SAGE Woodfire Tavern - Alpharetta Ratings and Reviews
Went here for son’s birthday and atmosphere is nice and I could see how happy hour here could be fun. They had live jazz playing and it was a great setting for cocktails. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The dinner took a long time to cook even though they were not busy. The food came out lukewarm and had both chicken dishes, and they were not very good. My husband said the steak was good, but not great.
Group of eight went New Years Eve. Menu was not as per menu on their web site and all prices increased 20 to 25%. Service was acceptable but server was overwhelmed. All meals, except one, were criticized and one was returned. Not good value. Very disappointing.
Waitress was wonderful! But the restaurant was out of scallops and the sea bass was off the menu! When we ordered surf and turf we received the combo with sirloin. We sent it back and received over cooked filet and shrimp instead of lobster. Apparently out of that as well! Also the restaurant was freezing! We asked to turn up the heat but it never got warm!
All started out well with a friendly waiter, drinks & appetizers. It went down hill from there. After a 30 wait, our entrees shows up skipping our salads completely. The waiter didn’t seem to even realize till we asked him where they were.
Food - mediocre especially for the price. My husband had ribs. Go anywhere but here for that.
Rest of the meal was lukewarm & just bleh.
I hate when I’m asked to pass plates & silverware to others at the table. This isn’t a boarding house.
Save your money. Go anywhere but here.
This was not a great experience for Christmas Eve dinner with the family. The music was way too loud, the service was very slow, the food was subpar, vegetables were lukewarm even cold, the steak was called and had to be sent back and when they brought it back out again it was folded on top of the potato that wasn’t even cut open, they were bones in the halibut, And when we ordered coffee after the meal, it was so weak it tasted like they waved coffee grounds over lukewarm water. Fortunately they comped the steak meal because it was so tough and chewy it wasn’t edible. But not a good experience especially for Christmas Eve dinner.
We were celebrating my 50th birthday and had always wanted to try Sage.
The service was slow to start with ... we had a reservation but arrived early so we sat in the bar area to wait. The manager had to find us a server to take our drink order, took 15 mins just to order. Then when we finally were seated, ordering took no time at all. However, we had to send our steaks back not once but twice because they were under cooked AND we had to ask for our side dishes.
The server tried to make up for the bad food service and she went beyond necessary in her attempt. We enjoyed her service but again the food was lacking in preparation.
Food was good. But not great. Had 6 appetizers for 7 people. All were good except bang bang shrimp. A half a. head of iceberg lettuce covered with blue cheese dressing and soggy shrimp on side. From the time we ordered are entrees it took a hour and ten minutes to get our food. The steak and fries were tasteless over a bed of overcooked spinach. Food was only Luke warm. Disappointing.
Had it not been that we were entertained talking with our guests we would have complained. It was nearly 15 minutes after seating before we were able to place our drink orders. Our waitress was training a new guy that I’m pretty sure had never worked in a restaurant before. The food was excellent and the servers were very friendly, they were just overwhelmed and seemed to disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. The shrimp bang bang appetizer was great. Our salads came out about 2 minutes before the entrees. Again the food was great but the timing was off and they seemed a little short handed.
We are new to the area and saw Sage listed as romantic restaurant online. Had good ambiance and live music but food was not good and really over priced. Service not much better. Crab on salmon was questionable and cheese in stuffed chicken smelled like feet. We brought home leftovers thinking maybe we just weren't hungry enough that night but threw it out the next day due to horrible smell. Will not return.
My seafood broil with creamy risotto was fantastic and the portion was generous. My wife's goat cheese stuffed chicken was somewhat overcooked and dry however the flavors were great. We've tried a few different items in the past and overall we enjoy the food and ambiance of Sage.
Overall a nice experience. For the price of the meals I'd say food quality needs improvement. It was not bad, but needs more flare and flavor. Dined with the wife and daughter. One exceptional meal out of three.
The wait staff did an excellent job and the owner was most cordial and attentive to the clientele.
Ambiance is good and the live entertainment made the evening.
It took over 2 hours for a table of 4 to get salads and lettuce wraps. Ridiculous. Also, the food is inconsistent and is way too expensive for what it is. I dine at nice restaurants all the time, but the food and quality typically matches the price. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. There are definitely better restaurants in Alpharetta.
My friends and I came here for dinner while visiting, and we are all still talking about it days later. The shrimp and grits set the bar pretty high for everywhere else we've gotten them. Sage has by far been the best! We are all looking forward to coming back again. Very highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for high quality food at a very reasonable price.
The food is a little pricey but worth it for the amount you get. I love the bar area and our server Brianna was awesome. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and made wonderful dinner suggestions. The owner checked on us numerous times. Great for after work Happy Hour but also a great meeting spot for friends. Loved the Jazz musician but preferred the rock that used to be there. Very impressed
While we were seated promptly for our reservation, and our server was very attentive and very nice, the food was nothing special. Three stars Ian generous.
I ordered the surf and turf. For my $48, including tip, I got a ribeye that was maybe a half inch thick, quite small and full of fat and gristle. It was cooked well and tasted good, there just wasn't much to it at all. The risotto was OK and the two small little stuffed shrimp on my plate we're rubbery and we're not fresh or Gulf shrimp.
I realize people in this area probably don't even blink at spending 50 bucks for a casual dinner but to me this was not a $50 meal. I don't see why I would ever go back.
The food was awful, came out cold and it was overpriced!! Honestly most of it tasted like it was made the day before and reheated slightly. When we sat down we immediately noticed that the place was almost empty with the exception of he bar area and it was 8 on Saturday night! We figured out why that was the case pretty quick. We definitely will not be back. This restaurant should not be on open table.
