Wonderful experience. Great service (which included a server-in-training). Willing to give suggestions and knowledgeable. When there was a question the staff did not know, a personal phone call to the Chef was made to find the exact answer. Also, very impressed with a Signature Cocktail...unexpectedly devine!
Our second dinner at Saffron was great: the menu, divided into appetizers, small plates, and entrees, enabled us to sample multiple dishes without destroying our appetites. The cuisine is Middle Eastern, but the seasonings and combinations of ingredients were very creative without being strange. The white anchovies with harissa and fresh radishes just livened up our taste buds; our cheesecake dessert, made with goat cheese and served with a tropical fruit "soup" (read "puree") was very sophisticated and refreshing without being overly heavy like most cheesecakes. The hip ambiance is a nice change from the usual look of an ethnic diner, and the service was very sweet and attentive. A very nice dining destination in downtown Minneapolis!
Food was outstanding, service was fabulous without being in your face. we will be back.
The food was amazing and so tasty. I had the duck which was beautifully prepared. The dishes are accompanied by really different and tasty surprises. The staff was fabulous. Can't wait to go back and try something else.
This restaurant is all about presentation and taste at a great price/value.
Our biggest problem was deciding which course we enjoyed the most! I will definitely be coming back!
The food was outstanding!!! Never judge a book by it's cover :) This restaurant has no curb appeal, but you will be wowed by the dishes!
Best Hummus we've had in a long time. Great flavor profiles. Excellent service.
We enjoyed this restaurants and all the unique flavors that were offered on the menu. We especially liked the salmon with the ragout sauce. It was delicious. We also enjoyed trying the small bite appetizers, and especially enjoyed the meatballs and cauliflower. We came to the restaurant with our three kids (7, 9, and 11) and they all liked the food too, although they would have liked just a little bit larger portions (the small bits appetizers came in groups of 4 and we are a family of 5). Finally, we arrived a little late and had to eat quickly as we had symphony tickets. Our server was very accomodating and made sure our food came out quickly and hot...she was fantastic. I really liked the ambience and openness of the space too.
Terrific meal (we had the scallops and the salmon). Service was impeccable. I'll definitely be coming back.
I had been wanting to try Saffron ever since it opened, but hadn't made it until now. Dang! Why did I wait?! Outstanding, aromatic, delicious, exotic -- a thrilling culinary experience. Highly recommended.
The steak and duck were excellent for dinner. The mussels are wonderful. It was our 2nd time to the restaurant and it was great.
Food was very good. Lots of small dishes to share with everybody. Service was very good. Nice Mediteranian flavoring in many of the dishes
What a Great Dinner and Dining Experience. For a couple who usually finds a comfort zone in American Cuisine, this a good find for going outside the box and trying something new, different and delicious - Highly recommend the Duck and Lamb Entrees, and Bottle of Faust!!
Lots of great unique foods with great spicing. Service was quick and attentive. The crowds really picked up after 7, so make sure you get a reservation, or plan on an earlier dinner for a more quiet time.
I took my fiance out to Saffron for her birthday, the food and service were excellent. The staff went out of their way to please us. Printing out special menus that said happy birthday in Spanish (my fiance is from Colombia). They also had a waiter who spoke fluent Spanish come over and help my fiance with her choices even though he was not our primary waiter. The food was fantastic plus my fiance is a vegetarian and I love meat but they had plenty of choices for both of us. I have already highly recommended Saffron to my friends and family. The only thing to note is that it is a little loud from all the patrons, it was not a problem for us but I know some people prefer a quieter experience.
The food and service in this restaurant is outstanding! We ordered many small plates, as well as entrees, because there were so many interesting dishes to try. Nothing disappointed us. This is the kind of restaurant we need more of in the Twin Cities, as there is so much of the usual boring fare here.
We were very impressed with Saffron all around.
very interesting and different menu
we had a terrific waiter and a fabulous evening
This was an excellent choice for a birthday celebration. They even personallized the menu.
Relaxing, excellent service and the food was outstanding.
