Sage Restaurant - Snowmass Ratings and Reviews
Kitchen and waiters were very slow. Quality of food and professionalism of staff was ok, but below average when compared to other restaurants in snowmass and aspen at similar price point. We ordered tuna poki lettuce wraps, ny steak with grilled prawns, chinese red cooked elk tenderloin (ordered medium rare; delivered medium. noodles were over-saturated with soy sauce), thai chicken, cheese cake and special donut desert. Ambiance of restaurant is nice, but location is out of the way in snowmass club.
We had a reservation for New Year's Eve. They have must have overbooked. We were seated in the bar area and waited 1.5 hours for our food. Then after it was delivered nobody checked back with us and one of the dishes was overcooked which took more time to correct. Our server was friendly but clearly overwhelmed. Perhaps non-holiday dining is a better experience.
I've been there twice. Both times the food and service were excellent. Mondays and Tuesdays are a real bargain - buy one entrée, get one entrée free - just requires 1 bill and a beverage purchase (wine, coffee, etc.) Also, there was music on Tuesday night - a real plus.
Our party of four was unanimous in praise for the food: elk, shrimp pasta, short ribs, mussels, caesar salad. We were less enthusiastic about the service - the server was friendly but we waited forever to give our orders and beyond forever for the promised bread. There was live music that was a negative for us because it made conversation difficult.
Located in the Snowmass Club, the restaurant is warm and attractive but falls woefully short on service and quality of the food. Two expensive lamb shank orders presented tough meat when it should have been falling off the bone. The New York cheesecake was a small slice of flavorless goo atop a soggy crust for $9. Our server seemed well meaning but untrained, and did not know what varieties of ice cream or sorbet were available. Water was poured carelessly and without asking. We had to wait at least 15 minutes for dessert and coffee. There are many other choices in Snowmass, more conveniently located. We will not return to this one.
Had dinner with family and friends at Sage the other night and it was fantastic. After reading some earlier reviews I was a bit reluctant but had heard they have a new Chef and were featuring a varied menu. From the Tuna Lettuce Cups to the Elk Tenderloin and Curry Quinoa every course was timely, presented well and tasted great. If you haven't tried Sage recently, give it a try you won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back.
Really disappointing. We were looking forward to eating here - we live right around the corner. We ordered bison tenderloin, it came out dry, overcooked, and was missing the foie gras sauce it said it came with on the menu. When the waitress came back to ask us how our meal was, we politely highlighted our concerns and she basically didn't care. No offer to rectify or to comp us even a glass of wine off our tab. All 3 of us had the bison so it was an expensive dinner - on the basis of this experience, we will never go back to Sage or recommend it, unfortunately.
We tried this restaurant at the last minute. The Service started off well, but then fell off quickly. This restaurant has two prices, members and non-members. The non-member price was very high for the overall quality of service and food.
There are better options in the Snowmass/Aspen area.
My husband and I had dinner at Sage and it was absolutely fantastic! The Calamari that Matt, my server, recommended held up to his high reviews. The cold smoked Ribeye entrée was so delicious and flavorful. My husband had the Salmon, leaving no trace left on his plate. If you are looking for a great meal in Snowmass , I highly suggest the SAGE!
Four of us enjoyed a wonderful evening at Sage recently. The ambiance was warm and comfortable. Our server Randall was attentive but not overly so. The home made bread was a welcomed starter to our entrees which were eye appealing and tasted even better. I would recommend the salmon or in-house made cannelloni dishes and look forward to returning soon!
Sage Restaurant is an impressive and beautiful restaurant but unfortunately both the service and the food quality were sub-par. The food took more than an hour to show up, and when it did, it was overcooked...likely because it had been sitting under heat warming lamps in the kitchen. For example, the medium rare filet mignon came out well done, the fries were overly salted and the chicken wings were doused in so much sauce. We had to repeatedly ask when the food was arriving, and flag down wait staff for bread. Of course, that whole dining experience for a party of 4 (two adults, two teenagers) cost more than $250.
I made a reservation through Open Table for this restaurant over a week prior to our visit to Snowmass and we were excited to visit. When our party of 6 arrived at the restaurant, we were informed that they were busy and did not have our reservation, even though I showed two different employees the confirmation email on my phone. Although I don't think they really wanted to, they set up a table for our small group in an unused, back room and we were glad to be seated. Unfortunately the back room must have been somewhat "out of sight and therefore out of mind" because our server failed miserably to keep up with good service at our table. In her defense, the restaurant was somewhat busy and I got the impression that we were simply assigned to her along with her other tables in the main dining room and it must have over-burdened her. The lack of good service overshadowed the mediocre food and all in our party were quite disappointed.
I have never had such a wonderful waitress! Lisa made us feel welcomed and her service was great! Jamey the manager seated us promptly when our reservation was confirmed! Chef Adam made an amazing cannelloni, fried chicken, and crab cakes! I will definitely be returning and recommending Sage to everyone I send to use my home in Snowmass.
This restaurant is beautifully situated at the Snowmass Club in Snowmass Village, Colorado.
It would be hard to find a prettier patio dining spot in the area.
Too bad nothing else matches up.
The service was remarkably poor, the expensive food ranged from ok to overdone, with a side of disappointing.
The 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill to cover our large group, 7 adults with 2 toddlers, made for an indigestible dessert.
The area has many fine restaurants: look elsewhere!
A new menu. Suggestion for exceptional customer service. Wait staff needs to know the menu, cuts of meet and what the words mean. The chef should beta test on the staff and not the paying audience. "Rubbed" steaks should have some flavor. Toast with pate' should not be singed. The salt shaker should be used with discretion on some foods and added for flavor in others. Mushrooms should not be rubber and bland.
All in all, hopefully the food will get better. The attention and care of the staff do not have to.
We had a very enjoyable meal at Sage a few days ago. The food was excellent - one of the better dinners we've had in Snowmass.
The service wasn't quite where it should be (red wine poured into the glass that still contained a drop or 2 of the previous white wine), but everyone was friendly and pleasant & overall we had a lovely evening.
