This SAGE location has been closed since the end of September 2018. They even removed the sign on the front. They have no intention to re-open it again. It was doing really poorly this year.
Had biz lunch and was not that busy but filled up later. Good menu with variety. Very good value. we were not drinking but place looked like it could get hopping.
Our appetizer was good. The protein portion of our main courses tasted fine, but were not served with any presentation or flair. My wife's sides were cold and unappetizing. My supposedly "loaded baked potato" was served without any fixings, and I had to ask twice and wait 10 minutes to get the "loadings", and by the time they came the potato was cold and the butter was served frozen and was therefore unusable. At the time our main courses were served, my wife asked for a second glass of wine. As she was finishing her main course, she asked what happened to it and the server said the bartender was busy and would get to it in a few minutes -- although the restaurant was less than half full at that time. She never did get that glass of wine. Mediocre food, poor service, but fine dining prices -- not a good mix.
The hostess took several minutes to approach us and complained about being hot, busy, and literally swatted a nat from her face. With jumbled communication she stopped greeting us to question a customer for glancing around, looked back at us and rolled her eyes.
Once sat, the waitress was pleasant but not able to answer direct questions about the menu, which led to having to return an appetizer. The waitress became more friendly as the dinner continued—but the nats made their way to our table. By the end of the meal, we were ready to leave.
I don't think we’ll be back.
Food was good, but servers disappeared for a while. Too loud at times for talking.
This was our third visit (at least) to Sage, this time on a Sat night, and unfortunately disappointing compared to prior visits. We both ordered salads to go with our entrees, and they were huge -- it would have helped if the waiter had suggested we share one -- I guess we could have asked too. The bill did not reflect the menu price for the salads when ordered with an entree, and the Tanqueray/tonic was not Tanqueray (or the tonic was not tonic?) although that was what we had asked for and were billed for -- so extra time was spent getting the bill corrected, after we waited an extraordinarily long time for the bill to come (the restaurant was not that busy). While we were having our dinner, it was obvious that another table had issues with either their meal or bill since a manager spent some time at their table before they got up and left, obviously not happy. The food was very good, as it has been in the past, and our bill was appropriately corrected, so we may give Sage one more try in future.
Food and service was below expectations for the price.
Fabulous from start to finish! The rolls and the infused olive oil were divine. I had salmon grilled to perfection with an incredible beurre blanc sauce. My husband had an amazing Parmesan crusted chicken with an incredible sauce and delicious potatoes and sausage. Cocktails were very generous - maybe a bit strong but that's not necessarily a bad thing right? We will definitely go back!!
Thanks Gavin, you really looked after us well! We enjoyed the Spare Ribs!
It took 10 minutes to just get water and another 45 before we got appetizers. The food was good but the waiter made the experience painful. He didn’t tell us about any specials. We had to eavesdrop on the table next to us to hear that there even were some. He clearly could not read our frustration and finally resorted to asking him to “please come right back” with more water and a coke. And... he didn’t.
The chicken fettuccine was bland & it didn’t have no taste at all. Plus it seems as if the chicken used in the pasta was rubbery. We also ordered the baby back ribs & they were extremely over cooked. All I can say is that meal was one of the worst I’ve ever had & it’s not worth the price.
The evening was a great experience. We took out of state friends to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
We will be back!!!
Their food is always amazing. We also enjoy the music.
our waiter, john, was excellent. a recent veteran he was thoughtful. always there when needed and extremely polite . he made dining a pleasure
Very loud and off key singer in lounge , food was over cooked and unappetizing. Very disappointed and won’t be back.
Chose Sage to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The ambiance was perfect, the food was excellent and the service was outstanding! Certainly will revisit as well as recommend to my friends. Also the free birthday dessert was a wonderful touch! Great place to go to!
Sage seems to be slipping in quality. The hostess made us wait five minutes before seating us, despite there being about eight booths available when we walked in after having made a reservation. The hostess and waitstaff felt a bit under-practiced and unprofessional. The manager seems nice enough: he visits each table and asks if everything was to our liking, but when put on the spot like that, it's hard to really get into everything that's being done wrong without coming across as a jerk. Here's what I noticed:
1. The food is "meh." It's by no means bad, but it's not great, either. I'd say it's middle of the road, but the visuals of the restaurant don't match the food quality you get. I was expecting higher quality steak than what I got, to be more direct. I also don't like the way they serve the food. Salads in giant white bowls? Steaks heaped on top of a pile of fries, making the fries soggy? A lot can be improved with presentation and details in this area. Details, details, details.
2. The waitstaff needs to be trained in professionalism. They aren't terrible, but they aren't polished, either. The outfits are bland, and the service is nominal. Sometimes the staff doesn't seem entirely coordinated right, either. Two staff members ended up clashing momentarily over who was going to service the table after dinner, and that was a bit awkward. Outfits need to be enforced. No jeans! Dress slacks, please, and a more polished manner of communicating with each table would be preferred.
3. Bang for your buck is lacking here. The meal, after all was said and done between two people ordering two meals and a few drinks (no desert), was $101.00. With tip, that comes to $121.00. We don't think our dining experience was worth that.