I would recommend highly for any romantic- special dinner and will go again!!
We LOVED Saffron. The wait staff was extremely helpful and we had a great waiter that not only knew the menu but also had sampled the wines. The food was DELICIOUS!! We had several "bite" size apps, several regular apps and several entrees. The foie gras was so good, we had a second order! Definitely a great spot for downtown dining.
The entrees were wonderful, but the appetizers and dessert were without a doubt some of the best cuisine I have ever had. I would recommend to even my most pretentious foodie friends. A must try. Note, the prices are not cheap.
Great food. They sat us 45 minutes late but gave us free appetizers at the bar.
Our dining experience was amazing. First of all we arrived, our table wasn't ready yet. So we sat in the lounge area to have a drink. We were in no hurry. As we are waiting, the owner introduced hisself and told us that it would be a while with our table, and told us our drinks were on the house. Which made us feel like this is worth the wait. The restuarant knew that it was our anniversary. The personalized our menu and had the chef sign it as well. Food was scrumptuous. Our taste buds were going crazy. Excellent flavor. Definitely will go back and visit.
One of our guests has difficulty hearing. I made a request when I made the reservation on OpenTable and was pleased that an effort was made to accommodate without embarrassing our guest. This is particularly true because the restaurant is quite noisy.
Love the small plates, entree so so for the price.
The duck breast entre was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The humus was also fantastic. This is a great restaurant that deserves our patronage. The staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming. We loved our meals and will be back!
We both got the tasting menu. The food was delicious. The chef even stopped by at the end of the dinner to inquire about the meal. I didn't know that he was on Iron Chef... I would definetely recommend this place!
The tasting menu was delicious. Every bit of food had great flavor. The wine pairings really enhanced the meal.
The Salmon and Clam Tangine was not good. Fishy, soft and the other flavors were very mild. Could not compete with the fishy effect. Apparently it is "most indicative of the chef's blend of flavors." Does not bode well for the other dishes.
But my guests very much liked their duck and beef dishes.
A very nice establishment, very friendly host and wait staff. We enjoyed our experience, however, the food itself was not up to expectations. The presentation and "idea" behind each of the concepts seemed spot-on, but the proof is in the taste/texture. We as a group of four, found it lacking. May try again just to be sure, but will probably stick with 112 and other nearby establishments for the time being.
Food was very good and we'd definitely go again. Seems like a slightly new flavor.
Saffron is a must go. The food was incredible. The small plates give you a taste of all the amazing flavor combinations that are possible at this restaurant, like the fried califlower to dip in sheep milk fondue, or the roasted to perfection baba ganoush. It was a great idea to have a salad before the entree because the beet salad (red and golden) with honey and goat cheese was perfect. The restaurant has a changing vegetarian option, which as a vegetarian, is appreciated. We had a delicious roasted vegetable and potato gratin, with eggplant, brussel sprouts, squash, and more, topped with a browned feta. Dessert was a spiritual experience; do not skip dessert. The cocktails were creative and delicious. Saffron was a delight.
Seating was prompt for reserved table. Food was beyond excellent. Service was well paced between courses. Water was refilled appropriately. I will most certainly go back. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This was a very pleasant experience. We chose the chef's tasting menu which, if we compared it with other chef's tasting menu's at other restaurants, could have used one more small course. Pricing for the 3 course tasting menu was appropriate and that was nice. The wine pairings with the food were appropriate, but not overly thought provoking. We would go to this restaurant again.
thanks for an excellent dining experience, the food was spectacular
Everything was absolutely outstanding
Our vist was an extra treat due to the new fixed price tasting menu. Don't skimp on the small plate options for your table. They represent the talent in the kitchen very well.
Service was really nice - we neglected to bring quarters or cash for meters, and they provided quarters for us. Nice ambiance, nice food. We'll return.
Dining at Saffron is always an exceptional experience. Days after the fact, I'm still thinking about the marvelous flavor combinations. The perfect portion sizes make it possible to try a number of things without feeling overindulged.
