This was our first time dining at the Boulevard Bistro, and it was excellent! The service was outstanding and the food was perfect. It was also Valentine's Day, so they had a special 3 course menu with a lobster special. The dessert was also amazing, we had the seasonal sorbet (watermelon and mixed berry) and a lemon panna cotta. Nat and Tomasa Ybanez founded La Hacienda Restaurant in Chico in 1948. Under modest means, they moved their family to Chico and creatively converted a building into a restaurant. Their discipline and hard work paid off when they were able to move from the original site on Nord Avenue along Big Chico Creek to the present site on the Esplanade.
The foundation of the business has always been the quality of food. Tomasa was responsible for creating the menu by blending family recipes with her own creations. The most notable creation was the Original Tostada and “secret sauce” salad dressing. The Original Tostada continues today to be our most popular menu item.
The family tradition continues and we are proud of our unique position as the oldest ongoing, continuously operated restaurant in Chico!More

The Gate at The Murieta Inn Spa will deliver a unique “farm-to-fork" dining experience, delighting guests staying at the hotel and adding vibrancy to Rancho Murieta’s charming dining scene. To create our seasonal menus, Chef Brian Hawkins will artfully utilize produce from The Inn and Spa’s own Angel Wing Farm, a five acre farm and state-of-the-art greenhouse located on the property. Chef Hawkins is working with local ranchers and fisheries to source the restaurant’s meats, poultry and fish to complement the menu’s bright, hearty fare. The Gate will also feature a full bakery program with all of the hotel’s baked delights being crafted on-site.
The Gate beverage program features an extensive wine list, including selections from the nearby Amador and El Dorado wine country, a private bourbon collection and a variety of tap beers from the region’s vibrant craft beer scene. Our cocktails will feature premium spirits enhanced with fruits, flowers and botanicals from Angel Wing Farm.More
