicious and who doesn't like a mimosa. Would go there again.
Food was great as usual. i love the Shrimp & Grits! And my wife had the Hash which she always enjoys.
I love the brisket!! The cocktail menu is fun. We are frequent guests. Def my number 1 downtown spot. We bring all of our out of town guests here. Thank you St. Lawrence, you are a saint;-)
Outstanding as usual. I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Saint Lawrence Gridiron many times and have never been disappointed. They make the best Old Fashion in town in my opinion. Incredible food, amazing drinks and great service everytime!
The food and cocktails were fantastic as usual! I swore I wouldn’t get the brisket platter again but I couldn’t help myself. I wish it came with a few more of those biscuits. My girl got the wings which I’ve never tried and they were amazing.
The food, drinks, and atmosphere were awesome. Excellent place for an after work business meeting.
One of the more unique restaurants in Boise. This place never disappoints
The food was different and delicious. The service was great. I would go back and also recommend this restaurant to other.
We happen to come across this place when looking for a place to eat lunch on our last day in Boise back in February. We had just gotten hipster t-shirts with the image of the state of Idaho, with a long beard coming out of the bottom. This place seemed like the perfect place to go next. The beef brisket sandwich with blue cheese was good. Bob also enjoyed the burger he ordered. They have a good selection of craft beer as well.
Gave 4 stars for service because training of staff. We were there on quiet evening so unsure of noise. If restaurant was full could be difficult to hear normal level conversation. Food was good. I would recommend to try. I would go back.
Overall, we enjoyed eating here. The atmosphere was welcoming and not too loud at all, but as someone with Celiac, I would have appreciated some more GF options. Compared to other downtown Boise restaurants, their GF selections were lacking across the board. A GF menu, or GF indicators on the menu, would be a great start! The server was knowledgable and kind, but not super attentive (I had to ask twice for my water to be refilled). I did enjoy the shrimp and grits that I ordered, and my partner was happy with his brisket. A+ on the cocktails.
Great food. Fun staff. Awesome night
