Saddles Steakhouse - MacArthur Place
As for the restaurant, the Saddles Steakhouse, the peaceful ambiance of Macarthur Place carries over to the dining area, where tall white rafters and gentle lighting create the perfect atmosphere for a romantic evening. Unsurprisingly, the wine list is also exquisite, full of the best California wines.

Had a wonderful experience last year for my husband's birthday, so much so that we wanted to go back again this year. What a surprise to see we were put into the Library (about 15 tables). Hardly the same as the regular restaurant. My husband's steak was just mediocre, and I thought the lunch tab was exorbitant. Won't be returning.
The library is the temporary Saddles while they renovate. We split the onion rings to start. I loved them plain and my friend slurped up the sauce. I had the chicken fried chicken without a bun. It was delicious. The pickles and coleslaw complemented nicely. I didn’t need more oil, but the fries were very good. The one retraction was the too strong ice tea but I fixed it with lots of added ice.
Very disappointed . We did not know the restaurant was in transition and in a temporary location. We were expecting the old kitschy Saddles and got a pale imposter.
Mediocre filet mignon. Chewy. Service good. Atmosphere very generic and non descriptive. Fireplace nice but hot up close. Overall, wish we had gone elsewhere....too many outstanding places clos by to go here for just so so.
In spite of the cramped quarters Saddles is limited to during renovations to the barn, they served a lovely dinner with grace and elegance.
The Saddles salad was delicious; the Petaluma chicken was cooked perfectly and the filet was fantastic. Roasted mushrooms and their juice over
mashed potatoes was so tasty! As it was our anniversary, we were given a creme brûlée for dessert. It was perfect!
Breakfasts were also nicely done during our 2 day stay. Our thanks to Amaya, Pasang, and Dawa for making us feel so welcome and cared for.
What a fantastic team! We’ll be back!
While the food and service was good we were looking for a true steakhouse which they were advertised as. The menu was very limited and only a couple of steak options. It is not a steakhouse. The service is very good and someone is there for your every need. It is a small restaurant with nice ambience and beautiful patio. However it was difficult to find.
We had the pleasure to dine at Saddles one last time before it becomes just the bar of the new restaurant concept. They are setup in the library and on the patio just in front. It was small, cozy, and perfect weather for dining outside. The menu is a bit limited, but all my favorites were still there. The service was fantastic (Thank you Vincent) and the food was fabulous. I am sorry to see it go. It has been one of my favorite locations to dine and I loved the upscale kitchy cowboy theme. Thanks for the memories Saddles!
High priced and bland for everything but the filet.
We could not have asked for better service - thank you James! Our cocktails, wine and dinners (filet mignon and ribeye cooked to perfection, well seasoned with delicious demi glacé) were fabulous. We look forward to coming back soon and saving room for dessert.
The filet mignon was very good, but the flavor was really enhanced by using the seasoned salt at the table. The shrimp and calamari appetizer was delicious. The service was very good also. It was a beautiful atmosphere to celebrate our daughter’s engagement.
This was by far the worst steak I’ve ever had. Horrible experience all around.
While the main dining room is under renovation, this quiet smaller dining room was a pleasant surprise. We had an enjoyable dinner with good food and great service
Exceptional service. I had the filet mignon and it was done perfectly. So tasty. My husband had the ribeye and remarked how delectable it was.
So yes it was absolutely wonderful food. Highly recommend!!
Unfortunately saddles is being remodeled and the restaurant is serving meals in the library. The menu is extremely limited and the service is incredibly slow. I don’t know where the kitchen is but it must be far away! The food is just ok. I will try MacArthur place again when the new restaurant opens.
They are currently under construction. The prices are very high for the end result of the meal. Not worth it. Had steak, the cut was ok, flavor good. Wine is overpriced. Risotto tasted like Uncle Ben's with some box cheese powder on it, terrible.
Maybe it will be better or more worth it after construction.
Overall not the best experience. I will say that they are in the middle of remodeling and we dined in a temp room adjacent to the original facility. Never the less, our food was disappointing. Two of the three steaks were overdone even though the correct choice was listed in the order. (Not the waiter's fault) Also, my wifes Salmon was overcooked and dry.
The manager and the waiter were great in trying make amends, and the fault was clearly the kitchen.
It was a pleasant experience with disappointing food. I hope that it was a temporary problem, and would consider a return.
We were very very disappointed. We were there for our reservation made a month in adavance to find out that the main restaurant was going thru a renovation, we were in temp facility, and the menu was chopped 75% to a temp menu. We were on vacation, drove 30 miles in wine country to get there at 6:15...ordered what was available...not what we wanted from the original menu. The food was good...but would have appreciated the courtesy of a heads up that the main restaurant was closed , and the menu limited. Had a nice enough waitress, but she did not speak English very well, and not as attentive as we would have expected . Usually never do a negative review...but the experience was tainted...which could have been avoided, had we received notice of what was going on at Saddles
Very disappointed to not know ahead of time that the restaurant was under construction. We had a great experience there two years ago. This is crush time and took friends there last night after raving about it. There should have been notifications to guests of the pending construction. It was chilly with no outside heaters. However, blankets were offered.
