Safari Room Restaurant
We love the Safari Room!
Lunch on our Anniversary. View was wonderful. Food was excellent. Thank you!
Our New Year's Eve dinner was fantastic. The cheese board was such a nice addition. Everything from appetizers to entrees to desserts were perfection. And a champagne toast! Couldn't have been better. We are definitely going back. Thank you, Safari Room, for a great evening.
Disappointed with the Scampi. Not the same as my last visit.
Very helpful with my gluten free needs and will accommodate, very pretty restuarant, food is always so great and great service
Our waitress was excellent and the view outstanding. The meal was great
We were there for restaurant week and it was excellent. Great food and great service. The view is outstanding! We enjoyed a delightful lunch and will definitely be back soon.
Our worst experience during Newport Restaurant week. We were so disappointed! Wedding next door to dining room, blasting club DJ music . The restaurant was old with tacky thatched roofs. Not even close to what they show on Line. On line it looked so sheek. Food and service were good. I ordered an unsweetened ice tea and they bought me a Snapple. Bathroom was a mess from the wedding party. Staff should have been maintaining that. Never again!
Delicious and satisfying restaurant week menu - unexpected, but ended up being a welcomed great value. Highly recommend!
Great place for lunch. Service and food were excellent. The view is incredible. Will definitely return.
Excellent meal. It was too cold to eat outside and the inside room ld really use a makeover.
Our lunch during Restaurant Week was very nice. Nice menu choices and excellent service made for a wonderful afternoon. I loved the barbecued pork belly and my friend from Connecticut said her salmon was delicious. It was our first visit to the Safari Room and it won’t be our last!
Had a lovely lunch with family mid week. The service was exceptional, the surroundings lovely and the water view was certainly nice to have. The salmon dish was done well and the stuffed quahog and sauce were yummy. Can’t wait to return!
Everything I had was delicious, but my husband said his swordfish was over cooked and dry!
I had a date night with my husband and son. We enjoyed the sunset.
Will definitely go back again
This restaurant is a great place to dine on a special occasion the food choices are good and the ambiance is memorable. The ocean views are beautiful and simply breathtaking.
We were there for Restaurant Week and it was a great way to try the restaurant. All 3 courses were fabulous!! Will definitely be back in the warmer weather when we are able to enjoy the fabulous view and sit on the deck.
This restaurant was just ok. The Filet was delicious, however, I would have preferred mashed over fingerling potatoes. We ordered wine, but it tasted very odd. My husband returned his, but I drank mine although I did not enjoy it. When the bill came, I realized the 9oz Reisling was $17!! Had I known, I would have returned mine as well.
This restaurant is very outdated. The decor looks like an old, worn out tiki bar from the 60's. The food is just OK. This place needs updating all around. Would not go back.
Best lobster bisque we've ever had. Great setting, great wine, a great way to celebrate our anniversary! BTW the scampi, seared scallops, and creme brulee were also divine. Happy customers!
Wonderful place for dinner. Great food, prices and service was perfect.
We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced.
They were seating 'outside' on the patio which was covered and mostly sided with clear plastic (it was late September). It was still a bit cool and a great view was marred by the aforementioned, but necessary, plastic. Nonetheless the food and service were both excellent and we would return when we are next in the area.
Wonderful venue, great food and staff!
Passing Bar Exam.
We had a view of the water out on the deck for our anniversary and it was stunning. It was a little bit busy near the stairs and there was a wedding reception going on, but it was fun to see the bride and guests passing by. The food was amazing and we had a wonderful champagne toast. We would absolutely go again!
Fun time with great people and service staff was exceptional!!!
I would tell people the atmosphere is 2nd to none, but watch out for the wait staff. Our waitress was the least engaging person on the planet. No smile, no energy, no enthusiasm, no conversation, etc. ARGH.
Friendly. Comfortable very stylish beautiful view of the water and sun set
As a local was looking for some place different to take our New York children!! Booked here and had the most amazing dinner and highly recommend the Safari Room as a great place for lunch, dinner or just drinks.
We had a great time; the atmosphere was perfect as was the sunset. Our waitress didn’t mention any specials so we orders apps, entrees and dessert off the menu. I then heard a neighboring table offered a special bread pudding for the evening. The dessert was meh (tuxedo cake) the cake layer was cold, hard and dry, but the mousse layer was ok.
The safari Room has lost its ambience . It was also very loud.
Everything was perfect! Gorgeous view and sunset! Can't wait to return!
The Safari Room is one of our favorite's in Newport, RI and is always such an incredible experience everything we go!
Loved it! Good food great spot great service will be coming back without a doubt
Unbeatable location. Great staff: bar, hostess, waitress.
Beautiful view, very quiet and somewhat subdued for Sunday brunch. Food was overpriced. We had steak and eggs ($30!) , and the steak was not the quality expected (tough) and undercooked. Management was good about taking care of us due to our dissatisfaction.
I was dropping my son off at college and we brought my mother along for the trip. We wanted a special dinner to commemorate the event while we visit in Newport Rhode Island. We chose the Safari based on prior reviews. The evening was nothing short of spectacular. The service, the ambience, the food the setting and the facility were fantastic. It was one of those nights where you didn’t want the evening to end.
It was just ok. I think brunch or lunch would be a lot better because the views are beautiful. Unfortunately we went at 8pm. The food was just ok, nothing to rave about. The calamari was good but cold. I saw the tray coming, the server put it down about 6 feet away from our table, took the cover off but then turned and went somewhere else. A few minutes later someone else walked up to it, looked at the slip and then brought it over. We also needed to ask for things like silverware, bread, etc. Our server was a very kind, pleasant girl but overall the experience was just ok.
