The lamb was out of this world good, and I am not even a lamb lover. Ordered it at the suggestion of our server, Joseph - who was excellent and knowledgeable and shared it with my dinner companion along with the watermelon salad - very fresh and light, and the gnocci.
I thought the Gnocchi was outstanding. My wife was so-so on the duck Kefta. Also tried the olives & pickles (very good) and beef kubbeh (ok). Excellent service and nice, upscale atmosphere.
A fantastic meal! Saffron is one of our favorite spots and always delivers. Thank you for another marvelous evening!
Awesome spot. Great for out of town guests! Thanks for having us.
The ambiance was very cozy, and quiet, for a downtown restaurant. The food was tasteful and service prompt. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions as you can actually have conversations and hear each other.
Pricey but delicious! Portions are small and sides are extra. Drinks were more expensive than norm.
We love Saffron. The tagines are always outstanding. The seafood tagine was especially good this trip. The broth was multilayered and just the right consistency for a summer dish. The service is always great and on this weekday evening, the noise level was quiet. We're getting to be regulars. You wont be disappointed!
My wife has multiple food allergies, so we have to careful where we dine out. Our server (Samantha), was outstanding about going over the menu, checking with the kitchen as to what was safe, and also how dishes could be made "safe". Our meals were flavorful and allergen free; and the service was outstanding. This was our first visit to Saffron, and we will be going back soon, as it is now on our "safe" list.
Food A- Ambiance C+. We were hoping for a romantic setting and Moroccon/Mediterranean theme. It seemed like a loud modern restaurant with cool Moroccon light fixtures. Average furniture and finishes. Ceiling appeared to be caked with dust. We had selection of six tapas and salads. Very tasty and unusual. The bill was reasonable for the food quality but not for the average/mediocre atmosphere. The entrees sounded good, but we steered clear because of their hefty price tag ($32 for lamb tangine, 35+ for steak and seafood choices). The service was excellent. We chose dessert elsewhere, to find somewhere more romantic.
In my opinion, if they invested in some better chairs, banquets, curtains, pillows, and sound-proofing, this could be an amazing experience.
We celebrated our 35th anniversary at Saffron on August 26th and from start to finish, it was a wonderfully memorable experience. Our server Molly was superb and our meal was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
The server was very informative. The busser was always there filling our water and clearing plates and he was so polite every time he removed something. I could tell the staff worked together.
The food was amazing and I am very happy I was able to experience Saffron. :)
The place was freezing and fan blowing air but they could not control the temperature
The food was good - no question. The service was much less so. The main courses arrived more than an hour after placing orders, one and half hours from sitting down. When the entrees finally arrived, we found that the waiter had not gotten the order correct, and did not bring the ordered entrée for my spouse but a small appetizer instead (wouldn't someone have asked a questions about this?). Unfortunate, since she had chosen this restaurant for her birthday celebration.
great food; very much like the spices, very inventive cuisine. We enjoyed it veyr much and plan to go back.
Everything was good
Saffron has a one of a kind menu. The servers are knowledgable, friendly and prompt. Two thumbs up!
Highly intelligent, ambitious, cutting-edge contemporary middle eastern cuisine. Easily makes Twin Cities' top five list.
Saffron will be missed. The fried cauliflower and Mediterranean chicken were delightful.
The whole experience was great -- greeted promptly, server was attentive and knowledgeable, food was fantastic, and it is always a great value.
Excellent service, delicious food and cocktails. Lovely atmosphere. Overall experience was terrific!
Best overall dining experience in months!!
This was my second visit and I was once again impressed with the incredible food, friendly and efficient (but not overbearing) service, and great ambiance. Our group of four shared several small plates--loved the figs, trio of spreads, and cauliflower. All our main dishes, including chicken, a lamb tagine, and gnocchi, were delicious, interesting, and attractively presented. Great for adventurous eaters!
What a charming place, however the music was extremely loud. The food was eclectic and fun, but the music was overwhelming. Our waitress was wonderful, very knowledgeable about the food and she really helped us determine what to try. She made it fun!
We ordered seven small plates to share. Each item was intense with many different flavors. We savored every bite. Definitely great for foodies! Our wait person was superb, timing the small plates so as to not overwhelm us. If Colleen, our wonderful wait person, is in, you will be very well taken care of!
Great food with interesting flavors. Really loved the uniqueness of the dessert, Kanufa I think it was called. Nice decor and comfortable.
This is a great place for group dinning, very accommodating!
Wonderful food; lots of imagination and work are evident behind each of the dishes; it was a very nice surprise. Our waiter was a bit stretched and therefore we were a bit neglected at times, but he was knowledgeable, funny, and great otherwise. I was very impressed overall!
Food was awesome - Fried cauliflower was exceptional. Roast Chicken (and eggplant) and my Eye of the Tiger were also standouts. Would definitely go back. Service excellent as well.
Always an excellent experience!
We came for Restaurant Week and I was very disappointed to find that this restaurant is not very gluten-free-friendly at all! I was ultimately told I had to use the normal menu, which overall had a lot of bread and wheat items as well... Very disappointing. Beyond that, though, what I DID have I liked a lot and I know my boyfriend, who does not need to eat gluten free, loved everything he had! Overall, the atmosphere is awesome, the flavor a are unique, and the service was wonderful.
Despite the outstanding service, Saffron's food and atmosphere fails to stand out in the dense restaurant scene of Minneapolis.
Once again it was an incredible meal! From the service to the food to the wine - everything was fantastic!
The lamb was one of the best dishes I've ever had.
Great gnocchi and steak....also very good cocktails
We went on a double dates on Saturday. Food, drink and service were awesome. We've been there about three times now n each time is always a great time.
Wonderful meal with incredible food! We will definitely be back!
So yummy! We had the seafood tagine. The fish was perfectly cooked and the broth so flavorful, with just right amount of spice. The veggies were fresh and cooked just right. The dishes are meant to be shared. My husband and I shared a salad and a main dish and that was just the right amount of food. I tried one of their several non-alcoholic cocktails and it was delicious. My only constructive criticism would be to turn down the air conditioning and forego the use of plastic straws, which create so much unnecessary waste. Thank you for two wonderful meals (we came back the next day and bought the cookbook!).
Great food great service! Green beans are a must!!!
Celebrating my sisters birthday we found Saffron to be a wonderful experience. Staff were courteous and helpful. Food was delicious - everything we tried was excellent. Especially liked the Slow Cooked green beans, yogurt/cucumber/pistachio/cherry salad, roasted chicken and potato side dish. Desserts were good but sort of busy - not up to the quality of the rest of the meal.
We always have a great meal, and the service is exceptional.
