What Insiders Are Saying
Welcome to West Broadway Reform, Temple Of Hot Bagels.
I had read a review on Google that the restaurant was candle lit at night. I went there on a date on Saturday, 10-13-18, in the evening. All the lights were on and it was quite bright. I was really disappointed. They could have at least dimmed the lights. The matzo ball soup was really good. The triple decker sandwich was mediocre. I felt "meh" about my experience there.
Wouldn’t make my daughter a roast beef and bread sandwich even though we offered to pay the full price for the triple decker, hold the slaw, extra bread etc which goes for nearly 30 bucks. Chef didn’t want to ruin the integrity of his creation! Salami and eggs was smothered with French fried onions and was inedible even when you scraped it off. Salami was microscopic. Any deli can whip this up in 5 minutes and always tastes great. I could only stomach half of it and I never leave food. They added mustard to it but that wasn’t the problem. Took 1/2 hour to get Challah to start (which was really Texas Toast) and another 40 minutes to get eggs, salad (OK only) and sandwich (mediocre). There were only 20 folks in the restaurant. Never saw the waiter, I fantasized that he was just embarrassed. They comped my wife’s Waldorf salad as she wanted the trout and after being there 40 minutes they told us they were out and at that point we just wanted whatever they could make quickly. Bill was still $100 bucks plus , no alcohol, with the comp! Don’t mind paying up for good food but this entire experience was awful. Place was cute, maybe the chef had a stroke, I don’t know. Trekked halfway across the city as it got 4.8 stars. If they would have apologized for whatever was going on we would have probably been OK with it but I can’t believe this represents the stellar reviews. I’m easy to please m
This restaurant is so beautiful (and so are the people) and food is delicious. However, I get the feeling the employees take the crowds for granted and don’t really give you that great of service. We waited a really long time for our food, and were never checked on. It’s also super crowded so you get bumped into a lot. I would still go back for the food though!
Our waitress Heather was a Natalie Portman twin and super attenative.
Hostess and waiters were amazing. So accommodating and kid friendly.
Best place I’ve been to in all of New York
I would recommend this to anyone who isnt near a bagel store and can't just go in to buy a bagel with cream cheese and lox for a third of the price. The lox was very fresh and good. The whitefish was very salty and we left it all. We told the waitress but she didn't seem to care and didn't acknowledge us. The service was also poor. We would receive food but no plates and utensils. We asked and had to wait for 5 minutes while the food was on the table getting cold. The french toast was very good and i would recommend it.
Excellent brunch. We were visiting from the UK and had a fantastic time. Would highly recommend the signature bagels and the French toast. The staff were lovely and friendly and the service faultless.
Superb. That place was really nice. Me and my excoworker had a good catch up time at there.
Found hair in my food and then in my second meal I found a stick from a grape bunch which I was told was thyme.. disappointed and am not coming back. They used to be great!
A New York City staple . We always have our Sadelle’s breakfast when we travel to the city . There is nothing like it ,from the bagels to the Scottish salmon to the potatoes . There is lot one thing on the menu that is not exceptional. We love it !
Great breakfast/ brunch ! We don’t miss it any time we head to New York
Food was very good and service was too. The tables are tiny and arent really sufficient for the food. It was expensive 100 for 2 people with no cocktails.
Best bagel and lox in the whole city! Must try!
Mega geiles Frühstück welches zwar nicht günstig ist aber wirklich Besonders ist!!
Excellent food, superb service. Tables are somewhat narrow which makes you sit pretty close to your neighboring tables, which if loud makes it hard to run a conversation. Good is very good, though very pricey, breakfast for 2 might end up over 100$ easily.
We loved Sadelle’s. The presentation of the food was great. The lox and tuna were delicious as were the bagels. Our server was attentive friendly and efficient.
Great food! Best bagel spot in nyc
Made reservation on open table. Seated immediately. Great service. Great food. Fun atmosphere
All was very good. Chicken soup was way too salty, thoug
Service was very slow and it was extremely
Disappointed in the fish tower. The overwhelming amount of chives & tomatoes was just too much . And the whitefish salad and kippor salad also disappointing. I hate to write a bad review but so surprised. Another table ordered a salad and it looked amazing!!! Cinnamon buns were ok but nothing spectacular.
Easily one of my favorite NYC places. The food is EXCELLENT and the ambiance is so pretty! I love the Le Creuset dishes. The cinnamon rolls are life changing (and I normally don’t like cinnamon rolls. I really can’t say enough about this place. I want to go back ASAP!
We compared this to similar place in the Bowery. We were looking for a good smoked fish and bagel place for Sunday breakfast. Open Table made reservation easy. Short walk from our hotel on Varick St. Our new go-to Lox and Bagel place exery NYC visit.
Very long wait even with a reservation. Clearly valued seating regulars or snobby customers rather than other customers.
We love sadelles!! Always have a great time and food is delicious!
Best french toast on the planet hands down! The Lobster Eggs Benedict too was just delightful.
Absolutely fantastic. We knew going in that the dishes are pricey ($15 for pigs in a blanket, who buys this??) so the price per portion didn't shock us. That said, the food was FANTASTIC, and service was impeccable. Very good coffee, too.
We ordered the:
* Egg sandwich (regular, not the 'healthy' one) - expensive for $18 but soooo worth it. This was actually the main reason we wanted to come, having heard great things. They don't skimp on the bacon, and it is filling.
* Cheese blintzes - boyfriend insisted we order this after seeing it arrive at the table next to ours. I believe it was $17, expensive considering you only get 3 small (~4 inch long) blintzes, but he said they were the best he has ever tasted. Tender wrapping, creamy not-too-sweet filling, and a nice bright blueberry compote on the side.
* Salt and pepper bagel with cream cheese - I had heard great things about this take on the boring salt bagel, and wasn't disappointed. Bagel texture was very good, and the heavy hand of black pepper inside was really something. It's a small bagel, but for $3, worth every cent.
Food was amazing.
Bloody Mary was the best I have ever had.
Service was perfect!
Best brunch in the city.
Came here for tomato soup and everything bagel grilled cheese. Waiter told us they no longer serve tomato soup even though it is still on their menu online and in the restaurant and have switched it to tomato gazpacho. Then they had no more everything bagels so we had to get a different bagel for the grilled cheese. That is understandable. What's not understandable is that the grilled cheese came out with not melted cheese. Like it was melted and then say there and got cold again. The only thing worse than non melted cheese on a grilled cheese is resolidified melted cheese. We went from really looking forward to this page for a hot tomato soup and grilled cheese to boot being able to enjoy any of it. Water, Grilled Cheese, Cheeseburger, Coleslaw and Salad: $106. Overpriced is only ok when you can justify the prices, this was not. Still left a $20 tip because the waiter doesnt deserve to be punished for the back of the house issues.
multiple visits here—both lunch and dinner -and never disappointed.
The food is great! We came at 11:00 there was no school till 12:00... Which made it very hot....too hot...
The restaurant should activate the account in mornings too in such hot days...
Didn’t get the order right
Delicious food, accommodating staff. Great dining experience.
amazing restaurant in new york dfdgdsfgfdgfdgfdgfdgfdg
Sadelle's French Toast is my all time favorite meal. I travel to NYC once a year (this time to get married) and this was our second time at Sadelle's. Can't wait to come back next year. Order the French toast and the salmon with an everything bagel.
An elegant way to serve the old fashion deli fish!!!
We had a great meal for breakfast. The only negative we could say is that one of us ordered ice tea and when they asked the person if they wanted more that person said yes not knowing he was being charged for each glass which was mostly ice.