Sage is trying to be high-end, but it fails in managing to do this in the final analysis, unfortinately.
P.s. Clean out that decorative koi pond in the front. The fish are delightful, but the muddy water isn't attractive. Again—details!
My fiancé and I went there to celebrate our birthdays, which are a day apart. We did this last year and had a wonderful meal and experience. They brought us each two complimentary appetizers and two complimentary desserts. This year, despite putting on our opentable reservation that we were celebrating our birthdays, we didn't get any special acknowledgment. The waiter was attentive but we had to ask about our birthday dessert. He then brought us a Happy Anniversary dessert. I guess the message didn't get passed along and they weren't prepared. The food was still really good and the ambiance was nice because the guy playing music and singing wasn't too loud to overshadow our conversation.
The food was great! Our waiter was efficient and friendly. He made us feel welcome. We will definitely return.
The carpet smells spoiled. Not a fan of of carpeted restaurants.
My guests' appetizer came out 15min before my soup. When I asked why they would do that because it is (rude) inappropriate the Waiter lied and said the soup was made to order.
Soup was cold (crab & artichoke) and sent back TWICE. I finally asked my waiter to just place it in the microwave, which he did.
Meal was Ribeye and mash snd spinach. Yhe spinach was awesome. Mash had no flavor at all. I love mash potatoes and was so disappointed. And the steak.....OMG. It wasnt well seasoned, tasted like burnt chart, and was dry (medium well)
Restaurant was recommended on Atlanta Eats but I do not recommend.
Worst $60 spent ever!!!
Poor service, average food
First time visit, Anniversary Dinner. Welcomed with Happy Anniversary, along with outstanding service and "special" dessert. Truly enjoyable evening, food and service excellent.
Sage in Alpharetta was good. The scallops and Risotto dish was excellent as well as my friend's
Chilean Sea Bass. The guys had ribs and rack of lamb. Just ok.
Service was good but kind of overbearing. He checked on us too much.
Service was quite good, but a little overbearing. The main courses were outstanding. Our appetizers and salads were ok, but nothing to write home about. The A/C wasn't working well, and for a warm evening, it was extremely uncomfortable! Nice atmosphere, but not really fond of the throwback music. Overall a nice, relatively quiet, unassuming experience.
You cannot have a bad meal here and the service staff is just great. Anniversary dinner last year and did the same this year --- and no regrets. Price is standard fair and not outlandish. Appetizer great too so GO HERE with no worries at all!!!
Always great food and service at Sage. Been to Alpharetta and also the Perimeter and you can count on it every time. A definite go to place for lunch or dinner.
Won’t be back. Food mediocre. Service poor. Got orders wrong. There are better choices elsewhere in Alpharetta.
The atmosphere was great, and the service was great. Our waiter, Major, was very patient and knowledgeable about the food. Although busy, he juggled everything really well. We came for a birthday celebration, and the owner of the restaurant made my friends day even more special with amazing treats! The music was very nice and relaxing. The food was phenomenal! We really enjoyed our experience. We will be back!
The food here was terrible. Based on ambiance I thought the food would have flavor but it was under seasoned and bland. Very disappointed will not be returning
Great service and ambience. Probs and steak were good. Baked potatoes were fair. Overall very good.
Had dinner with friends. First time eating here. Food was spot-on. Service was friendly and speedy. From drinks to the food we could not be more impressed. Will dine there again.
Good food, great atmosphere and service. Music in the evenings.
The food was pretty good but our server left a lot to be desired. Despite the fact that I indicated that it was a birthday celebration, no one acknowledged it. In fact, towards the end of the meal, the server had disappeared. Maybe he was also the live singer?
It took him forever to come back as we wanted to box up some leftovers in which I would think the server would box it for you. To top it off, the server never offered dessert as this was a birthday celebration and just brought us the check. Very disappointed as I thought the service would be better considering that it’s supposed to be a couple steps above Chili’s.
It did seem slow there for a Friday evening so maybe that’s an indication that others aren’t returning. This was our first visit but I’m not sure if we will be back.
We met there in advance of Verizon concert. We explained that we had limited time. Service was very, very slow such that we missed part of the concert. Food was OK.
Terrific food. Both steak and seafood.
Wonderful waitress named Karen. Live music in bar area was nice. Dinner very good and I like the ambiance at Sage.
We have enjoyed Sage a few times. This time didn't disappoint. Great food and good service.
Came for Mother’s Day at lunch time. Got seated right away, but after that everything went south. Long wait for drinks, long wait for waitress to take order, long wait for apps to arrive. You notice the theme here. I could go on about every detail, but the summary is that the service was very slow and the food was just terrible. The only redeeming quality was that the manager preemptively apologized and gave us a generous discount off of the bill. He also gave us a Gift Certificate to come back and try them on a “normal day”.
Went for Mother's Day, had not been there prior. Expansive menu, plenty of seating, upscale feel. Service was excellent, good spacing between the courses. Food was good and portions were large, but pricey. All seafood dishes were excellent. Would recommend for special occasions, but not for every day dining if on a budget. Would definitely go back.
Food took over two hours to
Come out and it was cold. Waitress did not apologize and was not accommodating. Will not return.
