after my first time at Saffron i highly recommend this spot and will be coming back again. we had great service. both the server and the manager (i presume) did a great job of checking in on us, making sure we didn't need anything else, kept water glasses full, etc. food was excellent, as well as, fresh. i understand that they have a lunch buffet and i will definitely make it a point of checking that out in the future.
Great manager and staff made us feel welcome and attended. Loved that there was no corking fee and we could bring our own wine.
Loved it!! Best Indian I’ve had in Austin. Not a “fancy” restaraunt but the food was outstanding and the service was great. You can bring your own wine!
We were really pleasantly surprised with the quality & ambiance given it is in a strip mall. The food was extremely well prepared. We will definitely be back.
Excellent food all around. Absolutely nothing was out of place or wrong.
Great food, but clearly understaffed. I would return, but only for the food, not the ambiance, service, or experience.
Great food and service!!!
One of the best kept secrets in Austin. Great Indian Nepalese food. Wonderful service. BYOB.
Have been going to this restaurant since it opened. The food is always outstanding. This particular event on Valentine’s Day was not what we usually experienced. Our waitress was challenged beyond her ability. They have opened a second location and the staff has been moved around to accommodate the new location. I discussed this with the manager Neal and he explained the reasons. Will always go back mainly for two reasons the food and Neal. Hopeful Neal will read this and make the adjustments. He is the reason the place does so well. Highly recommend.
We went for Valentine's day and had a wonderful experience. The staff was attentive and helpful. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good Indian cuisine.
Very good Indian food. I’m particularly fond of their gobi Manchuria!
Signed up for reservation but they didn’t honor it. Poor showing by this former favorite restaurant. Thumbs down and no plans to visit again.
Saffron has a very warm and friendly wait staff. Food was delicious. BYOB worked out wonderfully. Came in with a group of 9 on a Friday night and they handle it very well. Overall we were very impressed with this locally owned restaurant. Thank YOU
I am a curry aficionado and this is arguably the best curry I have had in Austin. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating. I will be going back again for sure.
Best Indian food in town. The flavors were incredible and our party had people with different dietary issues--Keto, Keto vegetarian, vegetarian and we all ate well and enjoyed every morsel!
Saffron was recommended by a friend and it delivered. Excellent food at an amazing value price. They even permit wine to be brought in at no charge. Will definitely go back.
My 1st ever Indian food and it was delicious ! I had the Tika Masala MILD as the food can be spicy; plenty of food for a very reasonable price; this is a no frills diner type atmosphere and a BYOB so bring in your own wine, beer, whatever and an opener; they have glasses but not always so maybe bring wine glasses too; the food and wait staff are great!
Excellent Food and friendly service. Don’t sell alcohol but you can bring your own.
Food is authentic and delicious and the waiters are incredibly friendly and helpful.
Excellent food and service. Will be back and will recommend to friends
Absolutely amazing food and service. A true gem! Incredible Naan, and the Tikka Masala and Goat Curry were both quite good.
Delicious food. Very attentive servers. Interesting menu with selections I’d not seen before. Quiet, clean and friendly restaurant
Consistently great food and friendly service.
This was my second trip to this restaurant. Our family gathered to celebrate a birthday. Sunday lunch buffet held excellent choices for all, vegetarians and meat eaters. Tandoori chicken was moist and tasty. Mango lassi was heavenly. Paneer delicious. Looking forward to next visit!
We've been here several times with friends and family. Very good Indian/Nepalese fusion. This last visit we had minor problem with an appetizer we ordered - we didn't get it. We had plenty of other excellent food, so it wasn't missed, but it did stretch out the meal. We were not charged for the item. It was a busy Friday night, so it was somewhat understandable. Service otherwise was outstanding. The manager, who seems to always make it around to check with patrons several times during a visit, was very apologetic. We will definitely be back.
This restaurant is another "strip mall" find for us. Austin has a lot of these little gems that serve fantastic food but the ambiance might not be as fancy as you might expect in a stand-alone location. Our food was extremely good, though. We had the saffron scallops for an appetizer, which were small but buttery textured. The best part was the sauce they were served in, which we used as a dipping sauce for our rosemary-cheese naan bread. The bread was perfect, some of the best we've had and they had several other types. My wife had the Murg Shahi Korma and I had the Saffron Chicken Lazeez, both of which were some of the best Indian food we've had anywhere. They don't serve alcohol but they allow and encourage you to bring your own, which we did and enjoyed a great bottle of wine with our dinner for 1/4 the price that most restaurants would charge. We will go back the next time we are in the mood for Indian food.
Excellent food with great value. You can mix Northern Indian with Southern Indian, and Nepalese dishes. The staff are friendly and offer suggestions. Not a fancy restaurant, but fabulous food.
Saffron is a clean and casual restaurant that serves high quality North Indian and Nepalese food. I found the saffron goat curry and the chana masala to be particularly flavorful. I also have to a lot of credit to the wait staff. They took pride in their restaurant and it showed; they were very attentive and hard-working.
Food was excellent however service was slow. Will try again sometime.
I remember going here once years ago and feeling right at ease because it was so low key. I love Indian food; it might, in fact, be my favorite cuisine, after Japanese, Turkish, and French. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet place to eat alone, with friends -- or on a date, if you just want something unpretentious with tasty food, good service, and a place to have a quiet conversation. I'm reminded of "My Dinner with Andre" when I think of a place like this, even though it was quite upper crust. It had a similar ambiance. I suppose I like both sorts of places. Anyway, shout out to everyone at Saffron. It's been a while but I'll definitely be returning :)
Excellent food, wonderful service. BYO wine.
Not sure why I need to write a review that is more than 50 words.
Always great food! Best Indian cuisine in North Austin. Was very noisy though. A few screaming kids and ambivalent parents. Not the fault of Saffron though.
They were packed but still managed to serve great food and be friendly!
Our visit was pleasant. The buffet provided a good selection of items, including a goat meat dish which I enjoyed. Both of the salads were also good.
Excellent food and great service. I like that there are vegetarian options. The only issue for me is that I'd like to have some dishes that are low in oil due to health issues. Otherwise, it's my favorite neighborhood restaurant.
There aren’t many good Indian food options in Austin. I took my wife and we had an excellent dinner.
We really enjoyed the food and experience. We didn’t try the buffet but instead ordered off the menu. The appetizers were delicious as well as the entree’s. It is BYOB so that is an added plus. One of our guest lives in Nepal and was very pleased with her vegetarian selection. I’d say that is a big compliment.
The food here is amazing! Who knew that cauliflower could taste so good! Great staff to help you with your questions and excellent service.
Great food and attentive service. We all had something different and each was tasty.
