SAGE Woodfire Tavern - Perimeter Ratings and Reviews
Although we made reservations for 9:15pm; we had to wait an additional 30 minutes. The hostess was not friendly and considerate of those waiting with reservations. She never apologized for the wait and treated us if we were an inconvenience. She worked the desk both Friday and Saturday night with the same attitude. We thought the attitude came from us not having reservations so we made sure to make it for Saturday. Probably need to find her a position from the front desk.
I had made a reservation for 7.15 but we weren't seated until 7.40. Even though the table we were taken to had been ready since we walked in the door, the hostess kept telling us it would take a couple of minutes to get our table ready. Another party of 2 people who didn't have reservations got a table before we did. As it was a Saturday night, there were several parties taking place, so the place was extremely noisy. Once we were seated, the service was good but the food was only average. I would certainly not go there again, given all the other restaurant choices in the area.
I took a client to lunch at Sage yesterday. The service was attentive; the food was excellent; and the restaurant was quiet enough to easily engage in quiet business conversation. And, I thought the meal prices were quite reasonable. I had the goat cheese chicken, and it was delicious.
Only 2 of 5 meals in our party were properly cooked. The two steak frites were perfectly cooked (medium). My wife’s rack of lamb was medium well to well done (supposed to be medium). My sons burger was well done (supposed to be medium). My Woodfire filet was beyond well done (supposed to be medium). I sent it back and the next one came back very rare (basically just seared). The whole process took so long I gave up and told them to forget my meal. Waiter was very nice and apologetic. Manager was a bit gruff. They didn’t charge me for my meal since I cancelled it, but didn’t offer any other compensation (glass of wine, dessert, etc). Don’t think I will return anytime soon.
I feel bad as I write this review. I believe everyone wanted to make our dining experience a good one. However, this was close, if not the worst dining experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
As we were seated, we sat in horror as a light bulb was changed in fixture above our table complete with ladder and staff. Our drinks were served watery and when we brought this to the waiters attention, instead of them being remade, shots of liquor were brought to the table so we could mix our own. The shared appetizer was bland and taste less as were the different fishes ordered with the main course. In fairness, the waiter brought our entree displeasure to the attention of management who credited the worst meal, but this did little to salvage the evening. The staff was friendly, but we felt rushed throughout the dining experience as entrees were served before the appetizer had been consumed. Additionally, it seemed to be training night as one staff member followed another and the coordination among the two was at best awkward. Everything seemed rushed from beginning to end. There is little that can be positively stated about our dining experience. I guess the best I can say is that we are aware and will not be returning anytime soon.
Overall the experience was just okay. The chicken fettuccine was to die for and the strawberry lemon drop the best I ever had. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The server Nadia was very petty and unprofessional. She took 20 minutes before she took our order. She did not come to refill drinks. Her experience but a very bad taste in my month. Even the general manager tried to make it better, the damage was already done. The server whom she was replaced with (guy whose name starts with D) was phenomenal. He made sure our drinks were refilled. He took the time to explain things on the dessert menu and was very charming and professional. Speaking of dessert, the crumb cake was delicious. I will visit again and recommend friends, but I never want her as my server.
The service was good but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The food looks appetizing and the presentation is wonderful; however, when you take a bite you realize that this food was cooked and prepared by blah chefs. The food is bland (no seasoning) and the food was cold. It’s not the cheapest meal either. This is my second time trying them. I was extremely disappointed the first time at the Alpharetta location. The food was so bad and so unfresh that I left a message for the chef that they literally ruined my parents anniversary. Years later, I decided to give it another try but this time in Perimeter. The food was just a little better than the Alpharetta location but still the same. This is my last time at thIs restaurant. The food needs to be redone by some people who know how to season and cook farm to table food.
This place is incredable! I had the scallops with the creamy risotto. I cannot say this enough but the food was out of this world! I have NEVER had food that tasted so good. The chef was a total gem and our waiter AJ was picture perfect. Anytime I'm in town this will be my go to spot! Thank you for a spectacular evening.
Food was great and our server was good. However, hostess/manager refused to allow us to sit in a booth at first. We were told you had to have at least a party of 4(although the booth was only large enough to comfortably seat two). After we observed another party of two sitting in a booth, we asked for a manager and requested to be moved again. The manager told us that the party of two was probably waiting for the rest of their party to arrive. Although this is what we were told, we observed that no one else joined their party. The manager also told us that they had hundreds of reservations they were trying to accommodate yet the section of the restaurant that we were sitting in was almost empty (~4 small parties including us). After the long list of excuses, the manager finally offered for us to move. This immediately changed the dining experience and the level of customer service. In addition to this, the dining room was very cold, which is why we originally asked to move to a booth vs. open seating along the window and middle of the room. Although there may have been hundreds of reservations scheduled for later that day, it should not have dictated the level of customer service or the manager’s willingness to accommodate our needs.
