Saddle Ranch Chop House - Costa Mesa Ratings and Reviews
I typically do not write a review for restaurants; however, I have one major complaint. I had a party of 5 for my son-in-laws birthday and none of us smoke. There were 3 smokers at the table next to us and I asked them to stop, they didn't so our evening was cut short. There were other smokers in the area and my brother ended up going to the emergency room due to health conditions caused by smoke inhalation.
We've been there before and it's fine. This time , the service was horrible. We had a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. Our waiter forgot parts of order, brought food and for 10 minutes never brought us silverware. He made the evening frustrating instead of pleasurable. The only reason I didn't give it a one star is our bill came and our drinks and appetizers were reduced because of Happy hour which we weren't aware of. That was a nice surprise considering how everything else went.
Been here many times for brunch, nice outdoor patio & good value with bottomless mimosas & bloody mary's. Had poor service this last visit, not sure if it was the server or if the kitchen & bar were just backed up. Food took 45 min. from time of order & drinks seemed to take 10-15 min.
Disappointed in the service on this visit & hope it was just an anomaly.
Visited this location back in June and thought we would give it another try after the horrendous and slow service from our first visit we thought it would only improve.....unfortunately it hasn’t!!!!! The restaurant was quite and we sat outside and it took 10 minutes to see a waiter and then after getting our drink we didn’t see the waiter again for 20 minutes!!!! 90 minutes for a meal when it’s quite like that is ridiculous. The food is decent, however the service is as bad as you will see in the area so didn’t visit this location unless you have at least 90 minutes to spare. Very disappointing as this is a great location but will look at one of the other venues now as our spot to go 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Oh Saddle Ranch what happened to you?The first time I came here was wonderful, prompt seating, great service, delicious food...Then I come again today with a guest and It was just awful. We were seated right away and our order was taken and then we waited nearly an hour before our food came, I was about ready to say forget it and leave when the food arrived and I should have acted on my earlier instinct because the food was terrible. I had the BBQ ribs and they were dry as could be, the truffle fries were cold. I wanted to ask for some BBQ sauce on the side to make the ribs more palatable but I never saw our server again, we had ordered lemonade and the glass sat empty for the duration of the meal, I had to flag someone down to ask for ketchup and bbq sauce, when our server finally came by we were done eating and I told her It would have been nice had she stopped by when the food finally came (it was brought to us by someone else) so I could have told her what else was needed, she just looked at us and said sorry and walked away. I left my credit card out to pay the bill and she scooped it up without a word and practically threw it on the table when she brought it back. Such terrible service, I guess this place is doing just fine because they obviously don't need our business nor will they ever get it again.
It was ok. It was my first time there. I wish I would have known about the "fight" before arriving & the impact it would have on the dining experience. We were not interested in the "fight" so we ate out on the patio. The biscuits were good. My meal was barely barely warm. I would have preferred it a little warmer, oh well. The spinach was a little too garlic-y for me, but the ribs & asparagus were delicious. Could have been a little warmer. The Smores were fantastic, probably the best part of the meal/evening!
Also I had to retrieve our waitress to get a to-go box......again, fight night.....busy time.......overall, it was okay....
When we got there, it took a while to seat us when the restaurat was NOT busy at all. I had made a reservation for 6 and they kept thinking 7. When they set our table in, again, an empty restaurant, they pushed 2 tables together that were not flush so that the 2 people in the middle had to balance their plates on one table or the other. That was not necessary because they could have just put us at a bigger table. Other than that, the service was a little slow but the food was good. The hashbrowns were delicious. I'll go there one more time in hopes to get a better table.
Food was incredibly poor quality.
Ranged from super burnt to disgustingly uncooked food.
Although the service was kind, they messed up the bill several times.
The alcoholic drinks were even worse than the food.
Definately need to re-train their bartenders at this location.
The only plus side to this location is that the desserts were all delicious.
(This is all coming from someone who has worked in the restaurant business for years as a server/ bartender)
Overall I would NOT recommend this place to anyone at all.
