Macarthur Place is a hotel, spa and restaurant located in the heart of wine country in downtown Sonoma. The grounds of the Macarthur Place estate are beautiful, with picturesque vistas of the surrounding countryside virtually everywhere you look. The in-house spas are top of the line, and offer several services to help patrons relax and melt away any stress they might be carrying.
As for the restaurant, the Saddles Steakhouse, the peaceful ambiance of Macarthur Place carries over to the dining area, where tall white rafters and gentle lighting create the perfect atmosphere for a romantic evening. Steaks are of course the specialties of the house, with the stars of the show being the 8 oz filet mignon and 12 oz New York Strip. Unsurprisingly, the wine list is also exquisite, full of the best California wines. Saddles offers a full bar and 3 dining rooms (1 open air covered veranda), and 2 private dining rooms. The restaurant had been recommended to us by a really fine winery stating that it was the perfect steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary. What a disaster. The service was bad. The food was just plain awful. Cold mash potatoes. Creamed spinach was literally spinach with milk poured over it. Steaks were horrific - not quality cuts (based on a $40+ price point)...and the ambiance felt like an old country club setting. Suffice to say, the best part of the meal was the wine...that we brought. Thoroughly a disappointing evening.

Delicious an unique. Our server was fantastic an pleasant. It was a very romantic setting. We went for the Valentine's set menu as we do every year, it was delicious, unique, beautifully plated. It's fancy but not to snobby. My only complaint which is mild an doesn't reflect the place as a whole is the parking. It's always jam packed and fills up fast. To asswholes with massive trucks parked in the compact spaces on each side of me that I couldn't even get into my vehicle until one of them left.

This was a valentines special menu meal, we both had the steak option requesting med rare, one was cooked properly the other way overcooked. Service was very slow and unattentive. We have had way better food at many other places. Too bad since it is local. Will not be back soon, if ever.

Ordered a burger for lunch. Bun was dry and unremarkable. Meat lacked salt. Steak fries were inconsistently cooked. But beautiful room and garden.

We have been before and will be back again. On this occasion, we made reservations in honor of my daughter's birthday. I even made note of it when I made the reservation.

We started with a cocktail in the bar, which I always try to do. They make mine wonderfully. Then we moved into the restaurant. They honored my daughter in a very low key way, which I am certain she appreciated. Dinner was fabulous and dessert was scrumptious.

Birthday for daughter. Intended to be big celebration. Restaurant was 3/4 full, but noisy bar crowd and terrible acoustics meant we had to practically shout to hear each other. The food was good, but the waitress was kind of combative or surely, so slow to take orders, then after food was served, she disappeared till about ten minutes after we had all finished. I had to wave to get her attention, which became annoying to us both. Then I ask her to bring us dessert menus and she says she’s bring the birthday girls dessert first - leaving the rest of us waiting to order and get our dessert - while my daughter is sitting there waiting, while her dessert melted into a puddle. I think the noise and waitress would prevent me from making reservations here again, but the food and restaurant were otherwise very nice.

Meat is the name of the game. Good Americana steak dinner but I would not call it gourmet. Parking can be a problem in the lot. But they do have street parking. The service was first classs.

Saddles is a staple in Sonoma for an upscale steak house, and is usually spot on. On this occasion, the Caesar salad seemed to have been left in refrigerator too long and was inedible. The short ribs were very tasty as was my wife's salted potato, but the New York steak was nothing special-a surpise from this type of restaurant. The wait staff was efficient but limited on menu knowledge. Overall, a bit disappointed with this experience. For the price point, Saddles fell short of expectations. Would not go out of my way to visit again.

Saddles has been our special occasion restaurant since it opened. We received great service from Sandy, and the food was delicious. Disappointed in the prime rib though - Always a favorite of our family, but way too much fat this time and without the brown, crunchy crust as before. Hoping Saddles remains Saddles with the new owners - The favorite restaurant in town for many of us locals!

One of the best steaks in Sonoma County! The service was outstanding. We informed the staff ahead of time it was our mother's 62nd birthday and they brought her cake and a card. The food was wonderful, the cocktails were also quite tasty. My brother had never experienced fine dining before, this was his first "fancy" restaraunt , he was for the first time in his life SPEECHLESS. He enjoyed every bite of his Filet Minon. We will absolutely be returning. We had a wonderful night. Thank you.

Interesting themed restaurant. All about saddles and horses. The food was good and the service very good. It was a cold January evening but they appeared to have outside seating which would be nice in the warmer weather. They appeared to be set up for large groups or conferences.