We made reservations for two for a 7:15 pm dinner. Restaurant was very high energy - keep in mind this was New Year's Eve (Saturday night), so it was very busy. Service was excellent. I had the Goat Cheese Chicken and my partner had the Scallops. Both meals were delicious! Restaurant is conveniently located across from Perimeter Mall. We will definitely eat there again!
The restaurant was on a holiday menu on Friday 12/29. My niece who doesn’t eat seafood really didn’t have a lot of choices because of this shortened menu. We asked for the kids menu 2 times for my son which we never received. We ordered 3 appetizers all were just ok. I advised the server about a food allergy he stated the dish we ordered was good, exactly what my husbad is allergic too was in the dish. When I brought it to his attention he stated it wasn’t what we thought it was, the dish was safe to eat. I think we know what he’s allergic too by smell and taste. Overall it wasn’t a great experience the food was just ok not great. We should have left when we seen it was shortened menu. The restaurant seemed staffed well not busy at all but yet the workers seemed frazzled for some strange reason. Very disappointed.
The good, fantastic, I mean really fantastic live music. Nice jazz and R&B. Good service from the management team. Good sides. The bad, my wife and I both ordered steaks, different kinds. I always order medium rare, which evidently is hard for chefs. My wife order medium. Both were overcooked. Plus my ribeye was thin, really hard NOT to overcook. It had a great flavor, at least the pieces around the edges that were the most tender. I think they would be great if they got better quality cuts of meat, and paid more attention to cooking time. I would go back for the music, and maybe try something no so easily to mess up.
GM was warm, inviting and personable. Waiter(s) were inattentive and pedicure. Appy's were fair to poor. Main courses were good...not memorable but good. Desert was good. Drinks were best part of meal. We would go back, but not looking for an exceptional meal...nice atmosphere
My husband had the parm chicken which he said had a weird after-taste, but overall the dish was still good. The rest of the food was excellent. The scallops/risotto is my favorite!
We were there to celebrate my birthday and my daughter's birthday, and we enjoyed it and got dessert that we weren't charged for...so that was cool.
The waiter was good...no real complaints, except he wasnt excellent, which i would expect for the price tag. We werent really rushed, but you could tell he wanted to "turn tables" because it is holiday season and so close to Christmas. But we took our time anyway. We werent there that long, but we wanted to ENJOY our time there. So we did.
We chose the Perimeter location this time because we were in the area, but your other location at Windy Hill in Marietta has always been better overall (atmosphere, service, food, etc.) I will end up going there instead from now on.
it took quite awhile for someone to wait on us once we were seated. spoke to the hostess that we were there for 15 minuets to see if the table was assigned to a server as she was passing by; she was kind enough to take our drink order then our server arrived. our server was very nice yet new to the restaurant but not new to serving we could tell. we ordered and asked if we could sub mashed potatoes for the cubed potatoes under the chicken dish she recommended ~ yes! could spinach be substituted for the rice on the shrimp dish ~ yes! when the food arrived we received separate dishes of mashed potatoes and spinach. not understanding why i found later she ordered side dishes of each instead. the total for the two sides was around $16 is this the end of the world? no however after loosing my job every penny counts and we would have not asked for subs if there was an up charge or additional charge. since i was treating a family member who i rarely see and the check was just dropped off there was no opportunity to reconcile. i paid the bill and left a proper tip however the experience was not right. when the order was placed and read back each of us understood it to be subbed items. won’t recommend or go again. happy to give 5 stars for holiday decorations and music ~ great ambience.
Had reservations waited over 45 minutes an wanted to seat me at a table the manager put together. It was like aluminum chaired and a small table almost in an aisle near the hostess station. Shame on you Sage Wildfire tavern. This is the second time this has happen. This happened in June of this year after waiting 2 hours. I was going to give them another try on my Bday! Disappointment all over again.
I try to visit Sage every time I am in the Sandy Springs area on business. The food and service are both fantastic. The group I dined with had a variety of dinners i.e., steak, seafood, pasta, we were all very satisfied with our meals. I always have a wonderful experience at Sage and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
