Saddle Ranch Chop House - Sunset Ratings and Reviews
We received the best service we have received in years! The staff was fun and friendly, diverse and helpful. Nearly everyone that passed our table stoped to check on us. Happy hour is awesome! Our bill was such a pleasant surprise, dare I say cheap? I will absolutely be returning, and with friends and family! How refreshing to get such perfect service. I also had my favorite Mac n cheese for my birthday and dessert on the house!
This place is amazing!! Service is great and Jeff, the manager, is perfect!
They go above and beyond for their customers and the scene is always a fun one.
I love this place because it's affordable, fun for groups and the food is unique!
Highly recommend it for any groups or just a fun night out.
Our favorite place to dine when we come to Los Angeles! We could easily have every meal here.
Love watching the bull riders. But don’t go so easy on the ladies, guys... reverse discrimination...
The food is to die for.
The manager is totally on top of it and every staff manner is friendly. ( great hiring policy, guys)
They really seem to care about the costumer.
Only criticism... a little volume control on the music for us old timers, please.
Restaurant was understaffed and available staff were indifferent. It took an hour just to order food, get a glass of water and a few drinks. Everything was sort of average. I understand it is somewhat of an iconic institution but really? The best thing is it easily accommodated our Party of 22 people.
Have you ever been at a restaurant with a group of good friends in which something disappointing happens almost immediately, but you want to put a good face on things rather than be the spoilsport who puts everyone in a bad frame of mind? I really didn't mind the tacky, touristy cowboy decor, because this is Hollywood after all. At least it had plenty of flatscreens, so we could watch the USC/UCLA game. The problem is this place is filled with smiling, friendly servers who don't know what they are doing. It's hard not to like them, so I blame the managers for not training them properly and setting higher expectations. Here's the litany of woes we endured: 1) at the bar, we discovered our bartender could only pour one drink at a time (John Taffert would scream), and their featured specialty whisky drink I ordered ended up being a fruity grenadine colored joke in a old milk bottle, 2) when our entrees were served to our party of ten, they came in waves of 2 or 3 at a time (?), the servers were confused as to who ordered what, and the final person's entree arrived 10 minutes late, 3) my filet mignon was cooked just right (medium rare), but the grilled vegetables were so drenched in garlic, I gave up on them and ate my slightly undercooked baked potato, 4) one of our friends ordered a pasta dish, which came on a large, thin, uninsulated aluminum platter that allowed all the pasta at the edges to go cold before it even arrived, and only the center of the pasta was warm (they cooked her a new plate, er platter), 5) worst yet, another of our friends bit into a PIECE OF METAL that was in his food. The manager was highly apologetic, and focused on the other end of the table where the greatest disappointments seemed to be. But once our plates were cleared, how did he choose to make it up to us? Sending a bunch of desserts to our table, including a massive pink tower of cotton candy (?!?), rather than comp some of our entrees. This felt like Chucky Cheese for grownups.
My guest and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the valet parking, the friendliness of the hostess. We loved the food and the timely manner we received it. We plan on returning and letting our friends and family know about the Saddle Ranch Chop House whenever we're in the Hollywood area. 😉
We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and once it was 20 minutes after our time I asked how much longer it would be and got a shoulder shrug. After 40 minutes past our reservation i complained again and they finally sat us but separated our group. We were not sitting anywhere near each other. I was extremely unhappy and was about to leave when one male
server came up and pushed all tables near each other and got us a round of shots. It was a nice gesture and service was semi okay for the remainder of the time but I will never eat here again and make sure everyone knows how awful their hostess was and how reservations mean nothing since it still took over an hour to be seated.
At first we thought is anyone going to serve us, should we just leave but once our waiter came over it was top notch!! We had just arrived in LA after a 13 hour flight and dropping our bags of at the hotel and this place made us forget that we were tired and needed to get to bed. Menu great loads to choose from, beverages menu also terrific. Best thing ever was the candy floss dessert, each time one went past our table I was trying to get a photo of it and by the end of the night the waiter bought one to us on the house. We couldn't possibly eat it all so we shared it with as many as we could which made our night even more fun. The staff are there to make sure that you have a great time and they put everything into it. We love you James.
My guests and I were seated in a booth comfortably but then some other guests were seated across from us with one of the guests seated at the end of the table and in a pathway where other guests and the staff were walking in. In trying to squeeze past this guest inevitably our table kept getting bumped. This happened all night long. One of the staff members bumped our table so hard that she knocked the table into my chest. She looked back and then kept walking. No excuse me or any sort of apology. My daughter ordered her food well done and it came pretty rare. The rest of us were done with our meal before hers came back out. Our server James was excellent. The manager gave us free desserts as an apology for the spoiled evening but since we didn't want dessert anyway the desserts didn't sweeten our experience. Especially since there were four of us and we were only given 3 desserts.
Very mixed experience. The staff was very friendly and amazing. The environment was way too loud and out of control. The food was exceptional. Very delicious. We even got a free complimentary dessert. Our waiter was so sweet. I don’t know if he knew it was my boyfriends birthday or if he was just going above and beyond. I left him a more than generous tip according to the tip range at the bottom of the check. The next day I noticed the charge pending on my account twice. So instead of being out $125 for dinner I am out $250. Which is slightly impactful living in LA and trying to budget. Hopefully only the one charge goes through and I don’t get charged double for the meal. It was good but not $250 good. So yeah. Mixed experience.
Questionable Bank Charges
From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome. It has a warm, friendly, happy atmosphere. The staff are an asset in every way. Our server VInny was helpful and gave us tips as in mix matching our food. Our steak was out of this world. We had a very enjoyable evening and would recommend a visit anytime.
A very fun time last Sunday Brunch . Warm welcome at the front , server an awesome , friendly , on -top-of-his-game kind of guy , made is all feel welcome , including my 83 year old Au t visiting from Germany . The Eggs Benedicts were all hearty and delicious . A very fun spot , as long as you aren't expecting quiet as lots of sports screens , " the bucking bronco " , and people sort of " letting loose " .
Perfect spot for a group of friends to meet for food, drink, and fun before heading to the Comedy Store for a show! We had a large group coming from many different directions, so it was a very centralized location for us and I loved that we could reserve a table online in advance! Saddle Ranch was very accommodating and we enjoyed the two guitarists who came by our table for a mini concert! Lots of fun and we'll meet there again when we get together in the city! Also, a varied drink and food menu, including great appetizer options!
Absolutely brilliant meal. Me and my friend were travelling california and this was recommended by tripadvisor for the best steak in LA without paying ridiculous money so we went for our farewell meal here. Could not have picked a better place the service, food quality, atmosphere and price was AMAZING!!!! Would rush back if i didn't live 4000 miles away!!! :)
I love going to Saddle Ranch late at night with my friends to drink and dance but I had a horrible experience for my birthday brunch. We had 2 waiters for my party of 20. By the way, my waiters were nice and the guy was funny. Unfortunately, it took forever to get our bottomless mimosas. We had to wait forever to get our 2nd and 3rd round. Then when it was time to pay, they added a bar tab (that we thought was carried over) to my tab so they charged my friends twice and then they added my cotton candy and smores to the tab as will. We didn't ask for the birthday treats. They took off the cotton candy and smores but left that bar tab; therefore, we were short with the bill and the waiters were not tipped well.
