Had it not been that we were entertained talking with our guests we would have complained. It was nearly 15 minutes after seating before we were able to place our drink orders. Our waitress was training a new guy that I’m pretty sure had never worked in a restaurant before. The food was excellent and the servers were very friendly, they were just overwhelmed and seemed to disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. The shrimp bang bang appetizer was great. Our salads came out about 2 minutes before the entrees. Again the food was great but the timing was off and they seemed a little short handed.
We are new to the area and saw Sage listed as romantic restaurant online. Had good ambiance and live music but food was not good and really over priced. Service not much better. Crab on salmon was questionable and cheese in stuffed chicken smelled like feet. We brought home leftovers thinking maybe we just weren't hungry enough that night but threw it out the next day due to horrible smell. Will not return.
My seafood broil with creamy risotto was fantastic and the portion was generous. My wife's goat cheese stuffed chicken was somewhat overcooked and dry however the flavors were great. We've tried a few different items in the past and overall we enjoy the food and ambiance of Sage.
Overall a nice experience. For the price of the meals I'd say food quality needs improvement. It was not bad, but needs more flare and flavor. Dined with the wife and daughter. One exceptional meal out of three.
The wait staff did an excellent job and the owner was most cordial and attentive to the clientele.
Ambiance is good and the live entertainment made the evening.
It took over 2 hours for a table of 4 to get salads and lettuce wraps. Ridiculous. Also, the food is inconsistent and is way too expensive for what it is. I dine at nice restaurants all the time, but the food and quality typically matches the price. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. There are definitely better restaurants in Alpharetta.
My friends and I came here for dinner while visiting, and we are all still talking about it days later. The shrimp and grits set the bar pretty high for everywhere else we've gotten them. Sage has by far been the best! We are all looking forward to coming back again. Very highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for high quality food at a very reasonable price.
The food is a little pricey but worth it for the amount you get. I love the bar area and our server Brianna was awesome. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and made wonderful dinner suggestions. The owner checked on us numerous times. Great for after work Happy Hour but also a great meeting spot for friends. Loved the Jazz musician but preferred the rock that used to be there. Very impressed
While we were seated promptly for our reservation, and our server was very attentive and very nice, the food was nothing special. Three stars Ian generous.
I ordered the surf and turf. For my $48, including tip, I got a ribeye that was maybe a half inch thick, quite small and full of fat and gristle. It was cooked well and tasted good, there just wasn't much to it at all. The risotto was OK and the two small little stuffed shrimp on my plate we're rubbery and we're not fresh or Gulf shrimp.
I realize people in this area probably don't even blink at spending 50 bucks for a casual dinner but to me this was not a $50 meal. I don't see why I would ever go back.
The food was awful, came out cold and it was overpriced!! Honestly most of it tasted like it was made the day before and reheated slightly. When we sat down we immediately noticed that the place was almost empty with the exception of he bar area and it was 8 on Saturday night! We figured out why that was the case pretty quick. We definitely will not be back. This restaurant should not be on open table.
It was loud. They had "live music" which was very loud, and even in a back corner we had difficulty having conversation. Live music in a restaurant like this is not appreciated and not appropriate. The food was high priced which would have been fine if the quality had been good, but it was not. I had the prime rib, at half and left the rest. It was not even good enough for me to request a take-home box. The green beans were undercooked. Overall, the food was bland. It was stuffy and hot. Waiter said the air conditioner was not working, but in the whole hour we were there, no improvement was made. This is not a place I would recommend.
The restaurant was 85 degrees. The first manager seemed not to care, the second was a little better. It was so noisy we had to yell to hear each other. The food was so-so. They had no soap in the bathroom, only lotion. Very disappointing all around. I have been many times and will not return again.
The food was VERY disappointing. The French Onion soup was made with Vidalia Sweet Onions, it should be made with Gruyere or Swiss cheese. It was terrible. The bisque soup was so thin it lacked any consistency of Bisque and was virtually tasteless.
Both our chicken dinners were good.
The price of the entire evening was so VERY over the quality of the meal and experience.
Will NOT return
We have been here several times and had a great experience every time. One time a date night, another time with another a couple and most recently a group of 10 girlfriends. Great service. Seafood is really good. Appetizer portions are great for sharing.
Food ok not wonderful, for the price should be wonderful. Wait staff friendly but I was not pleased when the waitress reached over my plate and arm to retrieve the tab that I just finished signing. Professional courtesy would dictate she wait until I set it in the corner or at the edge of the table. Manager very courteous and sincerely wanted to ensure we were happy; unfortunately my colleague, visiting from abroad, preferred we not share our disappointment.
Were a little disappointed in the beginning. No one at the door when we walked in.Stood there for about 5 minutes before a manager came over. Once sat, we must have sat for about 10 minutes without seeing a server. The table behind us was sat and greeted before us. Not off to a good start. The menu was very long in display which made it difficult for both of us to read our menu at the same time (they kept hitting each other). There was a solo artist playing live music in the bar area (Saturday night). He went on a break, maybe 30 minutes, and all we could hear was the amplifier ringing. No music to replace him, so it was conversations of all of the tables and the amp ringing. Very annoying and unpleasant. Our Server, Parker, did an excellent job though and made up for the troublesome start. The food was excellent and we had a great experience. Will definitely return and hope for a better evening.
We went there for dinner on Saturday night to find the place half empty. The service and food were good but the noise level was intolerable due to loud taped music. We asked them to turn it down and they did for a short while and then turned it back up. Conversation was impossible.
This was our 3rd visit to Sage. Our profile requests a quiet table along an outside wall of the restaurant. We were put in a small room with a group of 10-15. They were very loud which is certainly their right but uncomfortable for us. There were many other tables available in the restaurant. We decided to leave and instead they moved us to a different table which was behind the servers station. Much quieter but not very picturesque. The prices seemed to be much higher than our previous visits and the food quality much lower. All during our meal the staff were making a lot of apologies to neighboring tables for problems from the kitchen.
Very happy I made Mother's Day reservation here. 1st time here and it was the best. Our waitress was very kind, courteous, and attentive. Although the speed of service was slow she never made us feel forgotten. The manager and owner came by to greet us which was a pleasant surprise. We will return !!
Mother's Day...good food but service not so great. My fourth time there and it's been that way each time. They said it was their busiest day but the place was not nearly full by 3pm & service was still bad. I tipped him 20% because I don't think it was all the servers fault. They stated they were too busy so no food modifications...big turn off.