This location was great for our college graduation party brunch. The waiter Ryan was very attentive and handled or large party without a hitch. They gave in a complimentary dessert and a large corton candy. The food was great and came promptly. I would definitely recommend it
We went for a belated Mother's Day brunch, we were there when it opened at 9am and had the best time! This location is way better then the Orange one. Thanks to our awesome server, I wish I could remember his name, but I enjoyed the mimosas little too much. The manager was also super awesome, they brought us out free dessert for the special occasion! Thanks again
Went here on a Sunday afternoon, my husband told the waiter we were meeting with friends and just wanted a nice leisurely meal to talk and hang out. this is exactly what we got. Ryan was our waiter, not only funny but super nice and look care of everything. Food was good, drinks were fun in the carafe, people watching the mechanical bull was amazing. Definitely a fun night and we plan to go back regularly.
This was my first time here and I really liked it. The service was great, my server was informative and checked back often. The food portions are huge and the burger was really good but the french fries really stand out crispy and hot and coupled with the spicy ketchup they were absolutely delicious. The meal starts with jalapeno corn bread with sweet butter, so good. The ambiance is fun. I really enjoyed the overall experience.
We had a group of 14 for Mother's Day and I increased the number of guests st last minute even though it took about 15 minutes, the staff was able to get creative and give us a large table for 10 and a booth next to it for 4. The grandparents loved getting special booth seating. The service is always super polite and accommodating. Garrett rocks he was cool and calm through it all! We live close by and will be back! Thanks Hilo High manager!
We had a party of eleven, of which ten took part in the unlimited mimosas and/or bloody marys. The mimosas had VERY little champagne in them. It was mostly sugary juice. The bloody marys were liked by two out of the seven people who tried them. They were just lacking in flavor. The shade for those in the warm sun was not ample, and half of our table faced the sun directly. Our table was wedged in between two barrels that were chained down, so we couldn't move around well and couldn't get an umbrella to fit in the area. Ten of us got our order almost all together. One person waited way too long for his dish, while most of us were finished with ours. We wouldn't recommend coming on a holiday like Mother's Day, but would stick more to the happy hour times with a smaller party.
We went here for Mothers Day with a party of 10. Only 3 out of 10 of us had ever been here. It was definitely crowded but the food and unlimited mimosas and bloody Mary's were great. The only downfall to our visit was my daughter and myself were served about 10 minutes after everyone else at our table. They made my daughters food wrong and realized it when they began to serve her and my food never got to the chef so they had to make both of ours while the rest of our party was eating. However, they did make good by offering us 2 free desserts which were delicious. Overall it was a good pick for Mothers Day brunch and my family suggested we actually go back again for Fathers Day as well
The server must have gotten every single order wrong. I wish I could excuse the service because they were too busy - but we were one of seven tables in the entire restaurant. There were at least 10 waiters. For starters, we had a vegetarian order eggs with no meat on the side (avocado only). The server brought out eggs with bacon touching everything. We told more than one server and they both said "let me see if we can get you a side of avocado no charge" - not the solution for a non-meat eater. Our appetizers came and we asked for plates and napkins. No one brought plates or napkins. A second server came with a second appetizer and we again asked for utensils. Nothing. Our entrees came and we again asked for utensils. Nothing. Food runner came back with more entrees and we asked for utensils. Five minutes went by and we asked a manager. He looked confused and said "let me get you utensils." We asked a bus boy, who finally went to a server station and got us utensils. After our meal, the server did apologize for "being off [his] game" because he drank too much the night before. At least that happened.
The service was very slow. We had an 11am reservation and we didn't get sat until 11:30am. It took about another 10-15 minutes for a waiter to approach us. It was a little frustrating since there were plenty of empty tables inside and outside of the restaurant. Getting our drinks and refills took a long time and we had to ask for them 2-3 times before we got them. We asked for extra spicy ketchup, but that never arrived.
I think the manager noticed that we kept trying to flag someone down that she came over to our table to see if everything was okay. We asked for drink refills and more napkins. Luckily, with her it only took a few minutes to get them.
She brought over a free dessert, since it was my father's birthday and then brought over a free cotton candy for my nephew. This made our dining experience much more enjoyable. Thank you to the manager that was on staff when we went. If it wasn't for her, then it would have been our last time at Saddle Ranch.
