Great food would go again
Nothing Special: We celebrated friend's birthdays Saturday night. The staff was gracious and make the occasion special. However the food was disappointing. The artichoke was undercooked. My husbands prime rib was not tender. The mussels I ordered where large but had an odd taste. I left most of them on the plate. Next time we want a steak or prime rib we will go to Starks.
Saddles seems to be underrated. Very good food and wonderful service.
The bar area ambiance could be improved with some redecorating.
Our dining experience was not as good as we have experienced in the past. Maybe this is due to the transition in ownership. We were seated in a dining area open to the bar instead of in the separate dining room where we have dined in the past. And of course there was a very loud blowhard yacking away for all to hear. Delicious chicken pate but horrible creamed spinach. One rib eye was great, the other was not. Service started out good and then declined. Will wait a few months to see if things improve before trying it again.
The food was delicious. The food and beverage menus were thoughtfully prepared. The ambiance was okay as we were seated in the back overflow room that is a three-season room with enough gas heaters to put a rocket into orbit. But the real treat was the service. The entire staff was knowledgeable, extremely kind and attentive and made us feel welcome. They were the real stars of the show. Job well done!
I always order the bunless Kobe beef burger with sauteed mushrooms and Brie and a nice salad on the side. I eat half and take the rest home to my husband who loves it. There are lots of other good choices but I keep going back to this one
Very nice dinner in Sonoma. Hard to find a steakhouse here so we were happy with our find!
Service was excellent. Food quality and taste were good. The only negative was food temperature: foods that should have been hot were only lukewarm.
The restaurant had adequate parking, was accessible to persons with disabilities, was quiet and a good atmosphere for conversation, the service good and the food tasty.
The restaurant had been recommended to us by a really fine winery stating that it was the perfect steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary. What a disaster. The service was bad. The food was just plain awful. Cold mash potatoes. Creamed spinach was literally spinach with milk poured over it. Steaks were horrific - not quality cuts (based on a $40+ price point)...and the ambiance felt like an old country club setting. Suffice to say, the best part of the meal was the wine...that we brought. Thoroughly a disappointing evening.
Delicious an unique. Our server was fantastic an pleasant. It was a very romantic setting. We went for the Valentine's set menu as we do every year, it was delicious, unique, beautifully plated. It's fancy but not to snobby. My only complaint which is mild an doesn't reflect the place as a whole is the parking. It's always jam packed and fills up fast. To asswholes with massive trucks parked in the compact spaces on each side of me that I couldn't even get into my vehicle until one of them left.
This was a valentines special menu meal, we both had the steak option requesting med rare, one was cooked properly the other way overcooked. Service was very slow and unattentive. We have had way better food at many other places. Too bad since it is local. Will not be back soon, if ever.
Ordered a burger for lunch. Bun was dry and unremarkable. Meat lacked salt. Steak fries were inconsistently cooked. But beautiful room and garden.
Second time visiting and enjoyed as much as the first time. My filet was cooked a perfect Medium Rare and shrimp were tasty.
We have been before and will be back again. On this occasion, we made reservations in honor of my daughter's birthday. I even made note of it when I made the reservation.
We started with a cocktail in the bar, which I always try to do. They make mine wonderfully. Then we moved into the restaurant. They honored my daughter in a very low key way, which I am certain she appreciated. Dinner was fabulous and dessert was scrumptious.
Thank you for a wonderful evening! We will see you again soon.
Very good food including a very spa like halibut. Quiet on the porch area. Table cloths!
Birthday for daughter. Intended to be big celebration. Restaurant was 3/4 full, but noisy bar crowd and terrible acoustics meant we had to practically shout to hear each other. The food was good, but the waitress was kind of combative or surely, so slow to take orders, then after food was served, she disappeared till about ten minutes after we had all finished. I had to wave to get her attention, which became annoying to us both. Then I ask her to bring us dessert menus and she says she’s bring the birthday girls dessert first - leaving the rest of us waiting to order and get our dessert - while my daughter is sitting there waiting, while her dessert melted into a puddle. I think the noise and waitress would prevent me from making reservations here again, but the food and restaurant were otherwise very nice.
Excellent wait staff.
what a nice and pleasant surprise! the food was great, the restaurant was great, the service was fantastic and we really enjoyed the whole meal and ambiance. Will definitely go back again and tell others! Well done!
Meat is the name of the game. Good Americana steak dinner but I would not call it gourmet. Parking can be a problem in the lot. But they do have street parking. The service was first classs.
