A lovely cute place, the dips stand out here, as I am a vegetarian this place tops for a vegetarian vegan options, had the gluten free Latkes and the appetizer trio meza entree which has: Moroccan carrot dip, organic beet root & pomegranate red pepper walnut dip, just excellent, service was fast & waitress was friendly enough and patient answering all questions, if you are not an alcohol drinker like me then try the freshly brewed mint lemonade.
If you are into a healthy meal or you prefer quality ingredients this is the place, it should be top on your list, no fuss, casual, seems to me a family owned as staff laid back, joke with you without putting an act or being robotic, which you don't find in a chain places.
They offer many delicious appetizers, the walnut beet dip and the pomegranate red pepper dip are both awesome, l would suggest ordering kind of tapas, different little plate so you get a chance to try as many apps as possible, don't miss on their fresh juices, the housemate mint lemonade or the pomegranate spritzer, the latter is my favorite.
The food is absolutely amazing, this place will be definitely my destination when am in the bay area, the salmon and the steak were delicious, reasonably priced too for San Francisco.
Excellent food, beautiful interior, nice ambiance, very good service and very accommodating to several food allergies/preferences. A favorite delicious and a neighborhood gem. The lamb steak and wild grilled Salmon are out of this world. highly recommend.
Food was terrific. Restaurant was staffed by only one person. For all duties. Someone on the waitstaff other than the cook would be a good idea. Also, most focus seemed to be on delivery orders and not on our table of live humans. That was a little disappointing. Falafel and lamb were amazing so I'll happily return and see if it was just an off night. For now, I would recommend this place only for to go or delivery.
Very crunchy and tasty falafel!!!
Nice Turkish place, I came here on an advice friend who said that it is one of her favorite restaurant in San Francisco. We were still pleasantly surprised by the relaxed, informal tone of the decor and the staff.
There is nothing fussy or stiff here.
Food was original full of favor, there is a Moroccan accent to many of the dishes, in the spicing if not in the ingredients.
The service was perfect for my taste, attentive, friendly, comfortable, and exquisite, many dips and spreads, beets crunchy walnut & pomegranate walnut red pepper dips are both top notch.
Server I believe Elena, she was patient with us she explained a lot about the food and made recommendations, but would leave us alone to enjoy the whole experience. Perfect.
What a treat! I took a group for lunch here after a volunteer event and we had a blast. The food was very fresh, delicately spiced with generous servings, you could tell they use good ingredients, the menu suited a broad range of taste preferences, dietary styles. The service was quite quick. The wait staff were friendly and helpful - one of our group had a disability that needed special accommodation that was graciously taken care of without asking. There were cushy pillows on the end lining the wall, , music add to the ambience. We had such a good time that we sat and chatted after the meal without feeling hustled to leave. Definitely worthy of many repeat visits. My only regret was not sampling the desserts.
I will rated one of the best mediterranean Turkish in the bay area even it is in an odd location, they bake the Zaater bread and desserts in the house, wide menu with variety of dishes and side dishes, unique place they care about details, normal tables and low ottoman tables with floor silk pillows and sappy baklavas.
At Saffron, even the coffee cups are real, Now that's a treat!
It is a must to try this place.
We enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere very much. Very true to its tradition and quite cozy.
The handmade Zaaater bread was fresh within minutes from the oven. Made right in front of your eyes. The baklava was just amazing, you choose from 2 types, both light and crusty, and just the right amount of sweetness. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
Some of the best ethnic food can be found in the San Francisco and Saffron 685 ranks ,in my book, as one of the best places for Turkish Mediterranean food in all of San Francisco bay area.
The BBQ organic beef are hot flaky and mouthwatering, entree is big enough to split two ways. I tend to stick with Kebab, which is a spiced lamb kebab with saffron rice and salad, but I haven't had anything I didn't like. Turkish coffee and sweet syrupy flaky baklava always end my meal.
I have been in this place many time to eat and eat I just can not stop eating. amazing waitstaff, beautiful personal service.
The chef is one of the most kind generous man with sweetness, always with a hat on the head,
lol just try this place yourself and spare a space for the Konafa dessert.
This restaurant is an authentic Turkish gourmet. Food and service is spot on. Wait staff was attentive, food was very good, super fresh with good ingredients. I just thought it was more on the pricey side, but it is SOMA and that's San Francisco, so maybe it's not... It's tucked in between stores in a strip mall type of building, easy to miss... but worth a try. Good food, good service... If you're in the mood, try it.
This is one of the more authentic Turkish restaurants in SOMA. It features a wide assortment of Turkish Mediterranean dips and mazes including not limited red pepper pome dip with walnuts, spicy green pepper dip and organic beet walnut dip, the latter is my favorite.
The soup is the perfect dish for a chill winter night. My first choice will be the roasted red bell w/ grilled eggplant because it is like two meals to me. When it arrives to the table to slowly enjoy.
The grilled wild Salmon and Manaesh Zaater plates are one of the best I've ever had.
parking is bad due to all tech companies in the area, however I noticed most restaurants near by don't get busy for dinner! I don't mind as long as the food that good.
Saffron 685 has been one of those places that I walk by frequency but never made the time to try it. Family owned authentic Turkish restaurant, once you try it & quickly it'll be your casual upscale getaway dining spot. A friendly atmosphere with friendly waitstaff, great wines list and of course many delicious plates will put Saffron on your San Francisco Mission map.