Saddles and the hotel it’s in is currently under construction. They have a limited menu and the food is pedestrian and minimal. Everything tasted like it was made on a hot plate. My rib eye was thin and over cooked. The owners should just shut the restaurant down til they’re finished with the renovations. The quality of food it’s currently serving is hurting the restaurants reputation.
I took my boyfriend to Saddles for dinner on 9/15/18. I was excited to see it after the hype I’d read about the remodel of the restaurant and bar. Much to our dismay, instead of the remodel being finished, it had only begun 48 hours before.
We were directed to the “library” a small building with an outdoor patio.
I had made reservations a week in advance and was never told about this unconvince. The patio was cold, (though they offered blankets) and the menu was barely a menu.
The only good part was our sweet waiter apologized every time he came by. He was trying unsuccessfully to salvage the evening.
3 times I got reminders from Saddles about this reservation and not once was it mentioned the restaurant was closed, but we’ll put you in the library.
Bad form Saddles. Bad food, bad atmosphere, bad experience.
Ok food, pubby atmosphere, lots of big tables and parties, consequently lots and lots of noise. Ask for a corner table outside, otherwise you'll end up with a pounding headache. But, hey, maybe that's your thing.
Limited choice menu. Ordinary food and ambience. Don’t even get a warm plate for a $42 steak.
We had this planned as a "must do" on our day trip to Sonoma. The food was great, service was great, ambiance was great, etc etc..
HOWEVER, much to our displeasure the Saturday we were there (10 / 8) was the second to last night at their current location. I can not express the amount of dissatisfaction we had when we learned that we had a "paired down" menu for that night. At no time during our reservation process was this made aware to us, no mention when being greeted by the hostess, nothing. It was not until we sat down and realized we were not seeing half of the menu that was online.
I feel that this was a huge misrepsentation on Saddle's behalf. Frankyly, we left kind of angry
In the future, I think it would serve the customers greatly if we are made aware of this beforehand, and that way we can make a more informed decision on where we would like to enjoy a nice dinner out.
Very attentive staff. Steak was cooked perfect and delicious. Enjoyed our meal. Drinks were good too!
great place to sneak off to with friends. Not crowded, no parking problems, good food and no noise.
rare to find in Sonom
Everything was outstanding except the steak. Why they chose to serve that piece of meat is beyond understanding. The quality, presentation, attention to detail, and combination of flavors in everything else was exceptional.
We came for a farewell visit. It is sad to see a restaurant that has become one of our favorites disappear, only to be replaced by an aneseptic new age eatery. We will miss the dependable Saddles.
My wife and I entertained one of her college friends for dinner at Saddles Monday evening. Our experience was exceptional with excellent food, service and ambience. My wife and I had steaks--she a rib eye and me a New York strip--and our guest had the halibut. The meat and fish were both done to perfection. And the baked potatoes are unsurpassed. Plus the very dry martini and wine selection also hit the spot and enhanced the whole dining experience. We wholeheartedly recommend Saddles to anyone interested in a memorable meal in Sonoma.
We have been here many time and always been treated as if we were special. We will come back as often as we can it always feel like a special treat.
Great service and amazing steak and wine. Who could want more?!
Several years ago we’d visited Saddles and had a wonderful meal, this most recent visit was better than we remembered. Staff was most informative and attentive, steaks perfectly (and accurately) prepared. Wine list offerings are well balanced and fairly priced.
Desserts very well done.
Saddles is located at MacArthur Place and the reason we stayed on property.
We look forward to returning to Sonoma, MacArthur Place and Saddles!
Food was not good. Had to send my steak back. Service was beyond slow. Really has gone downhill.
We arrived after a 4 hour flight from East Coast and the staff were most empathetic and accommodating - EVERYTHING was “as it should be” at Saddles, the restaurant has been honored multiple times and they are most deserving of the accolades!
Third time here...it's close, and not that bad. This time, however, my New York steak had gristle running throughout. Never have experienced a usually reliable NY wit her that problem
Enjoyed Saddles so much, the best Margarita I’ve ever had and best calamari. 10 stars!!
Beautiful, quiet setting. Wait staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was outstanding. Everything perfectly cooked.
Would definitely recommend
Atmosphere/decor is pleasing here, and our filet mignon was stand-out. That said, it came with nothing, so by the time a diner has built a meal around it --salad, sides, sauces (all extra $) it's a pricey meal unless special occasion.
This is a great restaurant inside the most charming hotel I've seen. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. The cocktails and food were amazing. This is a great place to go for a special occasion dinner.
Great food! Sorry to see it being closed down. Have spent many anniversaries and special occasions there as well as just a good night!