Saddles is a staple in Sonoma for an upscale steak house, and is usually spot on. On this occasion, the Caesar salad seemed to have been left in refrigerator too long and was inedible. The short ribs were very tasty as was my wife's salted potato, but the New York steak was nothing special-a surpise from this type of restaurant. The wait staff was efficient but limited on menu knowledge. Overall, a bit disappointed with this experience. For the price point, Saddles fell short of expectations. Would not go out of my way to visit again.
Food was great! Service was fast, friendly and professional! Very clean!
Excellent food, great wine selection, delicious cocktails, world-class service, in elegantly casual surroundings. Highly recommend!
Saddles has been our special occasion restaurant since it opened. We received great service from Sandy, and the food was delicious. Disappointed in the prime rib though - Always a favorite of our family, but way too much fat this time and without the brown, crunchy crust as before. Hoping Saddles remains Saddles with the new owners - The favorite restaurant in town for many of us locals!
Casual but yet if you want to dress up you can. The wait staff was prompt and the food good. We went for the steaks.
One of the best steaks in Sonoma County! The service was outstanding. We informed the staff ahead of time it was our mother's 62nd birthday and they brought her cake and a card. The food was wonderful, the cocktails were also quite tasty. My brother had never experienced fine dining before, this was his first "fancy" restaraunt , he was for the first time in his life SPEECHLESS. He enjoyed every bite of his Filet Minon. We will absolutely be returning. We had a wonderful night. Thank you.
at service and food. Very warm and cozy atmosphere
Great food and great service.
Interesting themed restaurant. All about saddles and horses. The food was good and the service very good. It was a cold January evening but they appeared to have outside seating which would be nice in the warmer weather. They appeared to be set up for large groups or conferences.
Loved it! And our dinner was excellent and our service was even better. Thank you
The food was good and the service was great. We had the pleasure of dining here on our last night in town. We started with the shrimp cocktail and we had to send it back because it was undercooked. They brought out a new one but the “sauce” was more like a ceviche presentation with little bay shrimp mixed in. I did not enjoy this and would have preferred a traditional cocktail sauce. At $15 an order, I felt the price point was too high. We then enjoyed the iceberg salad and that was delicious! We then shared the grass fed filet and salted baked potato and they were both very good. The steak was prepared perfectly and the potato was so good with all the side accroutrements. Definitely will be going back.
We read about Saddles in the Press Democrat review 12/2017. Based on review, we made New Years Eve reservations. Never rec'd the "special menu" as indicated. When we sat and the menu noted dinner was $100 per person we were quite shocked based on the menu. Salmon, Steak, chicken. This is not worthy of the price as many other restaurants serve the same items for quite less of an expense. Our server was excellent. The room had absolutely no enlivened decorations, celebratory New Years Eve items/decorations. Just a Christmas tree in the corner. We were seated in the normal dining room areas. It did not feel like New Years Eve at all. Desert could have been better and more. Pieces took one bite, that was it. Very disappointed at the price Saddles charged. Our salmon was good, but in all honesty, being Italian heritage, living in Sonoma County, this was nothing special that I have not already cooked in our own home. Risotto included. Our total bill was $268. Included a $50 tip. We ordered one house chardonnay and one tequila over the rocks. Extremely disappointed for what we got. Saddles could have at least made this experience feel like a New Year.
Very nice restaurant, has a cozy/vintage feel to it. The food is really good, and the portions are generous.
Family get together while visiting. Excellent steak but all our steaks were cooked rare and we ordered medium. They were fine to cook 1 a bit more. Excellent mashed potatoes and vegetables were delicious, outstanding service, great cocktails n the bar before being seated. I’d like to come back for lunch and sit in the friendly bar area. Everyone was pleased with their dinner. The onion straws as an app were light flakey and yummy. You would not be disappointed, very good meal.
Best steakhouse in Sonoma!!!
Always a pleasure to go there. The service is outstanding, the food delicious and the experience is not to be missed. Our favorite restaurant!!!
A great, tranquil out of the way location that's very inviting. We were there for Christmas Day lunch. Sandy was attending us, we found her very personable, friendly and accomodating to our needs. The food was outstanding bursting with flavor. Our order was from the special Christmas prix fixe menu with the scallop dish being the highlight. Compliments to the chef and Sandy. We were dismayed to learn that the wonderful horse paintings on the walls will be removed by the new owners. It is hopeful they will reconsider and incorporate them in their new design.
We always enjoy coming to Saddles. The food is always great and the atmosphere
during holidays is wonderful. Great service too
Excellent food quality, preparation and presentation. Elegant atmosphere and fantastic service.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Vincent our waiter was fantastic. He took care of all our needs and request. The food was excellent and very tasty. Highly recommend eating here on you next trip to Sonoma.
We love Sandy! She’s the best server in the Valley.
